Nope, nothing going on here. No thunder, no rain, no wind.......it's just eerily quiet.
Yesterday, I picked up my mother who lives in El Jobean less than a quarter mile from the Myakka river. Trust me on this.......it ain't easy convincing an 85 year old to leave their house. The funny thing is, Mom woke up this morning, saw there was no storm and announced she was ready to go home!
We're all set and ready. We're at one of the high points in Charlotte county so storm surges aren't a concern for us. Neither is wind because we had our old roof replaced with a metal roof last year. The roofer told us our roof would withstand 200 mile an hour winds.
A few stories from the "front." My sister does group therapy and she running around last night trying to get the homeless (yes, we do have them) to prepare for the storm. She managed to get the local Publix to bring some supplies to some of the homeless here (a big thank you to Publix), but she can't convince any of the folks to go to a shelter. One guy said he was going to ride out the storm in a dumpster.
Anyway, nothing yet to report from here, but I do notice an awful lot of birds are in our area. I don't what significance that is, but that's all that's going on.
