This is Evan's birthday day! He turned 11 .. sniff, my baby is growing up too fast! LOL
Evan was up BEFORE me today!LOL but he's always been like that .. my "fault" I suppose, because I do make a big deal of birthdays - I love mine! LOL Like your own little holiday ya know? <g> I've got NO qualms about my age - 38 now - and honestly don't foresee any for the future either. I'm having WAY more fun for the most part, now than I did when I was younger! LOL To have to go back and relive everything, with the mistakes?? No way! LOL
Ev had already gotten his "big" birthday present before we left home, but I'd brought along some smaller things for him and also bought some little things he'd looked at so far on the trip when he was out of sight. Alec & Dave had gotten up by this point, awaken I guess by Evan & I out on the balcony singing! LOL yes, I could resist no longer, and it was his bday and he wanted to do it too .. so we stood side by side and just belted out that song I mentioned in an earlier post! LOL Silly .. but fun truthfully!! And he sure will remember it, 'cause I can't sing at ALL!!
We were having room service breakfast at Ev's request, and while waiting for that, he opened his gifts. Alec had already given him his gift before leaving too.
My MIL had sent along hers and I'd held it for today.
The breakfast came, and this was a REALLY good one. I had the Eggs Benedict over Filet strips, instead of ham, and a flavored Hollandaise .. SO good!! Also with that were breakfast potatoes with peppers & onions. Evan and Alec had the French toast again, with bacon and Dave had the Pancakes & bacon. After we finished eating, Evan said he wanted to just laze around for a bit .. no problem for me! LOL Again, a big 'plus' to being there a while is that you can do that.
About 10:15 or so, we all finally decided we needed to get moving, so we went down to catch the bus to the MK. It came fairly quickly, but still .. I haven't gotten any more used to the idea of having to take the buses all the time, as opposed to the monorail or launch, like when at the Grand! LOL
First stop at the MK was City Hall, to get Evan a birthday button. The lady who gave it to him was sweet, wished him a Happy Birthday but then got very serious .. called him over to a phone there .. asked him if he had anyone else he knew who was supposed to be in the MK today. "No" he said .. then she got a quizzical look on her face and said "Well .. that's strange because there's a phone message waiting for you from a friend!" She punched a few buttons, told him to pick up .. and as he listened he started laughing, and got a huge smile on his face ~ it was a recorded birthday song/message from Goofy! LOL SO CUTE!!
We headed over to Tomorrowland, and took 2 spins around on TTA - this is still one of my favorites. Evan's bday money that I let him bring (some of it) was burning a hole in his pocket, so we shopped around there a little, but he didn't see anything he really wanted that badly. Ever notice that when kids are spending their OWN money, they're much more sensible with their choices? LOL
Since we were in the area, we also picked up some FP for Space Mountain.
It was already time for our lunch PS at the Plaza! LOL so we went and checked in, and were seated immediately.
After lunch, we used our FP for Space, and the timing was right so we practically walked onto my absolute favorite in the MK, COP. I know this is probably going to be gone soon, at least from what I've read here & there
but I wish it wouldn't ... this has been my favorite since I was a kid, and it's Evan's too! ::sigh::
Pooh had some absurd wait time AND a LONG return time for the FP, so we skipped that, but we did get to ride Dumbo! LOL Everything else in Fantasyland was just jam packed though, so we simply walked on through to Frontierland. The boys wanted some candy, so we headed into the little store there by the HM ... where we (and everyone else w/n a mile radius probably!) got the "treat" (not!) of watching these parents, who were sitting on the rockers out in front of the store, just sit there and rock, calm as could be, while their child .. I guess he was about
4 or 5, stand in the middle of the exit steps .. SCREAMING his fool head off, throwing a MAJOR fit, NOT moving, so that everyone had to manuver around him, and the parents just SAT THERE!! (and I do know that they were the parents, because I heard someone else say "is that your child?" and they said 'yes') This tantrum was because he didn't get something he wanted in the store! It's all fine & good to not get a child everything he wants, of course!LOL but please .. DON'T let him scream like a banshee AND block the exit to the store for goodness sake!!
Evan wanted to do one last HM run, and there wasn't much of a wait (I don't know why they put FP here .. it's rarely needed!!) When we came out of there, I wanted to do HOP, no one else did!LOL so Dave & the boys stayed at the shooting gallery while I was watching that. We all met back up when it was over, and checked out the BTMRR & Splash lines - unfortunately, both were LONG and the FP returns were for after we'd be gone. POC however, had no wait, so we took a last ride, and then shopped in the store there a bit, and took refuge from the afternoon storm there as well. Luckily, it didn't last TOO long, and we were heading through Adventureland in no time.
Never did get to ride Aladdin's Magic Carpets (or whatever they're called! LOL) There was always a line, and I just didn't want to wait for something that frankly, seemed a little lame to me.. We took a last run on JC, TikiRoom and I had my last eggroll & DoleWhip of the trip also.
Once back out on Main Street, we picked up some souvenirs and then headed out of the MK, and only had a short wait for the boat over to FW for the next part of the day .. Hoop De Doo!!
.. to be continued ...
