Imagine you could replace a country in World Showcase! which one and why?

Replace Italy. I find nothing to do there.
Any new country should have an attraction.
Being Irish, I would love an Irish pavillion. But that will never happen.

I would never want to see the American Pavillion replaced. It is the Host Pavillion. That is why it is situated where it is. We are the Hosts of all the countries involved. I love American Adventure - it gives me a rush of Patriotism & a Swelling of Pride every time I see it. That can never be a bad thing.

Last time I was there we watched the Fife and Drum Corp march and play...It was very inspirational and I just loved it! :goodvibes

I would NEVER want to get rid of the American pavillion although I would love to get rid of their food court and replace it with something that has better food. I like the countries that exist but if I had to get rid of one it probably would be Canada. Love the restaurant there though

I think I'd do a number of things... first of all, get Siemens or BMW or Daimler Chrysler to pony up the bucks to finish the German boat ride. THEN I'd think about adding some other countries. I'd love to see Russia (imagine a scaled down Red Square and St. Basil's, perhaps a recreation of the Hermitage in St. Petersburg with art on loan from the museum).

Other countries I'd go for would be Brazil, South Africa, South Korea, Greece, and Egypt.

Wow! So much Norway bashing.
I'm shocked.
Must be all the cold fish. :crazy2:
Norway is one of my favorites.
Must be others too, I mean, even the ride has a fast past.

I'd like to see China go.
It just holds no interest for me.

I'd like to see what other members here have for pavillion ideas too!
Don't just name countries.
What do you want to see?
A type of ride or just a movie?
Do you want it because of the food?
Someone said Egypt because they love the pyramids, which I do too, but how can that be built into the pavillion?
How would walking into the Egyptian pavilion be different from Morocco?
And what kind of rides would these new countries have?
Or do people want those movies (that I've personally banned myself from seeing after my first time in Disney)?

India would be cool.
The architecture is pretty distinctive and the food is uncommon in Disney.
Greece gets my vote too.

I'm Irish and Ireland is beautiful but I can't see it having it's own pavillion.
What would be the draw that's distinct from England?
I'd love to hear some ideas on that.

Transylvania would be awesome!
I know it's part of Romania and I'm sure that don't want to promote that part of thier history but man-o-man that would really be a draw to the World Showcase! Can you imagine it during Halloween too? :teeth:

Holland would be interesting too, imho.
The ride could consist of a boat tour and at some part in the ride a **** "breaks" and we're sent on a Splash Mountain-like fall. I'm sure it could be done in a reassuring and heroic way for the people of Holland.
It would also be interesting to see if the "Little Dutch Boy" makes it to the Disney pavillion.
Since American tourists in Holland were always asking about him and the Dutch didn't know what they were talking about. :confused3
I read that they built a statue just to make the tourists happy. lol

Anyway, just so long as there's beer I'll be happy with any country.
;)

I'd keep them all, but if I had to, I'd take out Canada. I mean c'mon...I live in America, so why do we need to have "America, Jr." represented? ;)

I would like to see Russia or a South American country, possibly Chile, because of it's extremes in climate and elevation and they could add a Pisco Sour cart out front to extend our bi-annual "Drinks around the World" tour :drinking1 .

booooooooooo! :teeth:

Hm, I really don't know if I'd want to replace one either, I'd rather add to the WS. But if I had to replace, I think I would replace either Morrocco or South Africa (I think that's what that is. It's not really a pavillion though, more like a tent.) And in it's place I would DEFINTELY include GREECE! I've been saying that for the longest time, "When are they gonna add Greece to the World Showcase"? I saw someone wrote Ireland-that's a good one too. But my vote would be Greece, without a doubt.

Oh yeah, by the way, suprised about the reaction to Norway, it's always been one of my favorite Pavillions. And I think it's important to keep America b/c we are, after all, the Host pavillion. Ya gotta represent your own country!

(PS-Today I can finally do the long-awaited SIngle Digit Dance!!! Woo-Hoo! 9 Days!!! :cool1:  :dancer: )

Interesting post. We can only get rid of an existing country if that country stops funding it, and can only put in a new one if that country wants to start funding one…

That being said, I think Greece would be great. I like the ideas for the rides in Apollo’s chariot over Greece a la Soarin’, or make it an actuall ride past episodes of Greek mythology, which could be done up in all sorts of creative ways by Imagineering, I would think.

Australia and New Zealand could perhaps be combined? I know they are separate countries, but they are similar in the eyes of the rest of the world and then they could split the cost.

I would also love Russia, very interesting architecture and history. Egypt could also be fun if a nice ride were added to explore their mythology and history as well.

How about a nice tropical island country? Hard to get the money to fund an Epcot country, probably, but I wouldn’t mind a tropical themed country. Perhaps Jamaica – then you could do a Pirates of the Carribean movie tie-in for the kiddies (and grown up kiddies who still dream of being Pirates, argh!) pirate:

Spain could make a nice world as well. Guests could be tortured as part of their exhibit on the Inquisition? :badpc: Hmmm. Maybe not… :rolleyes1

If Chile or South Africa are added, then there darn sure better be PENGUINS involved somewhere! PENGUINS RULE! :cold: (Or you could do an Antarctica exhibit, haha)

German boat ride???

Get rid of Canada/USA - too similar

Replace it with something from South American continent e.g. Brazil as they have no representation from there at all.

Personally, I would want India though, such a very rich culture. And just think of it.... Indian curry at Epcot (drool)

pirate: Replace China, Japan & France with an electronic directory screen for Hong Kong Disneyland / Tokyo Disneyland / EuroDisney (respectively)... pirate:

Just kidding.

There's that 'outpost' area between China & Germany that would be the obvious place for another pavillion. I'd love to see Australia, Thailand, India, Russia, Greece, Brazil, Chile, Argentina - take your pick.

U.S. could be replaced - ain't that what the rest of WDW is about?

All I can say is the "World" is my oyster (sorry, couldn't resist).

I'd keep them all, but (living in Rio de Janeiro - Brazil) I felt very interesting :teeth: some posts suggesting Brazil at Epcot !

Brazil is a big country, so we have different climates (the Tropical Climate :sunny: prevails). Each region has your own culture and traditions that came with the different people who immigrated (portuguese, german, holand, african, spanish, italian). Because of this , the food , dance :cool1: are very assorted and the people here love to take foreigner people as guests.:flower:

The other countries that would be also great, IMO, would be Australia, South Africa and Spain.
:goodvibes

Italy needs an update BAD; there's so much they could do with that country to make it interesting. Right now, there's just nothing to do there. So Italy doesn't need to be replaced, just an update.

I would then replace Morocco with Greece or Egypt. I'd rather it be Greece, but both would be cool.

I would love to see the American Pavilion replaced with the Native American Pavilion; or at least as an addition to it. No I'm not Native American (although I do have Native American heritage), I just think it could be a wonderful pavilion. :earsgirl:

I have been saying for years, if it's the American pavillion, Why doesn't it show all Americans??? It has always seemed a bit one sided. I personally see Liberty Square all over again. I would love to see Greece or Egypt. Maybe they should put in a country like Kuwait or Saudi Arabia. My husband is in Iraq and has been to a couple of counties in SWA and loves the shopping :rotfl2:

This does not mean that I want the American Pavillion replaced, just a little more inclusive. I'm all for patriotism, being a disabled Veteran, but there are so many aspects of American culture that are just left out.

Please take this lightly in the manner it was written...JMHO here...I would have to completely disagree with getting rid of the American Pavilion! Growing up this show was was one of my favorite things in EPCOT and now that I'm old enough to truly appreciate the country I live in, I love to go there and feel our rich history once more! The singers (I can't remember the group name) before the show are great as well! Even though we are IN the United States there are TONS of us who go through everyday life without a true appreciation of how blessed we are to have such a rich heritage in so many ways. We also need to remember that although a majority of visitors are US citizens, there are MANY foreigners that visit DW and I think that it's great for them to see this appreciative side of the US.

Okay...off my Patriotic Soapbox....back on topic...

If one HAD to be replaced instead of just adding another country I would replace Italy (since there's hardly ANYTHING there but a restaurant) with either Ireland, Egypt, or Australia.... :wizard:

Actually, if you remember, American Adventure does have Chief “From where the sun now stands, I will fight no more” Joseph in one of the vignettes.

Take out Canada, add Switzerland and Egypt. Imagine an Egyptian paviloin! That would be soooo cool! They could put a ride in it. Awesome! I want to design it! lol

Totally agree. Love the American Pavillion. Can't wait till my Mom hears the singers. She is going to love it.

I wouldn't want to see any of them go, but if I had to pick one, it would be Japan. The entertainment is better in China with the acrobats but the food is better in Japan...........but we usually eat other places at WS.Neither China or Japan draw us in with their food, but I still like China better.

I would love to see Australia, Greece (most definately), RUSSIA.......now that would be a cool one. And Brazil...........there should definately be one from that country.
