iMessage on Fantasy

We were on the Dream in December, and iMessage worked pretty well most of the time. Can any recent cruisers comment on how it's working on the Fantasy? We cruise in May.

I just got off the Fantasy this past Saturday. It worked great! I kept up like three consistent conversations with on land folks via iMessage while on the ship.

It was working on the Wonder last month so I assume it's also happening on the Magic, but I don't know for certain. I think it's fleet wide at this point, though.

I think I saw it somewhere but I couldn't remember the answer, so I'll ask again. Do you have to buy a WiFi plan to do this or is iMessage "free" on the ships?

I just got off the Fantasy last Saturday and it worked pretty well. There was some lag time occasionally that it took a text to go through. You do not have to use your wifi data plan to send the messages. The only strange thing was that on my daughter's iphone, it would occasionally change her settings to where it said iMessage waiting for activation. When that happened, I couldn't get her iMessage to work unless I logged in on her phone using my data plan to "activate" her iMessage again. After that, she could text again without any Wifi data plan.
