I am 34 years old and cannot change a tire. I know this because I woke up to a flat this morning and realized I was clueless. First time I've had a flat since I was married. First time this issue has come up.

Don has assured me I will be taught this evening. :teeth:

shut up, Nikole..... :p :p :p

:teeth:

I don't know how to change one either. It's easier to call a tow truck and head to Sears. LOL!

Very easy solution to this:

AAA--you call, they come, they change the tire. :teeth:

That being said, my dad would NOT teach me to drive until I could change a flat, pump gas, and check the oil. Oh how I loved that at 16.

Good luck!!

A car I once had had a slow leak, and there were times I would come outside to find a flat tire, so I got really good at changing it, putting on the spare, and filling the tire w/air. It got where I could change a tire in less than 10 mins. :)

Have fun w/your lessons. :teeth:

Oh I know what I'm supposed to do to fix a flat tire but knowing and being able to do it are two different things. My dh says I am the most "mechanically uninclined" person he has ever met. I have trouble unscrewing something with with a screwdriver. I just call David when I have a flat, he knows I would have a terrible time trying to fix it myself.

I was going to say the same thing as Debster -- I know how to change a tire: call AAA :D

I don't know how either and I really have no interest in learning. Although I'm sure I could figure it out in an emergency. But until than I'll leave those things to AAA and DH. ;)

I can't change a tire, check my oil, or fix a toilet when it's running. And I don't care :p

I can change it but getting lug nuts off is another story. I'm hard on tires according to my Dad.

I know how to use that Fix-A-Flat stuff, it that can't handle it, then I call AAA.

My dad made sure I could pump gas & check the oil, but he did not want his baby on the side of the freeway trying to change a tire. It's just too dangerous.

Some things guys are created to do and to me that is one of them. I have a cell phone, call AAA and wait (Ok so sometimes it can be an hr but would take me ten to change one) and viola it is done. Out I go buy a new tire and all is good till it happens again. Maybe you should teach him how to have a baby, that is harder then changing a tire. LOL :D

Me either, SonjaH. If it wasn't for AAA, I'd totally be screwed. :p I don't even want to mention how many times I have locked my keys in my car and had to call them to get a locksmith! :o

I change it the same way many others do: call AAA.

Don't feel bad. I can't change a tire and neither can my DH!!
That's what AAA is for. ;)

I was taught in school, but I just call AAA now. So does DH. LOL

I'm a guy (well, last time I checked....let me reach into my jeans and pull out my....driver's license...yup..says so right there) and changing a tire is one of the very few things I can do with a car.

But not much more...

When I was in high school, I was dating a girl from another school and went to their prom. One of her best friends (guy) was there with a girl friend of his so that neither had to attend alone.

She drove and her car had a flat. He did not know how to change it, so I took off the tux jacket...changed the tire in the parking garage of the fancy hotel where the prom was being held, lowered the car with the jack only to discover...

Her spare was flat too

It wasn't noticable until I lowered the car...

You know, back in 1977 when I got my driver's license, my dad taught me how to do this and then made me change a tire on our 1972 Chevy Impala twice in the driveway while he watched before he would let me take my driver's test. I remember thinking at the time that this was ridiculous and over-protective, but, in retrospect, it was really pretty sweet and showed how much he cared about me.

That said, with the air tools mechanics use when they put lug nuts on wheels these days, there is absolutely no way I could ever loosen a single lug nut to change a tire. I know how, but also know that I wouldn't be able to do it.

AAA is the only way to go.

I do know how to dial road side assistance to have them come and change the tire for me. That add on at the dealer sure has paid for itself -- over and over again.

I confess, I don't know how to add air or check oil either.

I change mine by calling Dad! I asked him to show me how in case I ever needed to and he told me no way and to call him and he'd come to me!

Yep I'm Daddys little girl alright!
