Do any of you have an immersion blender?

If so, what kinds of things do you make with it? Can you make dips and things like that? I just ordered one, so I can use some ideas!

Yes, we do and we use it for many things.

We use it to puree soups, make whipped cream, chop nuts, essentially whir it on anything that needs to be blended.

We don't use it to chop ice though, or make frozen drinks. We keep the standard blender for that.

I love love love my Cuisinart immersion blender.

Mostly I use it for pureeing soups. I tend not to use cream, but I like creamy soups, so I'll whir 1/4 of a soup and it kind of binds the whole dish together. (My v. favorite is making roasted chicken with veggies, taking out the chicken, adding a bit of broth to the veggies and whirring away. It was the best, most intensely creamy, chicken-y, rich soup...)

I've also used it for whipped cream, the worlds best hot chocolate, milk for in home coffee drinks (lattes, mochas), pesto, smoothies.

As PP said, I don't use mine for anything icy. I don't use it daily, but it's worth the small amount of space it takes up.

Thanks, I'm excited to try it out! I've been wanting to make some blended soups (like Boma's butternut squash), but haven't had a decent blender. I saw one on sale through Amazon, so I thought I'd pick it up.

We use ours for soups, pureeing other things (think hummus). Our also has a whisk attachment to use for baking, and a chopping attachment-great for onions.
