Now, the reason for the title of this thread...
Back in August, my DMIL and DSIL had purchased dark blue polo-type shirts on sale ($5) and had "I'm with Bob" printed in white over the front pocket. On the back, they put the relationship to Bob (also in white): Bob, Bob's Wife, Bob's Mother, Bob's Sister, Bob's Daughter, Bob's Son, Bob's Son's Wife, and Bob's Other Son. The first four shirts made their debut at an earlier vacation late last year. Now, DH is a mild mannered, stay-in-the-background kind of guy. When presented with the shirt, and told his mother wanted him to wear it...what could he do? There were a few comments, "Hi, Bob!" but not too many..just enough to embarrass him. On to our WDW vacation. If DH had known that "the shirts" were going into the suitcase, he would have sabotaged my efforts! So, of course, they were put in at the last minute, unbeknownst to DH. On the day of the wearing of "the shirt," it was taken out of its hiding place and presented with, "Here, your mom wants you to wear this today!" Ever seen a 54 year old whine and pout? But, being the good son, he donned the shirt. When he walked out of the room and saw the rest of the family in their shirts, he just shook his head..
Breakfast for the start of our MK day was Chef Mickey's. The CM greeted us and steered us to the photographer who took our group picture while waiting for our table. The pictures were then presented during the meal..2 5x7's, a magnet, a keychain, and 2 wallets (I think). The characters came out and made over the shirts..that was neat. The food was great..scrambled eggs, Mickey waffles, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit, cereal, and cinnamon rolls. Didn't see any Sticky Mickeys. Debated about going over to Concourse to order one
, but decided to forgo it. The surprise here was the birds flying in to land on the floor of the restaurant and scarf up the crumbs! They knew a great place for free food!
Down the escalator and over to the Monorail and into MK!! While having our bags searched, people were reading the shirts, calling out, "Where's Bob? Oh, hi, Bob!" and so it began... Once into the park we headed down Main Street where we were stopped by the Barbershop Quartet! They read the shirts and then seranaded us with a song from every state we represented..a magical moment! Continuing on..people were noticing the shirts, calling out to Bob..one girl came up and took our pictures..backs, of course! The WDW photographer stopped us and we got pictures in front of the castle and Bob with Tinkerbell..cute! The picture with our backs did not turn out..sorry.
The photographer got us all in, in the front view, but cut two people out of the back view...oh, well..we tried! By Fantasyland, Bob got with the program and was coming up with one liner replies!
Into Tomorrowland and FP's for SM, on to a short wait in BLSRS and then we were shooting the bad guys! This is one of my favorite rides! We had barely started when DH looked over and was shocked to see that I had 300,000 points!..then he figured out where I was shooting and quickly passed me..my brief moment of glory! Finished that and over to CoP, then the FP at SM. When the CM's saw the shirts, they said, "Hey, Bob's here! The party can start! Whooo Whee!!" Stopped to get a
! Stitch did not attract us..we enjoyed AE too much..
Up to Fantasyland and the Teacups and MPM. What a GREAT addition to the 3D movies!!
It was so cute to watch the children grabbing for the jewels and Donald! Grabbed a FP to PP and then had a 15 minute wait for HM. From there it was to SM...a 40 minute wait. We did discover that you COULD get two FP's if the time for the second FP was AFTER the time of the first FP. That worked for us, so we got FP's for BTMR. Back down to PP where the FP line was OUTSIDE the ride! I asked several people if they knew that they were in the FP line, to which they said, "No." So I explained FP's, showed them how to get them and pointed them over to the Standby line.. an hour wait! Still had to wait 20 minutes in the FP line! My DH is a retired aviator and this is one of his MUST DO's..go figure...
Did I mention how CROWDED
MK was on a Monday? Off PP and back down to BTMR where the FP worked beautifully!! Zipped right through the cattle call lines and onto the ride!!
Into Adventureland and PoC..a 20 minute wait. Dashed over to JC for a FP and into Tiki Birds. I wished WDW would post a poll for us to register our displeasure with this show. There's no point to it anymore and it's so much shorter! We found an empty table and chairs outside JC and gathered to decided whether we wanted to wait for the FP time, or go ahead and get into the Standby line. While discussing this, we noticed a small child..4-5 years old with that, "Where's Mom?" look. We looked around and didn't see a parent with the, "Where's my child?" look, so my DDIL went up to him to ask if he was lost. Sure enough. She took him by the hand to go and stand in the mainstream of traffic while my DS went in search of a CM. 15 minutes later, a frantic mother comes dashing up and we were able to reunite her with her child just as my DS arrives with a CM. I can just imagine how scary that was for both of them!! We decide to give the FP's away (to someone asking about our shirts!) and get into line..we have THINGS TO DO!! Literally jumped off of JC, dashed down Mainstreet, onto the Monorail, over to CR, down to the pier and arrived in time for our....
Magical Gatherings Fireworks Cruise! The cruise was wonderful. We met at 7:45 pm..no need to meet more than 15 minutes before that. The desserts were fabulous. You could pig out on chocolate!! Plus they had soft drinks, water, coffee, hot tea, and hot cocoa, as it was cool (actually,
). Just as Mrs. Jack said, Captain Hook and Mr. Smee were there to mingle and for photo ops. We got a special Magical Gatherings Fireworks pin and then boarded the boats around 8:30. There were two boats and the groups had previously been divided. We were in Mr. Smee's group with a pirate
named "Patch" aka Joseph. The characters stayed behind and we headed off.
We watched the Electric Water Pageant up close. Patch recognized the various groups on board for birthdays or anniversaries. I thought we were doing great celebrating our 31st anni, but there was another group celebrating their 40th!! Patch asked trivia questions and awarded prizes to correct answers. We sang the "Yo Ho" song from PoC "The Ride," and then it was time for Wishes. You could not ask for a better seat!! This is definitely the way to watch it!! I don't know if there was stuff going on at the Castle during the show, but this view was perfect. We could see Tinkerbell flying! On the way back, Patch read the Peter Pan story. When we docked, there Peter Pan was for pictures and autographs. We were all adults and enjoyed it, the children on board must have had an awesome time!
Needless to say, we were exhausted. We caught the boat back to WL. A washcloth puppy and duck awaited us in our rooms! Oh, yes.. we logged 15 miles this day! I'm sure it was all of that backtracking from PP and SM and PP and BTMR!!
