Just curious as to how people here think the opening of BCV will impact BWV availability. Especially during key times like the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot. I understand that historically, BWV has been very difficult to book during that time.

Do you think having two Epcot/MGM location DVC resorts will make it easier to get one of them for previously difficult times?

Sorry if this rambles a bit. It's always interesting to me to see what the dynamics of new DVC homes will bring to future vacations.

With a DVCer with BWV home resort...I hope the BCV makes ressies easier to get...:D :D

I also hope the opening of BCV will make BWV reservations easier to get. I think it will since there will now be 2 Epcot DVC resorts to choose from.

I agree. Now the OKW, VB and HH DVC'ers will have another option in the area and there should be more availablity at BWV.

That's what I'm hoping as well. BCV should take the pressure off of BWV.

But in adding all those rooms at BCV, they are also adding a lot of members. So I'm not sure what kind of availability will really be "freed up".

If SAB pool hopping goes away (heaven forbid), then you wouldn't think there would be as many BCV members trying to switch into BWV, would you?

Keep bringing those opinions and forecasts out. Speculation of this kind is one of the best things about this board (other than the nice people who post here)! :)

But that does not explain the difficulty that BWV owners have reported at the 11 month window (or at least before the 7 month window). Nevertheless, I would think that BCV will indeed spread out some of the location motivated reservations and improve availability at some times at BWV.

Good points Doctor P. We know the Standard View will always be tough to get at BWV for those with DVC homes elsewhere. And some peak times will probably be tough as well.

I'm thinking that at the seven months' window, there seem to be a significant number of availability problems for switching into BWV.

I'll toss this out as well. Is it possible that there are a number of BWV owners who really like SAB and will switch ressies to BCV at the 7 month window? That could also free up some BWV.

You BWVers out there, please don't flame me. I'm not suggesting that you would ever want to stay anywhere but BWV. Just trying to guess on the impact of BCV for future ressies.

I think it can only help.

Granny,
I am a BWV owner and I can't wait to stay at BCV! I love Stormalong Bay, Yachtsmans Steakhouse, Cape May Clam Bake, and just the whole YC/BC resort. It will also be nice to stay in brand new villas. Don't get me wrong, I love my home resort of BWV but we also want to stay at BCV and also WLV and HH. It is so much fun planning a DVC trip with so many great choices!

I sure hope it frees up some rooms.

I own at BWV but haven't been able to stay there for the last year--we simply cannot get a room, even at 11 months out!

Thank goodness we like OKW! Had we known then what we know now we would have just saved our money and purchased at OKW.

GoldenPrincess -

When do you travel? We are OKW owners but have had no trouble getting rooms at BWV at the 7 month window. (We usually split our stay between the two resorts).

I also wonder what kind of impact of the new BCVs will have on BWV availability. I'm thinking there won't be much of a change since they only declare a portion of the inventory at a time into the member category.

Granny- I agree with your point that in adding a new resort, they are adding new members as well. My take on this is as long as BCV is not sold out there will perhaps be an easier time getting in at the 7 month window. Also, being a new resort many non BCV owners will want to try it so you may have an increased demand for BCV- which may have the temporary affect of opening up BWV. This is about the time when we will start to see how easy it is to get in for late fall. A year from now I believe it will be a totally different story. I think the polls and opinions voiced on this board support the notion that people buying into BCV and BWV do so specifically because of their preference for the location and SAB. So I believe this type of owner is less inclined to want to "try" other resorts and will make the majority of their ressies at their home resort. I think this theory is supported by the tremendous sales for BCV. While many are buying BCV because it's whats available, I believe there was quite a list of people waiting to buy in this specific location.

We will be at BWV from July 6 - 13. A couple of months ago, I tried to add the night of the 5th, but everything was booked. I went on a waitlist, but called and had myself taken off about a month later and decided to stay near Seaworld for a night. Well, plans changed again, so I called today and was able to book a standard studio without any problems. I was pretty surprised, considering it is the holiday weekend. I figured that some who had booked at BWV probably switched over to BCV once they started booking.

I am a BWV owner and just switched my standard view BWV 1 bedroom to a 1bedroom at BCV at my 7 month window. I love BWV and plan on staying there most of the time (especially with the value of a standard view), but I just wanted our family to give BCV a try while it's brand new. We always go in Nov. during the Food and Wine Festival, and BWV is very difficult to get if you don't call at 11 months. Hopefully BCV will help take some of the crowd away from BWV and make it easier for those who wish to stay there. In my case, since I was able to get BCV, I'm sure someone else was able to take my standard view at BWV.

kem330....my gut tells me that you are right. People who buy BCV have been wanting the central location and SAB seems to mean a lot to them. I think many DVCers like to sample other DVC homes, but you may be right that BCV owners do not switch away from home as much.

I guess a lot depends on whether they close SAB to pool hopping.

Thanks all for your comments and opinions.

Speaking as a new BCV owner, we have no intention of going anywhere else at this point. It is new at this point, so maybe after a while we might change our mind, but for now, we plan to stay at our "home". I have been waiting for a long time for this, acutally 3 years ago while BWV were still available we took the tour, and I stood on the boardwalk and pointed accross to Beach Club and told my husband "now if they ever open a DVC there, I would jump at the chance to buy".

I called two weeks ago for BWV at 8 mos (new member, first ressie), but was told everything was booked. MS told me that BWV was more difficult than usual due to the ongoing renovations throughout the resort taking so many rooms out of availability. I'm on the waiting list and waiting for the seven month window to either open up BWV or to jump into another resort.

I also tried BWV for Labor Day week, but was again denied availability. Surprisingly though, BCV had rooms available. New resort! I'm there!

:smooth:

It will be interesting to see what happens. I have to wait until May to call at the 7 month window for either BCV or BWV. I'll be curious to see what's available.

BWV's is my home resort. I called yesterday and was able to book week in January in a std. one bedroom. Last full week of January if that helps anyone. I was kind of surprised I was able to get std. view on the first try.

Nicky, I was just curious as to what dates you canceled your standard 1 br. I have 7 rooms for the 10th-15th, 3 standard and the other preferred on waiting lists for standard. Thanks.
