We have taken the Eastern Cruise twice and hate the early rising for immigration on St Thomas day. By reading the Western Navigators, it looks like there is not this kind of torture. Do we only have to do immigration when we dock back at Port Canaveral? No cattle call in the theater?

MY UNDERSTANDING WAS ONLY NON-USA CITIZENS HAD TO MEET VERY EARLY WITH CUSTOMS.(AS OF 6/19/04 WESTERN MAGIC)

No immigration on the Western except when you clear Customs coming home in Port Canaveral because that's the first time you come back into the US.

On the Eastern, you have immigration at St. Thomas because you're coming "back" to US soil after being in a "foreign" port.

The Eastern cruises in August that go to San Juan and St. Thomas won't have immigration at St. Thomas.

Yep, only non-us citizens meet debarkation morning, very early.

A US citizen..only has to go down..to a different area, if they went over any of the limits on mdse/alcohol to declare that and see if there are any additional charges. All very easy!

Very true, after having stood in the relatively short line just before 6:30 a.m. last Saturday. From what I was hearing the 2nd examiner say while mine was toting up my duty charges, it seems that if you go over the alcohol limit, but the duty is under $10, they'll waive the extra duty charge. He made a point of stating the "since you declared properly and it's under $10...."

Was chatting with the Duty Free Store CM and he was telling a story about a guy who travelled with 41 family members and ended up purchasing two cases of Crown Royale and a lot of other bottles. That must have been a heck of a delivery to the stateroom the night before disembarking!
