Not quite sure what I did, but I'm rethinking everything "new" that I ate. I'm quite disappointed as I was losing about 2 pounds a week. DH and I did take a walk this evening and I will be doing Tae-Bo tomorrow afternoon. DH reminded me that muscle weighs more that fat so how do I know that I'm not still "losing". I forget that sometimes, but I just really want to make it below 200 pounds before the end of the year!
I could use some encouragement and advice please.

Thanks,

Denise

It's frustrating isn't it? Just when you think everything is going great, then WHAM! The scale jumps up on you. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just keep doing the things that have brought you success so far. You might also want to start taking your measurements. The tape does not lie, even when the scale might!! Keep your chin up and stop staring at the scale!!! Good luck and best wishes!

Could the weight gain be water retention? I have really bad problems with that I can gain as much as 7-10 lbs. If you have been sticking to your eating plan and doing the things that you know you need to do, such as exercising and drinking plenty of water, I wouldn't worry too much. The 3lbs plus more will probably come off next week.

Denise,

That's so frustrating. I hate when that happens. Sometimes its just the nasty ole bloat fairy, but it's always a good thing to review what you've been eating. You mentioned in another post about a slice of toast and 1/2 bread on a chik fil a???? (sorry, we don't have them here, not sure how to spell it, but I have tried them once in KY) These really aren't Atkin's friendly. Not just the bread - but the breading on the meat! Those carbs are very very sneaky and do nasty things to us Atkins people! I don't know where you are on your Atkin's journey, but those flour based food have got to go!

Just eating out always does it to me - the next day I'm always up! I think there's alot more salt in the food at restaurants. Then it takes a few days for my weight to stabilize.

Now, you do know that that 3 lbs is just water weight, don't you? You really can't gain 3 lbs just because you had the equivalent of 2 slices of bread in a week!

Oh, and as Kath will tell you, if you aren't already, start measuring!!!!

Hang in there, you can do this!

Karyn

{{ Hugs }} to you! I can hear the disappointment and sadness in your post. I've been there too and it's a hard place to be.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but.....

When you're eating low-carb, like Atkins, it's very common for the scale to stop moving or even show a small gain - but the tape measure doesn't lie. When the scale stops, you will often be losing inches, and then, just when you've lost hope, the whoosh fairy visits and the scale takes a jump downward.

Besides, I know we all want the scale to move, but is it really all about the weight? Are you feeling more healthy? Is your body doing well on the foods you're eating? Are your clothes fitting better. That silly scale and its numbers are always messing with our minds, even when we know we're eating healthier and being so good to ourselves.

Chin up! You're doing fine!! Your success is based on more than just a number! That's just a lovely benefit of treating your body to healthy foods!

Sounds like we need a BLOAT FAIRY ALERT!!!!

If you consumed refined carbohydrates at all (bread?) then you are retaining fluid. You probably also knocked yourself out of ketosis.

I know that Chickafila has a chicken sandwich that doesn't include battered chicken but I don't know if they use sugar in the seasonings for the unfried chicken breast. That would be a good thing to find out.

Just hop right back onto induction and get yourself back into ketosis. Watch out for those refined carbohydrates, they can sneak into your food when you aren't looking. Really try to not eat any bread at all, you will lose more inches and pounds if you totally eliminate white flour. You will feel better, too.

Karyn is correct, if you haven't measured yourself, do it now. Seeing inches drop away can make the difference between success and giving up. So, go on...go measure yourself, now....shoo, you can do it :teeth:

{{{HUGS}}}, you're doing just fine, you just need to do a little fine tuning.

I agree with what everyone is saying. I know it isn't easy while you are going through it. Its frustrating and depressing, but you are getting healthier and you are loosing. Just keep your goals in mind, stick up your chin and smile.

Be tough and you will lose it again. There are times when our bodies will fluctuate no matter how well we stick to our plans. Keep your head up and it will go away.

:D :D :D :D :D

Don't get discouraged! I have just started my second week on induction and have not lost a pound in 4 days. Last night I said if I hadn't lost a pound when I weigh myself in the morning, I would quit this diet. This morning I was up a 1/2 pound. So, I broke my diet and ate M&M's for breakfast and pudding for lunch! Now I am so miserable because I was just looking for an excuse to cheat. I should have come on here like you did for some support and I would still be on track. Stick to it. Don't give up. Your doing great!

Like everone else has mentioned, there can be a few reasons for the weight gain. But definitely, get out the tape measure. I have hit a plateau on the scale several times. But I have noticed inch loss when there is no pound loss (or slight gain). You are doing so well, don't get discouraged.

You guys are great!! Thanks!! I will see if it was the chick-fil-a and perhaps maybe my "monthly friend". It just finished today and I forget how nasty the scale can be when THE FRIEND shows up. I won't be weighing myself until next Tuesday because I can't stand anymore disappointment. I usually only weigh myself on Tuesdays but I've been over to mom's house a few times this week and I found my way to the scale Sunday and Monday. Well, that's enough!! I'll keep you all posted and thanks for all the support!

Denise

WHATEVER you do DO NOT get discouraged! You are doing something GREAT for you body! That alone is the important thing! Don't let that scale get you feelin blue! I think it is evil myself! LOL
