I've read that in '07, Jersey Week will be the week of Nov. 5th. How does that affect the DVC resorts? The parks? :confused3
We were thinking of doing our F & W trip in Nov, instead of Oct next year. Should we steer clear of that week?
Thanks in advance to those "in the know". :thumbsup2

Grammy, I am one of those vile Jersey-ites who makes the treck every year. :teeth:

"Jersey week" is the week of election day, and schools are almost always closed the Thursday and Friday after election day due to a teacher's convention.

Many schools are closed other days that week as well (ours is closed the whole week). That year it will be 11/3 to 11/10 (If you go Sat to Sat).

The crowds for the most part of manageable. They are noticably heavier that Thursday than they will be the Monday before. They are also very light the Monday after. The last few years it has coincided with the "Super Soap" weekend, as well as the end of the F&W Festival. These events themselves bring lots of people. However, if you go during holiday time, I think you will find "Jersey Week" crowds to be quite manageable.

I have not had any problems myself making reservations at my home resort that week.

As a bonus, the weather is great!

I hope you didn't think I was implying anything re: Jersey-ites. I was just curious, since I hadn't heard of that week. :sad2:
Hey, being originally from NYC, there's no way I can't think of a Jersey-ite as anything but "neighbor"! :thumbsup2

There are lots of DVC members who live in NJ when they aren't at WDW. Lots of them visit WDW over Jersey week. If you want DVC accomodations for that time, make your reservation as soon as you can - especially if you want to stay at one fo the EPCOT resorts.

That's the main impact of "Jersey Week" as far as I'm concerned, LOL!

Best wishes -

We've been during Jersey week a few times and other times not. Honestly, unless someone told me, I'd never have noticed the difference. Other than having an excuse to say hi to someone from jersey, no real impact on crowds that I could see. Boy, I wish we had MA week in Nov... Have a great trip.

Grammy, no offense taken, I was joking myself. :thumbsup2

We've been during several Jersey Weeks (many PA schools have days off that week as well).
The last one was 2004. Mon-Wed wasn't bad at all, but come Thurs, Fri, Sat it was pretty crowded. We experienced 90+ waits for main attractions in all parks. I particularily recall Thurs, Nov 4 in the MK as being insane. Could barely walk without bumping into someone. We hopped over to Epcot and it was better. Not all Jersey Weeks we've attended have been this way, but 2004 (at least the second half of that week) was crazy
We boarded the Magic for a 7 night western cruise on Nov 6 and the ship had TONS of Jersey folk there. My ds made alot of friends and still keeps in contacts with many of the NJ kids he met on that cruise.

We were there for 'Jersey Week" in 2004 and 2005. Both times very busy. From the Thursday on you could really feel the 'crush' of people walking through the parks. However, the weather is great. The following Monday was great. We will be there this year as well.

As well, (can't pin the whole thing on Jersey) it is the closing weekend of F&W, Super Soap, Veterans Day, Festival of the Masters.....

Just requires a bit of pre-planning activities and maybe some restful periods by the pool when the crowds are heaviest !

We too were there during Jersey week in 2004. I wouldn't have known about it until a friend who is a Jersey native told me we were going during "Jersey Week". Didn't notice any crowding problems all week but did meet a lot of our Jersey neighbors. And as others have said the weather is perfect. FWIW it didn't stop us from booking again for Jersey week this year! My DDs have a few days off that week too this year.

Wow, really ? Were you in the MK on Nov 4 or 5th ? You couldn't deny the 90+ min waits for even Peter Pan and all the Mtn rides. By noon, the crowds were at mega levels. We went to MK during EMH on the 5th and it was very crowded that night as well. We left after 2-3 rides.
If not, you were very fortunate because it was packed on Thurs and Fri that week. Maybe you went to another park those days and got lucky ?

Our F&W trip last year overlapped with Jersey week by about 3 days. It went from very quiet (10 minute wait for R&R and T&T) to long waits and big crowds almost overnight. Buses were jammed packed. Sorry to not be more positive, if I lived in Jersey and had kids, I'd be there at that time, too, but my preference in the future will be to avoid that week if possible.
