Impact of Food and Wine Fest on BC and BW

Can someone share? I've heard mixed things. Is it even worth it staying at the BCV during the Food and Wine Festival? Will SAB be overcrowded and uncomfortable?

There really isn't much impact on SAB from those that go for F&W. [why do I feel like I'm writing in code?] Most will spend their afternoon dining around the world rather than laying around the pool.

The only impact I know of is that if you are using DVC points it is not easy to get into either one of these resorts if you are not an owner and booking before the 7 month window. There is always a possibility of getting into one of them at the 7 month window, but may have to spend some time on the waitlist. I'm a BWV owner and booked my ressie last week at the 11 month window. Good luck--btw, I've spent the last several F&W at the BWV and don't find it overly crowded.

I was already having difficulty deciding between AKV and SSR but now I will have to add BCV and BWV into the mix.

My sister in law had told me that the BCV were EXTREMELY crowded when she was there last Oct. She said that it was not that bad and then from the first day of the FAWF, the hotel became almost unnavigable. Do you think this was just a fluke?

Because of the location to EPCOT, these 2 resorts are very popular during F&W. I owned at SSR, but bought points at BWV just for our October trips and having that 11 month window to book.

As another poster pointed out, most people staying at those resorts during the F&WF are busy at Epcot, not hanging around the resort. As was pointed out, you'll have a hard time booking a DVC usint at either of those resorts during the F&WF, my guess is that some days are probably already sold out.

Really? I've got friends trying to book a 2BR villa there by renting points. I wonder if they'llhave a hard time. I put a post on the Rent/Trade points forum for them.

Anyway, I think we've decided to stay at AKV. It seems like a good option and I've heard alot of positive things about the bus system today.

I don't know...I'm always at BCV in October and I have never seen it "unnavigable." I am not even sure what that means.

I'd use it to describe World Showcase on a Saturday night in October, but not BCV.

You might be kicked out by a cast member who is doing his or her job. You're supposed to have a Beach/Yacht room key to get in. Assuming you're talking about Stormalong Bay; nobody probably cares about the BCV pool.

Um, I think it means that she couldnt make it through the lobby crowd and so she just gave up. She did mention World Showcase was really bad that day too so maybe it was the first day?

I know that the cast member wouldnt kick us out unless they WERE doing their job (just like the employees at the Mirage Pool in Las Vegas) but it really is frustrating that they have no problem w/ pool-hopping at any resort except that one. Oh well. That's what 'pro con' lists are for.

I stayed at the Boardwalk Inn at the beginning of the 2006 F&WF and did not experience any overcrowding. That said, the crowds at the parks seemed a bit larger, but were still quite manageable.

I agree, I've never found BWV to have that full feeling during F&W. I never had a problem finding a chair at the villa quiet pool.

BTW: If your friends are renting, maybe they need to try to rent from someone who owns at one of those resorts so that they can get a reservation before the 7 month window opens. Even if you make a reservation at AKV, you should still call and see if you can switch at the 7 month window. You never know!!

If the person they are renting from owns at the BCV or BWV they should be OK. At the seven month mark when those resorts open to all DVC members, a good chunk of the inventory is fully booked.

Disgruntled? That's a pretty rude thing to say about someone doing thier job. The rules exist for a reason--there is a finite amount of space at SAB, and everyone and their brother wants to swim there. The chances are that no, you will not be allowed to swim there. You might want to consider a day at a water park with them.

I have NEVER seen any resort lobby so crowded that you couldn't walk through it. EVER.

I have never experienced anyone at a disney resort being anything less than civil so I certainly meant no disrespect.

As far as the pools go, perhaps that rule I mentioned (about being free to visit other pools at other resorts) only applies to DVC members? Because my SIL's vacation club handbook mentions the fact that guests are welcome to visit friends at other resport pools EXCEPT for BC. I assumed that meant all guests but like I said, perhaps it was only referring to DVC members. I've visited my friends at the WL when I was a guest at POR and yes, they asked to see my room key but it was just to make sure I was a Disney guest, not a WL guest. But perhaps this was just a lenient cast member who though I was extra cute? LOL

We returned from a 9 day stay from Nov1st until the 10th at the BCV's. resort did not seem crowded at all. Maybe free dining was also occuring. The combination of the 2 may have caused crowds.

More and more the blue member card is being required in addition to the room key to use various DVC priveleges. As long as you are prepared to hear the word "no," have at it.
