...and I hate it. :guilty::( Where the monitors are...it's starting to itch. One just pure hurts from the tape she put on it, and my son thinks it's cool to play with the ones on my chest he can see. :sad2: I've been SO short with him today because I have it on and it's very hard to maneuver him with it on. I've got "female" stuff going on too, so I'm just darn irritable. Someone say something to make me laugh. :rolleyes1 It's nearly 7pm and hubby still isn't home from work to help me with Moshe. He's had a ROUGH day, so I can't be upset with him. It is our son's bedtime, but I usually try to keep him up til daddy comes home. He REALLY enjoys his daddy and it makes hubby's day end on a bright note to come home to his son still awake.
I'm told sleeping in this darn thing isn't easy...gee looking forward to that. :headache: Okay enough whining....I'm sorry. Helps to get it off my chest.

Hope those of you who visit my thread are doing well.

I can offer nothing funny, but I can offer hugs! I have ahd to do a 24 hour halter monitro twice as an outpatient and twice as an inpatient. Once I was VERY pregnant...talk about miserable. Add in that I am allergic to the sticky stuff....I has round rashes all around my chest! Looks like I had a new form of large polkadot chicken pox!

Hope DH gets home soon!

Sorry to hear you need to wear one. How long do you have to keep it on? I wore on once for 30 days. UGH. If you need to wear it for any period of time make sure that whenever you put on new sticky pads put them in a different place in the general area. I actually have a round scar on my side from one of the pads. They irritated my skin something fierce. My skin didn't like the adhesive or something. Not a common occurrence I was told.

Oh, and sleeping really wasn't that hard. I wore pajamas and clipped the monitor onto the waist band with the wires going under the top. I had it on the side that I don't usually sleep on.

Wishing you well.

I hate those heart monitors. I would get dehydrated from chemotherapy, so my heartrate would skyrocket. And by skyrocket, I mean resting was around 150, light activity like using the restroom brought me to 200. So then I would have the regular sticky montiors, and then the 24 hour halter monitor on at the same time. It was so freaking annoying, especially trying to sleep! I found the easiest way was to keep the wires under my shirt/gown. Plus, the stickies are a pain in the rear to peel off because I get reactions to them too.

I don't have any funnies in my today, but I have tons of hugs if you'd like. I hope everything turns out okay!

I've done the halter monitor a few times. It's not fun. But to have do that and deal with Aunt flo...:grouphug:

I also did the 24 hour Holter monitor. The used the leads on me that were for sensitive skin. Well, that didn't work. I ended up with red circular marks on my skin that took about 3 weeks to fade. And they itched. I'm allergic to most adhesives and these were no exception. For some reason, I was able to sleep okay with them on. Fortunately, I didn't have to carry around a baby!

I only have to wear it for 24 hours...thank gawd. Thanks for the well wishes.

I hate those monitors too...I was allergic to the glue!! Hope you are doing better soon!

I hope you feel better soon. I wear one at least once a year because of my heart problem, more often if I'm having problems. They itch me too, it's just the sticky on the pads that bug me since I'm sensitive to just about everything on my skin. I just hate it because when I'm working my patients can see it and ask about it (some think they have a sick nurse taking care of them....so not cool) and I double hate it when it goes off and starts beeping at me when I have an abnormal rhythm. So embarassing. Hang in there.

Denise! Whats going on? Why do you have to wear a heart monitor? Sending good thoughts your way, and hope you, DH, and Mo are hangin in there!

I've had some chest pain....nothing serious, but more annoying and from what I've explained to the doctor, she wants to make sure my heart isn't skipping any beats or things like that. My pulse was high she told me on my visit and that might explain the tightness I often feel in my chest. It's possible also, that I may have thyroid problems. Nothing too serious going on. Thanks for asking.

I hope the 24 hours is up soon.

Ughh I hate Holter monitors. I got terrible allergic reaction to the sticky things.:guilty: They really are a pain. Plus mine came off all the time and it was so frustrating pressing on them all the time to make sure they stayed on. You'll be free before you know it!:goodvibes

I just finished up a 2 week heart monitor. I've had teh 24 hour monitor done 4 times nad an event monitor twice. I hate it.

I had to wear one of those recently too. Hope you get a clean bill of health...happy to say that I did.

Anyway, if you want to mess with them (those that have to read your heartbeat) here's something to do that's lots of fun! My dd had just taken a class in college called animal physiology. Somewhere along the line we were talking about heart monitors, heart beats, heart rates, etc. She said that there's a certain reflex you get when you dunk your face in cold water and hold your breath as long as possible. Messes with your heart rate. So right in the final minutes of my 24 hour Holter test I ran the experiment. Wanted to see if the doctor would say anything, but sadly, no comment. But maybe you can get more of a reaction!!!!

I wore an event monitor for 30 days a few years ago... it was annoying allright! I liked telling people who noticed the wires that I was working with the FBI and wired to record my converstaions. Made for some interesting looks.
