Can someone share? I've heard mixed things. Is it even worth it staying at the BCV during the Food and Wine Festival? Will SAB be overcrowded and uncomfortable?
Hmmm, now I'm really torn.
I was already having difficulty deciding between AKV and SSR but now I will have to add BCV and BWV into the mix.
My sister in law had told me that the BCV were EXTREMELY crowded when she was there last Oct. She said that it was not that bad and then from the first day of the FAWF, the hotel became almost unnavigable. Do you think this was just a fluke?
I own at the BWV, and used to own at the BCV as well, and have never found either resort to feel overly crowded even when they were at 100% occupancy.
As another poster pointed out, most people staying at those resorts during the F&WF are busy at Epcot, not hanging around the resort. As was pointed out, you'll have a hard time booking a DVC usint at either of those resorts during the F&WF, my guess is that some days are probably already sold out.

Just a quick question...if we have friends staying at BCV, would it be really bad for us to sneak a swim w/ them ?
Or will we be kicked out by a disgruntled cast member?
I don't know...I'm always at BCV in October and I have never seen it "unnavigable." I am not even sure what that means.
I'd use it to describe World Showcase on a Saturday night in October, but not BCV.
You might be kicked out by a cast member who is doing his or her job. You're supposed to have a Beach/Yacht room key to get in. Assuming you're talking about Stormalong Bay; nobody probably cares about the BCV pool.
Really? I've got friends trying to book a 2BR villa there by renting points. I wonder if they'llhave a hard time. I put a post on the Rent/Trade points forum for them.

Um, I think it means that she couldnt make it through the lobby crowd and so she just gave up. She did mention World Showcase was really bad that day too so maybe it was the first day?
I know that the cast member wouldnt kick us out unless they WERE doing their job (just like the employees at the Mirage Pool in Las Vegas) but it really is frustrating that they have no problem w/ pool-hopping at any resort except that one. Oh well. That's what 'pro con' lists are for.
I have NEVER seen any resort lobby so crowded that you couldn't walk through it. EVER.
Actually, they do have a problem with it at a lot of other pools. I've seen people kicked out of the BWV pool, the Polynesian pool, and DH and I were asked for room cards on a cold January day when we walked into the GF main pool in street clothes just to look around. I know that the AKL and WL have been known to ask for room keys as well.

Really, it's rude to use the word 'disgruntled' now? Wow. Because I use it all the time and most of the time I get a smile in return due to the mental picture it brings...but whatever. I have never experienced anyone at a disney resort being anything less than civil so I certainly meant no disrespect.
As far as the pools go, perhaps that rule I mentioned (about being free to visit other pools at other resorts) only applies to DVC members? Because my SIL's vacation club handbook mentions the fact that guests are welcome to visit friends at other resport pools EXCEPT for BC. I assumed that meant all guests but like I said, perhaps it was only referring to DVC members. I've visited my friends at the WL when I was a guest at POR and yes, they asked to see my room key but it was just to make sure I was a Disney guest, not a WL guest. But perhaps this was just a lenient cast member who though I was extra cute? LOL
No biggie.
We returned from a 9 day stay from Nov1st until the 10th at the BCV's. resort did not seem crowded at all. Maybe free dining was also occuring. The combination of the 2 may have caused crowds.
disgruntle

Inflected Form(s): dis·grun·tled; dis·grun·tling \-ˈgrənt-liŋ, -ˈgrən-təl-iŋ\

Date: 1682
: to make ill-humored or discontented usually used as a participial adjective <they were a very disgruntled crew Flannery O'Connor>
dis·grun·tle·ment \-təl-mənt\ noun
I don't think that word describes most WDW cast, so yes I think it's offensive to generalize about all of them using that term.
You got lucky at the WL. Pool hopping privelges are for DVC OWNERS (not renters) who are staying on points. They are suspended during peak seasons, and are not valid at SAB or the AKL pools.
You seem very determined to think ill of me ducklite, which I think is odd since I simply used a word that , per your very own research, can simply mean to make 'discontented' which I certainly WOULD be were I asked to leave the best pool on earth!I've already made it clear that I am more than happy w/ Disney service, that I meant no offense, and so really, that should be the end of the conversation, no?
I guess I did get lucky. But I have already been assured by my SIL and all my friends who have rented from her that when you rent points, you are treated like you are the DVC owner with the same perks. So I'm planning to take advantage of that and if I'm corrected by a cast member who feels the need, I'll be glad to concede.
