I believe Assets at Target are made from the same Spanx company, I have bought both the footless nylons and regular nylons and believe they work great! These are still like $16 so it makes me mad when I put my finger through one!
I wear assets almost everyday (they are made by Spanx). I find the difference to be that they don't give the same lift your butt as spanx do (just more hold it all in), and the fabric isn't as smooth, so if you are wearing under cotton, you might "stick" and need a slip.
Like a PP said, the Assets brand is a slightly lower quality but at a much better price. I have both Assets and Spanx. The Spanx do a better job (and it's a nicer material) but cost so much more. I would recommend trying the Assets brand first before paying a premium price for the Spanx.

I'm curious if ya'll know something though - I just bought a simple little black dress, straight up and down with seaming - that very sixties sort of sheath dress.
I've got an hourglass figure, but I need to get rid of a little pooch and smooth everything out. I don't want any visible lines from my undergarments.
Do ya'll know if Assets makes a one piece that would have boy legs (maybe a little longer) or if Spanx does? I tried looking on Target's site but didn't see anything. . .I'll hunt down Spanx site next. (But I got the dress for a heck of steal - $15, so I don't want to spend more than $25 for the underwear!)
If you live near an outlet mall, check out the Maidenform store. I got two body suits that you wear with your own bra and two long tanks for less than $50 total of the sale rack.
I bought my DD 2 pair of Assets boy shorts to wear under dresses or to wear when she jogs. After a month, one pair has the thread is coming out of one of the the leg seams causing the seam to unravel. I never put these in the drier, either. The quality is not as good as the true Spanx.
