I'm.........

I found what I hope is a better recipe using Jiffy corn muffin mix. I have one that’s pretty good, but I always want something better. This has creamed corn, honey and sour cream added.

I made chili yesterday and for me, cornbread is a necessity if I am eating chili. DH’s accompaniment is Freetos corn chips, and we have them.

I’m happy to say that I successfully painted a room for the first time in my life. Yes you read that right…until yesterday, I never painted before. I told DH that I wanted to do it, because I wanted to learn, just to learn. He did teach me and he helped me, but he let me do the majority of it. I think it was hard for him, because it would have gotten done faster if he would have just done it, but he was patient and was a good supervisor - LOL!

The room I painted was the main bathroom of the house (painted it lavender), which is Katie’s bathroom. So today I need to finish things up in there and go out and try to find some purple towels (lavender walls with darker purple accents), which is proving to be hard to find - I’ve already looked a couple other places. Amazon has them, but I’d rather find them close to home to see if it’s the right color.

I hope all is well with everyone

@slo Good for you!

I have not ever done that!

Today I am catching up on things I wanted to cook. I will make potato pancakes for today, and put up some spaghetti sauce with meat for other days this week.

I have painted many rooms. Not something I enjoy but I did most of the rooms in the house we built in WA and DS's house in AZ.

I need to use some apples, so hoping to bake some apple bread today.
I did just finish M&M cookies for the grand kids

I’ll be making an apple pie on Tuesday. College friends who we haven’t seen in 20 years are visiting the area, stopping by. From what I understand they’re making the rounds, visiting others as well!

I’m feeling a little gloomy today - the first Halloween in 24 years without a kid here. My neighbors have an annual get together where we all bring food for dinner - lots of fun. It’s going to feel very odd and sad to be there without Katie. My other 2 neighbors still have kids at home, so we are the only kidless couple. Feels very strange - a new normal that is sometimes hard to get used to.

I agree,.

It‘s getting dark now and no Trick or Treaters have arrived. I guess the chips are all for us.

I'm...

still sitting out, but the trick-or-treat traffic has dwindled, and I'll be heading in by 8:30. We did have quite a few groups, though - and several of the adults dressed up with their kids.

Hot items this tear were the chocolates, the non-edible treats, and the little bags of dog treats! (We had a doggie-skeleton, a doggie-bat, and a doggie-angel.)

Slow here this year. but we still have time. It takes awhile for the kids to get to our street.

I took down the inside decorations and put up the fall ones. At least linens and candles. Need to get the other things out of storage still

I’m grateful for all your hugs :goodvibes
Holidays are hard for me, especially with my oldest and grandchildren not with us.
That little boy was such a joy for us, just overwhelming joy. The baby girl I have never seen, but I’m sure she’s as precious as her brother.

Enough downer talk….

I’m just loving our autumn here - the prettiest in years - just beautiful!

I hope you all had a nice Halloween.
We went to our neighbors house and it was fun spending time with the other girls on our street - they are like nieces to me - I’ve known them their whole lives. We got Katie on FaceTime so we could take the girls annual Halloween photo with one girl holding her phone up with Katie on it - very cute! Only a couple girls still trick or treat and they were very kind to give me a couple Reese’s peanut butter cups. It was a very enjoyable night :goodvibes

I’m doing that this weekend and then next weekend the trees come down from the attic. That’s a big job - especially putting on the lights - takes me a long time with 2 big trees, but they look great when I’m done :thumbsup2

Our tree has lights already on it.
I will take the first trip to storage Friday.....take back Halloween, get the rest of the fall ones and fill the rest of the car with Christmas.
It will take one or two more trips for Christmas
Tree will go up weekend after Thanksgiving. Hopefully I will have all the other inside decorations done.
DH puts it up and takes all the ornaments out of their little boxes and I hang them. Takes a long time. I am picky about where they go.
