is worthwhile. DH has a conference in January. So 4 of the 5 nights would be paid for, and his food -- although he would be in meetings most of the time. No big deal, he is tired of Disney anyway. His flight would be free, we would need 4 other flights. It's also at the very end of the marking period for the kids, oldest DS in middle school would have a load of make-up to do in 1 1/2 days when we get back. Guess it depends on how nice his teachers are. I figure the whole trip will cost us about $2500, that is being on the generous side.

I'm going for 6 nights/ with 4 FULL days in DEC (flying in on a Weds. night after parks close/flying home early Monday morning; have UPHs for the 4 days in between!) and I think it will be well worth it.

In January it should be great. The crowds are low and you can get a lot more done in 4 days, than you'd be able to in 4 days in, say, June. :)

Go for it!!!

We went once for 3 full days and decided it just wasn't long enough. Just as we were getting the groove of things it was time to go home. Of course, my kids are younger than yours I think Kallison, so it might be easier for you to do a whirlwind trip like that, plus its one day longer. And I agree with Esmerelda, the month of January is such a nice time to visit in terms of low crowds and mild weather, you can get so much more accomplished in January than in July.

I just did that (sort of) in May...
(I went without my family & stayed with a friend at the Grand Floridian)

My only advice~make the most of your days~
without the crowds, you should be able to do quite a bit.
The park's hours are shorter so your almost forced to relax a little at night.

Enjoy your trip!

Will this trip blow most of your vacation budget for the year?

I'd say if not, then go for it. As long as you can swing another vacation next summer as well, it'll be worthwhile.

I'm doing a 4 day this December with my DS14. We know we won't get to see and do as much as other times we have visited WDW, but I'm sure we'll have a great time. I agree with the above poster- if it's not going to affect your vacation budget for the year, then go and have fun:D

No it won't blow our vacation budget, it would just be an extra unplanned trip. We went in August 03 and DH said he didn't want to go back for a long time. We've taken 5 trips, one w/o kids since 98. DH always says he has had enough Disney but when someone else is talking about going he'll be - oh maybe we should think about planning a trip. I feel too, like we've seen it and want to go other places like Grand Canyon, Yosemite, etc. But I still LOVE Disney, probably more than anyone else in the family. This would probably be a little fix and that would be it for two or three more years. If we don't go, I can't see us planning a trip in 05 or even 06. I think what might be great is that DH will be in meetings so me and the kids can run like maniacs and just see him at night, so he won't be going "Seen that, done that, can't believe I"m on Splash Mountain ....again" Otherwise we'll probably do one big Disney trip before the kids graduate h.s. What threw a wrench in my plan was I thought the meeting ws MLK weekend, that would have been perfect 5 whole days, the kids would have missed school but had a few weeks to make up. Now it is last week in January right at the end of their marking period. It could really mess up DS's schoolwork if he doesn't have understanding teachers that will let him make up the work as soon as he gets back or before we leave. That is my big worry. Sorry for rambling...................

We always go for less than a week, DH wouldn't be able to stand a whole week at WDW! This year we are going to fly into Orlando on Thursday Oct 21, and fly home Monday evening. We find that we can do all 4 parks in 2 days at this slow time of year. BUT, we don't like EVERYTHING, so we only do the things we want. We will probably do 2 waterpark days, MNVSHP, and a pirate cruise for the boys on Monday, which is our resting day. I find that by going for less time at a slow period, you can get as much done as a week at a peak period, mainly because you are not spending half of your time in lines....I agree with tiggerwannabe, save your resting time for night...;) Have a great trip!

due to my dh's work schedule we ususally take a Monday - Friday trip so I would say go for it!! You would be surprised how much you can do and see that time of year!!

4 January days is a lot of WDW:Pinkbounc Definitely do it. You and the kids will have fun, and your DH doesn't have to participate.:earsboy:

I just did 4 days, 3 nights in June. It was great, would do it again in a heartbeat. ::MickeyMo :hyper: ::MinnieMo

We would have 5 nights and 4 whole park days. I'm giving it a lot of thought, it would be nice to look forward to when I'm sitting in the back of 7th grade Science for the third year in a row (I'm an aide), sometimes it gets a tad boring. Last year I planned out all my ps's for when DH and I went to Food and Wine Festival in the back of that classroom.

My belief is that the longer, the better, but if you have an opportunity for even a few days, do it. You may leave wishing you had more time, but that's better than not going and whishing you had.
