Hi everybody! My grocery store had a great sale on imitation crab meat, so I picked a bunch up. However, I only have one or two recipes for it!

Do you have any great recipes that use imitation crab? Thanks!!

Sure do! This is from my MIL:

HASTY SHORE DINNER (BIL calls it white noodle stuff)
1 cup small shell pasta, cooked
½ cup mayonnaise
½ cup milk
1 can condensed cream of celery soup
1 package (8 ounces) imitation crabmeat, cut into chunks
1 can (4 ounces) shrimp
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded swiss cheese
1 can (2.8 ounces) Durkee French Fried Onions
½ teaspoon dill
½ teaspoon seasoned salt
I usually use much more crab and cheese. I also use frozen shrimp, and more than 4 ounces. Use these to your own taste.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix together cooked pasta, mayonnaise, milk, soup, crabmeat, shrimp, ½ cup cheese, ½ can onions and the seasonings. Mix well. Pour into a casserole dip and bake, either covered or uncovered (I usually do it uncovered, makes a nice crust with the cheese) for about 35 minutes or until heated through. Top with remaining cheese and onions, bake uncovered, until golden brown. Can make ahead and just throw in oven.

Hope that helps! :)

I put it in my Bisque Soup.

1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can of cream of celery soup
1 can of milk
1 can of water
1 can or 2 cups chicken bouillon (i use cubes to cut back on water so its thicker)
2 TBS butter
onions (optional)
Parsley
Paprika

I usually cube & boil potatoes and put them in too and use the potato water.

I use this recipe with clams or broccoli but you can put anything you want in it.

The only thing I've ever done with it is make California Rolls.

Crab Stuffed Mushrooms

Clean and remove stems of button mushrooms. Mix brick of cream cheese, 1/2 cup parmesean cheese, Tbsp or 2 garlic powder and 1/2 pack to pack crab meat. I don't measure, any variation is good. Stuff mushrooms, drizzle with melted butter and bake at for about 30 minutes at 350.

These are better than most restaurants IMO.

I just made an imitation crab meat quiche yesterday. Let's see...crab meat, 4 eggs, 1/4 c. milk, a pinch of nutmeg, some crushed garlic, salt/pepper, and chopped red pepper (asparagus or any other crisp veggie would also work). Poured it into a pie shell, topped with shredded cheddar blend and baked at 350 for 40 min or so.

I would totally make crabcakes! I don't have a recipe, but I'm sure you could find one on allrecipes.com

I made lasagna rollups with it and we liked it.

Make a white sauce, add a bunch of different cheeses and the crabmeat. Serve over rice and broccoli. It's wicked yummy.

I like to make a seafood salad, basically make chicken salad with celery, onion and mayo but use imitation crab instead, and then put it on top of a regular salad.

I eat it with cocktail sauce, or make a newburg sauce and put it over Peppridge Farm puff pastry shells.

If I'm feeling lazy I just warm the crabmeat in a pan with a little butter then dump in some eggs that have been scambled with a touch of milk. If I want to go deluxe I saute the crabmeat, onions, mushroom, sometimes chopped fresh spinach--then use it as filling for an omelet. Extra energetic--mix some Knorr Hollandaise (sp?) sauce up & put that on the top. Wicked good! :thumbsup2

Another simple throw together meal is the crabmeat sauted with garlic & butter/olive oil then tossed with angel hair pasta. Easy & well-liked! I second the crabcakes too...I really don't have a recipe though since I just throw it together. I do put the crabmeat in a food processor to make it extra fine, then mix in an egg, mayo, saltine cracker crumbs, finely chopped onions, seasoning to taste, then my secret ingredient is chopped green chiles (or jalepenos if the kids aren't eating them). Form them into patties & fry them up--we call them crabby patties at our house! Yummy!

Looking forward to seeing everyone elses ideas!

Thanks everybody! All these recipes look and sound really yummy! I think I'll try some of them out this week! :thumbsup2

Crab toast:

~8 ounces shredded crab meat
~1/3 cup mayo
~6 ounces shredded swiss cheese
1 package Hidden Valley dry ranch mix

Mix together first three ingredients, season to taste with ranch mix (I tend to like more, but it gets pretty salty). You may need a little more mayo and I definitely bump up the recipe with more swiss if I have it around!

Spread over either thin-sliced french or italian bread (french bread is better) and place under broiler until bubbly and lightly browned. Cut slices in half if they are large and serve fresh/warm.

Yummm! (and why isn't there a drool emoticon?!)
