We do have a fireplace, but we have fake logs in it with a heating element. I normally just turn it on for the fake looking fire and the crackling, but never use the heat - that changed tonight. It doesn’t kick out much heat, but it’s better than nothing.

We lost power for 5 days once when we lived in WA......and were snowed in. Not as cold as where you are, but it was really cold before the power came back And then we got a generator
Thank you - I’m gonna get under a thick blanket when I watch TV tonight and then put an extra comforter on the bed.
I bought a Compfy for my DD for Christmas and she LOVES that thing (maybe that will be tomorrow’s poll topic

) and she said she’s sleeping in that tonight along with extra blankets.
My poor 13yr old dog is shivering, even with 2 sweaters on. I’m more worried about her than I am about any of us. With her being older she’s not much of a cuddler anymore - she likes her space. Who knows, she may reconsider that tonight and jump up with me on the couch tonight.
We have a whole house generator too - one of our best purchases.
That’s it, we do not have a generator. I can’t convince Tom that we should have one before we need it!
I highly recommend getting one. My parents and my in-laws were the first to get it, and it’s kicked on many times. Twice it was on for multiple days. Shortly after that we got one, and we’ve never lost power for days, but it’s comforting to know that if we did we’d have it. Ours is a Generac
