A version of Cars land is going in where LMA. Some type of monsters inc. land will also be going in (with the Monster Hangar coaster).

Maybe and not likely, monsters coaster was planned a long time ago but never happened.

I was very surprised with how much 14 acres took up in the park. So we know it will be a big land!



I also wondered this!

Wife and I have been visiting WDW for 20 years from UK and love the parks, so change is good...but we don't want to lose everything from Hollywood studios. it seems there have been far too many closures recently. We did wonder why close things a year or two before work will even start on the replacement?

Cars land is about 12 acres. Diagon alley is also similar in size.

DHS is getting rebranded.

Well there have been permits for launch bay at animation already and the exterior is currently being repainted.

I know you were talking about permits on where the two lands would go but saying the animation building is getting work means that building is staying.

I was more saying propagating the rumors on a completley unsubstantiated "3rd and 4th" lands...

My spidey sense tells me all the "insiders" on the other boards are getting bold - and aggressive - and I didnt even peek.

Well I think it's pretty obvious that Star Wars and toy story will not touch LMA and surround area. Therefore with the new theme of the park of stepping into the movies LMA doesn't fit. Something is going there we just don't know what.

LMA fits its a stunt show and if the rumors are true and indie is going , there needs to be a stunt show however they could change the show. there is lots of room where the backlot tour area was and when you take out catastrophy canyon, you have a huge footprint plenty of room for expansion

There is absolutely nothing to justify your stance at this time.

Well i guess there is nothing to justify where Star Wars will exactly go but I think it's pretty certain where toy story will go. TSMM is in the concept art, toy story will go behind the ride building.

Sure there is. There were huge $$$ rumors of the overall investment in DHS and were being debated in the community. There has also been reported in the community that there are 3 lands being proposed for DHS [when I say community - I'm talking those who do podcast covering Disney].

People where having hard time reconciling the $$$ numbers, but with the rumors of 3 lands going into DHS those numbers don't seem unreasonable.

LOL, way to waffle. Of course we really don't know until they announce it. As we know, no plans ever goes away - just stored away until the next opportunity rolls along. It sounds like the concept of the layout of Pandora is coming from an "old" plan just modified for the theme.

I'm slightly encouraged that Staggs is now making some timeline hints/promises...that's more than I would have expected right now.

I can't shake the feeling that the up and down of a certain stock price in recent weeks MIGHT have something to do with the whole "news cycle" on this...

I agree shovels are "ground truth". But there is too many things being closed that support there has to be substantial changes.

We just have to hope that there is no economic melt down in the near future and Universal keeps upping the pressure on WDW to feel they have to do something big.

Unfortunately we probably won't see anything substantive for at least a couple more years and we will just have to enjoy the leaks and rumors.

Yes that is true but there have been many other concepts discussed at this time. Cars, monsters, incredibles, guardians of the Galaxy. Those have all been rumored. Right now it looks like cars would be the best bet for what phase 3 could be.

I don't disagree (well maybe with the incredibles being a viable option). When I heard that this was the last year for Osborne lights and the rumors that LMA is going away - I think of Cars land going into the area.

LMA as it is now doesn't really fit since they are moving away from the "how movies are made" theme.

That would be an incredible amount of money for the "little sister" park in Florida. It doesn't make sense to go that far for a number of reasons...the biggest one perhaps because it would greatly increase the overhead/operational cost of that park and wouldn't necessarily feed people into downtown...which is the point of what will end up being a 10 year gut of downtown - more cheap profit with lower overhead.

From my side...no matter what "the Spirit" says...TWDC has not proven that they are up for this - whatever the reasons - in central Florida over the last 15 years.

They seem to have gotten sticker shock with NFL...which was a no brainer addition there due to rapidly increasing attendance.

I'll wait for them to prove me wrong...i'd be delighted, actually.

Until then...I wait for heavy equipment.

I think that the recent announcement of groundbreaking in 2016 instead of 2017 has absolutely nothing to do with Universal and everything to do with ESPN. ESPN has been a cash cow for Disney for years but it's on shaky ground. Analysts and investors are nervous about its future. Disney had to generate buzz somehow that detracts from the negative talk about ESPN, which is negatively affecting its stock price. For a long time, that talk was directed toward Shanghai, but with the economic issues in China, people are now starting to question whether that is really going to be a big revenue generator for Disney, and the analysts aren't as interested in Shanghai anymore as they used to be. However, there is nothing more exciting in Disney's holdings than Star Wars, and they're capitalizing on that now in an attempt to stop further degradation of its stock price.
