Important Add-On Procedure

On Tuesday, I called MS to continue adding to my Christmas/NYE OKW stay.

The CM asked if I was going to use my 46 VWL points. I had no idea what she was talking about.

As it turns out, these were the points that we had added to our VWL membership this past Saturday. I had no idea that they were in the DVC system already. Here's where it got interesting.

Our use year is February. We had assumed that would be when we would have first access to the additional points. Apparently, since we ordered them prior to our use year, we now 46 points that we either had to use before 2/1, or they would expire. Much as I'd like to visit WDW on 3 days notice, it wasn't going to happen.

MS told me to call our DVC guide immediately and ask him to "file an exception on our behalf." I asked if this was the "one time banking" deal, and was told no.

Our rep was skeptical when I contacted him. He's never heard of this. He emailed them as we were speaking, but he kept repeating "I don't think that this is going to work."

Much to my delight, he called later to say that they were banked! It's as if we got a 46 point bonus.

I hope that I explained this clearly enough. If any of you are in this situation, you should look into it now.

It seems as if they are giving the points to you right away when you puchase an add-on. My use year is Oct and I purchased a 50 pt. add-on on Monday. I now have use of 50 pts. that expire on Sept. 30th. and will get another 50 this Oct.... I will probably bank the points forward.

Your guide should have alerted you to this when you purchased the points... Mine did!

I was also amazed at how fast they made it into their system. I called the morning after to make reservations and they were alredy in the account and available for use.

It was obvious that our sales rep didn't think that this was going to work out. With our use year being just a few days away, I can understand why he felt that way.

The nicest part was that MS took the time to explain this to me. They're so busy right now, they could have easily kept quiet and taken the next call.

Now the hard part is figuring out when we'll be using those unexpected points.

That's great news. It also nice to hear the MS CM took the time to not only tell you about the option but also helped make it happen.

This must be something that the guides must not know about. We were considering adding on in Sept. (our use year is Oct.). Our guide said that we wouldn't be able to bank those points. I did ask about the one time banking option and I believe he said we could do that. We ended up holding off on the add on, but if I would have know we could have banked those points, I'm sure we would have done it. Now we know for next time!
