Interesting WDI filing with the Orange County Comptroller regarding Imagination

A recent Imagineering filing with the Orange County Comptroller has raised a few eyebrows. The description of the work is simply - "Imagination Demolition". Sometimes these official public record documents can be a bit vague, but if taken in it's most basic sense, this phrase could be very significant for one of the Epcot pavilions that has lost it's way a little in recent years. NO!!!!!!!! I agree, it has lost it's way, ever since Mr DreamFinder left and they changed the original Figment ride, but demolish it?

I read somewhere else that they are actually doing some work there including a rehab of the Kodak imaging area that is in the exit of the Imagination Pavillion.

By definition a rehab could include some demolition.

Before anyone jumps to conclusions...

No, they are NOT demolishing the Imagination Pavilion. But there will be some fairly heavy construction going on. Notice that this permit was filed by Walt Disney Imagineering itself, not the WDW Co. that normally files these things. Word on the street is that there are some big changes in store for Figment's place. ;)

I was at Epcot yesterday and talked with several CMs outside the Imnagination Pavilion. Basically the changes are to the Image Works, and to a small extent the store. Since Journey Into Imagination exits into the Image Works, they had to close the attraction. I believe that February 25th is the date scheduled for the reopening; with it only being closed four weeks is not time to do anything really major.

Yes, but this is a new permit filed just last Friday. The permit for the current work being performed on the Kodak Image Works was filed back on 12/11/2007. It can be found here:

And again, notice that it was filed by the WDW Co., not WDI. This is something completely different. ;)

Strange, you sounded just like Eric Idle when you said that.

That's CRRREEEE-PEEEEEEE.

Hey, I'd be glad if they did some major demolition and brought back something more like the original ride. Like I said in a thread a little while ago about Imagination, the original was a favorite for my sister and I when we were growing up. We LOVED the Figment room with the Imagination song playing. Maybe I'll try to be optimistic!

I don't think they would demolish much since they are doing work with the figment attraction and there are plans to redo the preshow area of HISTA so those attractions seem to be safe for a while. Hopefully, things are changing for the better.

Okay, I miss my Dreamfinder w/ the real Figment & it seems like lots of folks do too, but does anyone else feel that it's time for HISTA to make way for something new? We just don't care for it at all & never have, especially w/o the fantastic pre-show anymore.

It would seem a bit funny to demolish this building with things still in it when the Wonders of Life building is sitting there basically empty with no plans to get rid of that building.

Well, when they fix up the Kodak section, I hope they re-train the folks working it, too. Last September the man running the photo lab thing (sorry, can't think of what it's called) wanted to show me (sell me) something and put my memory card into the reader and then pulled it out without ejecting it and corrupted 400 pictures and ruined the card! :scared:

Oops -- that was totally off topic. I heard Imagination and Figment and Kodak and it all came rushing back! :rolleyes1
