I've had very few replies to this thread. I'm wondering what's wrong with this trip report. Any suggestions? :confused3

Let me start by saying who the players were. My DD (8), DS (3), DH, and myself. I actually purchased one Disney Trip travel planning guide (PP) and used it along with information found on this forum (Disboards.com) and a few other on-line sources. Based on what I learned from the message boards, travel guide, good friends, and other sources, I put together an itinerary which allowed us to visit Magic Kingdom the most, while simultaneously visiting the other parks at least twice. DH felt it was a very ambitious itinerary; however, it became rather manageable due to a great deal of advanced planning. It was not our intention to try to 'fit it all in' on this trip (and impossibility at WDW); but rather to get a ‘taste of the World’ if you wish (pun intended). I hope next time we can have a longer visit to Walt Disney World. That way we could do the things we missed.

Day 1, Monday 6/29/09: Our good friend, K.M., drove us to the airport super early that morning. Our nonstop flight arrived in Orlando right on time. It was a hot sunny summer day in Florida. We took the Magical Express shuttle from Orlando Airport to the Wilderness Lodge Resort in Magic Kingdom. It was a quick 35min. ride. We checked in at the front desk and got our Keys to the World; however, our room wasn’t quite ready, so we decided to explore the Wilderness Lodge resort. This is a wonderful resort that has a lot to offer families, especially those with young kids. It is absolutely beautiful! :lovestruc The lobby area alone is worth a thousand words. No picture can truly do it justice. We went outside to the pool area. DS and I sat by the pool while DD and DH went for a dip in the pool. I had packed our swimwear in the carryon luggage (just in case). Shortly after 11am we were notified the room was ready. Ours was a Woods View room, Room#6022. It was located on the north side of the resort overlooking the pond. This room was on the 6th floor and had an enclosed balcony which was perfect for us. Our luggage arrived in our room shortly after DS fell asleep (he had been up since 4am!). DD went back down to the pool with DH. Afterwards, we all took showers, got changed and took a short, pleasant boat ride to Magic Kingdom. Shortly after entering the park we watched the “Celebrate A Dream Come True Parade.” We stopped at a gift shop to get an official WDW autograph book. We knew it was going to get lots of use during this trip. We had 4pm dinner reservations at Cinderella’s Royal Table in Magic Kingdom. The experience was everything we had expected and more. Dining at Cinderella’s Royal Table was the ideal way to start our children’s First Visit celebration. We were treated like royalty. After meeting and greeting Cinderella we were escorted upstairs to the royal dining hall. Our table was next to a large beautiful stained glass window with views of the park. We could see Fantasyland and Dumbo from where we sat. The food at Cinderella’s Royal Table was excellent, as was the lovely floor show with Cinderella’s Mice and the Fairy Godmother. DD got a wand and DS got a sword. DD got a special dessert treat, Cinderella’s Royal Chocolate Slipper (which I had ordered in advance). The Chef wrote “Princess [Her Name]” and “First Visit” on her plate with chocolate. It was a fantastic dining experience. :cloud9: After dinner, we made it a point to ride the Walt Disney World Railroad around the park once. On the second round, we got off at Fantasyland; then went on the Mad Tea Party, Dumbo, and Buzz Lightyear rides. The children thoroughly enjoyed these rides. We also visited Minnie’s Country House and Ariel’s Grotto. Between rides we walked around Magic Kingdom taking it all in. At 9pm we enjoyed Spectromagic and at 10pm we watched Wishes fireworks in front of Cinderella’s Castle. We stood directly underneath Tinker Bell’s flight. Both experiences left us in awe. On the boat ride back to the Wilderness Lodge we saw the Electric Water Pageant. Upon entering our room we discovered a Donald Duck white chocolate dessert, a beach bucket and pale with a Mickey Mouse chocolate covered Rice Krispies bar on a stick, two Mickey Mouse shaped straws, and a gorgeous and very large Walt Disney World canvas gift bag filled with all sorts of goodies, including fresh fruits and two Mickey and Minnie plush toys. Even though we were exhausted we couldn’t help but admire the lovely gifts and partake of a few of the treats. We were very tired but extremely happy to be together in Magic Kingdom at the Wilderness Lodge. :dumbo:

I'll be posting pictures of Day 1 and report on Day 2 soon.

Did you order those gifts to be delivered to your room?

^^^We got the gifts from our 'Fairy Godmother.' ;) No but seriously it was a very nice gesture on the part of someone who knew of our plans to be at the WL at the time.:tinker:We couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised! :cloud9:

What a great magical way to start your vacation. :thumbsup2 Please post some more.

Btw, loved the Mickey matching outfits! ;)

Day Two, Tuesday 6/30/09: We got up early and took advantage of Extra Magic Hours at Magic Kingdom that morning. We were at the park before 8am. Rope drop in Magic Kingdom was quite a nice event. We entered Magic Kingdom and made our way to Frontierland where we all rode Big Thunder Mountain. DS loved the ride and so did DD. Afterwards we entered Fantasyland where we saw Mickey’s PhilharMagic 3D show:3dglasses and rode Peter Pan’s Flight. pirate: Later DS and I rode Stitch’s Great Escape while DS and DH spent some time at the gift shop nearby and people watching. Then we all went to see Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor. It was a riot! :rotfl: Before we left, we watched Cinderella’s Castle forecourt stage show, Dream Along with Mickey. It featured all the Princesses dancing with their Princes, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and others. We had 10:30am brunch reservations at Chef Mickey’s, so we rode the monorail to the Contemporary Resort. Riding the monorail was a great first experience for us. :earsboy: Chef Mickey’s had an amazingly good buffet. It was a huge hit with everyone in the family. The character interaction was outstanding. We met Donald, Mickey, Pluto, Goofy, and Minnie several times over. All the food there was quite yummy. The breakfast pizza in particular was absolutely delicious. Afterwards we rode the monorail back to Magic Kingdom then took the boat ride to the resort for a mid-day break, a nap for DS and a pool dip for DD and DH. After DS’s nap and DD’s swim, we got showered and dressed and headed to Epcot in the afternoon. It was raining lightly when we got there but it worked to our advantage as we didn’t find it to be at all crowded and it was much cooler than the previous day. We headed straight for Soarin’. We were surprised to find DS made the height requirement for that ride. We rode Soarin’ for the first time ever and absolutely loved it! Next we went to our 4:10pm dinner reservations at the Coral Reef restaurant in Epcot Future World. DH loved his Mahi-Mahi, DD had the pizza, DS had the grilled chicken breast, and I had the daily special, the Halibut, which was superb. After dinner we went to the pavilions, the Seas with Nemo and Friends. DS loved the ride too! He kept ‘finding Nemo’ along the way. After that DD and I went on Mission Space on the orange line (the intense ride experience). She was the Navigator, and I was the Pilot. Two other riders were assigned the roles of Engineer and Commander. DH and DS stayed behind because DS was too small for Mission Space. However, he was having so much fun with the water squirters at the playgrounds nearby that he was kept thoroughly entertained. After DD rode Mission Space with me, we used the Rider Swap Fastpass ticket and she went right back on it with DH. That time she was the Engineer while DH was the Commander. They went on the intense orange line for that round too. I took DS to the gift shop where he got a Mickey shaped glow in the dark spinning toy perfect for that evening's fireworks show. Once DD and DH were finished at Mission Space, we went to ride Test Track where we repeated the same Rider Swap experience. First DD and I went on the ride; then DD and DH rode Test Track. DS and I entertained ourselves at the misting station nearby where they had a full size replica of a Test Track car with a dummy rider in it. By the time DD and DH finished riding Test Track, DS was completely soaked. :lmao: After a quick stop to change DS’s clothing, we made our way to the bridge between the France and United Kingdom pavilions in Epcot World Showcase. We watched the magnificent Illuminations Fireworks at 9pm that evening. Epcot had Extra Magic Hours until 12am. We went around World Showcase and visited a couple of the pavilions and got some ice cream at the gelato cart outside the Italy pavilion before we left to go back to the Wilderness Lodge resort. :cloud9:

^^ Hi heaven2dc. Thanks for subscribing to my thread and for the lovely comments about my little ones and the pictures I've posted. I appreciate the wonderful compliments. :flower3:

Day Three, Wednesday 7/01/09: We woke up early because we had 7:55am breakfast reservations at Ohana’s in the Polynesian Resort. :boat: We took a boat from the Wilderness Lodge to the Contemporary Resort and then the monorail to the Polynesian. It begun to rain when we arrived at Ohana’s, but we didn’t mind since we were quite cozy indoors. At Ohana’s they gave each of us leis and took our picture before being seated. The breakfast wasn’t a buffet, but it was definitely most delicious. They brought us a gigantic wok full of bacon, sausage, eggs, and breakfast potatoes. Our waiter brought the Mickey waffles and other food items to the table on a regular basis. DS absolutely loved the ‘bug juice’ they served there. The hot chocolate was yummy too. We had amazing character interaction during this buffet as well. The following characters came to our table: Stitch, Goofy, Pluto, Lilo, and Mickey. They were all wearing Hawaiian shirts and leis, except for Lilo who wore her traditional red Hawaiian dress and lei. The characters did a conga parade with the dining guests too. :dance3: After breakfast we went to Animal Kingdom. By the time we arrived there the rain had completely stopped. We did the Rider Swap at Expedition Everest in Asia. DD and I went first; then she went on with DH on the Fastpass Rider Swap ticket. DS was kept very happy with a Nestle Mickey ice cream bar and people watching. He loved looking at the 'wild life' too. There was a lot to explore at Animal Kingdom, but after Expedition Everest a light misty rain begun to fall on us, so we decided to take a mid-day break back at the Wilderness Lodge resort. They closed the pool that afternoon because there was lightening, so DD and DS both took a short, but much needed, nap that day. DH and I took turns exploring the lodge. Once the rain was over in the afternoon we went to Hollywood Studios. We all loved the feel of this theme park. We enjoyed watching High School Musical 3 in front of the Sorcerer’s Hat. After that we went for dinner at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater. I must say this was our longest wait for dinner. Even though we had an advanced dining reservation of 4:20pm, we weren’t seated until after 5pm. However, the food was well worth the wait since the milkshakes, the Reuben sandwich, and cheeseburgers were out of this world. The atmosphere in there was fantastic. I’ve heard some people complain about it being dark in that restaurant but they forget it is supposed to mimic a drive-in movie theater at nighttime. I was able to read the entire menu using our car’s dashboard light. The kids loved eating in the car while watching old science fiction movies. DD was a little scared of a B-movie ‘horror’ film which featured spiders. Yes, this is the same child who loves the super advanced thrill rides at Walt Disney World, but then again she claims to suffer from arachnophobia. Afterwards it was off to ride the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. A word to the wise, wait an hour after eating before riding the tower. I could barely keep my dinner down on that ride. :scared: Again, we had to do a Rider Swap for the Tower of Terror since DS couldn't ride it. DD went with me then again with her Dad. Afterwards we headed for the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster ride. DD, DH, and I loved loved loved this ride! :cool2: Since DS couldn’t ride the big thrill rides, we decided to bring it down a notch and take him to do something he could enjoy. So we went to see the Muppet Vision 3-D show. :3dglasses Later that evening we all rode Toy Story Midway Mania. He absolutely loved both, but most notably the latter. Hollywood Studios had Extra Magic Hours until 10pm. :smickey: We took advantage of those hours while visiting Hollywood Studios. Unfortunately they didn’t have Fantastmic that night. We went back to the Wilderness Lodge. After putting the kiddos to sleep, I went downstairs for a dip in the pool and a much needed soak in the hot tub. :lovestruc DH read his book until I went upstairs.

^^^TinkLovinMomma, we might have run into each other at some point. Did you wear the "Make a Wish" shirts during your trip? I did see at least one family there wearing them. Your little guy is sooooo cute! I'm sure he had a wonderful time at "Mickey's House." :wizard:

^^^ Hi OhMari, Thanks!!!!

Day Four, Thursday 7/02/09: That morning we decided to go back to Animal Kingdom. The first thing we did was the obligatory pictures in front of the Tree of Life. Once that was done we made our way to Africa for an early Kilimanjaro Safari Tour. We got to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, gazelles, rhinos, hippopotamus, crocodiles, warthogs, and many species of birds. The highlight of course was the male lion sleeping under a tree near the trail. After the safari tour was over, we jumped on the Wildlife Express train to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. Once there we entered the petting farm. The kids brushed the goats and sheep. It was very quiet there during the early morning hours. Once we explored this little unappreciated oasis for a bit, we went back to Africa on the Wildlife Express train. We had a 10:25am brunch reservation at Tusker House. We dined with Daisy, Donald, Goofy, and of course Mickey. They were all wearing their safari outfits. The buffet there was quite plentiful and delicious. We enjoyed a variety of African delicacies along with more conventional American fare. DS was gulping the ‘bug juice’ and eating Mickey waffles every chance he got. After brunch we went to the Dinosaur ride in DinoLand U.S.A. We had to do the Rider Swap for that roller coaster because DS wasn’t tall enough to ride it. Since it was quite sunny and hot that day, we took shelter inside the gift shop. We got a Dinosaur Webkinz there as a souvenir for the ride. Then we went to Dino-Rama! to experience Tricera Tops Spin and Primeval Whirl. Later we walked on the Tree of Life Trails. Our last stop in Animal Kingdom was in Discovery Island for It’s Tough to be a Bug! We all enjoyed this attraction quite a bit. As usual we went back to the resort for a mid-day break. DD and DH went swimming while DS and I got some much needed rest in our resort room. Later that afternoon we went to Epcot. DD and I got to ride Test Track once more while DS and DH played in the misting station nearby. Afterwards we had dinner at Princess Storybook in Restaurant Arkeshus Norway (4:55pm). DS was very shy around the princesses while DD was extremely happy to meet them all. They took our picture with Belle before escorting us to the dining hall. They had an appetizer buffet with a wide range of choices for the most discriminating palate. Then we ordered our food. DH had the Traditional Norwegian Kjottkake (a sort of meat loaf dish) which he absolutely loved. I had the salmon which was by far the most outstanding salmon I’ve enjoyed in a long time. DD had the pizza and DS had the turkey cheese sandwich. We all savored every last bite on the Royal Chef’s sampler dessert plate. First thing on our list after dinner was Soarin’ in The Land at Future World. We were able to ride Soarin’ together again. DS loved flying as much as the rest of us. It was an awesome experience for us to be able to go on a big ride like Soarin’ together. :yay: As a result, it was voted our trip’s favorite ride. :lovestruc Later we rode Spaceship Earth which was nice but somewhat anticlimactic after Soarin,’ though DD found it “educational.” She particularly loved her depiction as a cartoon character at the end of the ride. Epcot’s Illuminations fireworks took place at 9pm that evening. We walked over to the Mexico pavilion before making our way to the area between the Friendship Decks in front of World Showcase Lagoon .We decided to skip rides after the fireworks and visited The Art of Disney, Mouse Gear, and finally the Photo Center. We took night pictures at Epcot before going back to the resort that evening. Once we got to our room at the Wilderness Lodge, the kids took showers and went to bed. I went downstairs for another dip in the pool and a much needed soak in the hot tub. DD read his book until I went upstairs then we both turned in for the night.

Day Five, Friday 7/03/09: We had an 8:30am breakfast reservation at Cape Mae Café in the Beach Club Resort, so we got up early. Since we also arrived at the Beach Club early, we had the opportunity to explore the Beach Club and the Yacht Club resorts. The consensus was that we should try to stay at either place on a future trip. Perhaps when the kids are older and we don’t need to spend as much time in Magic Kingdom. Upon entering Cape Mae Café each of us received a teal colored beaded necklace. Our hostess was Minnie, but we also met Donald, and Goofy. They all wore their beach outfits. The food at this buffet was quite plentiful and tasty. Their asparagus, eggs Benedict and breakfast pizza were a huge hit with our crowd. After breakfast we jumped on a boat ride and went to Hollywood Studios. The first thing on the agenda was Star Tours. We did the Rider Swap again. DS was able to see the entire Star Tours outdoor stage show with Darth Vader and the Storm Troopers. Later we went to see Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Show. It was a huge hit with all of us. Afterwards we decided to walk thru Journey into Narnia. We loved being inside the air conditioned building as it was a very hot and sunny day. At this point it was painfully obvious DS was exhausted because we woke up super early that morning. He also needed a break from the heat. DH took him back to the Wilderness Lodge. Before leaving they took pictures in front of the Sorcerer’s Hat. DH was able to rest too while DS napped. Meanwhile DD and I headed over to Sunset Boulevard to ride on The Twilight Zone’s Tower of Terror again. Afterwards we made one more run for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. These were pronounced two of her favorite rides. Then it was a mad rush to get to the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show. It was well worth it! Before leaving Hollywood Studios DD and I took a few Magic shots near the entrance of the park. We headed back to the resort to find DS sounds asleep and DH reading. DD promptly got into her bathing suit and convinced DH to join her in the pool. After some rest we jumped on the boat ride to Magic Kingdom. Upon arrival we saw the Celebrate a Dream Come True parade on Main Street, and then some of Cinderella's Castle’s forecourt stage show, Dream Along with Mickey, which featured some familiar Disney Villains. We saw the show until we had to go to our 4:30pm dinner reservations at the Crystal Palace. It was a very nice buffet dinner. The biggest hit was the dessert station. The cheese flan was to die for! The children had ice cream sundaes and other sweet treats for dessert. We were visited by Winnie the Pooh, Tiger, Piglet, and Eyore. The characters at this buffet do a dance parade around the dining hall. After dinner we stopped to watch the Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! parade coming up Main Street. Then we went to The Enchanted Tiki Room and the Magic Carpets of Aladdin. Later we rode Pirates of the Caribbean. DD got her hair threaded at the ride’s exit. She chose a patriotic theme with red, white and blue thread, and beads that spelled “USA.” After all it was the 4th of July weekend. It was very crowded that night. After ‘pirates’ we went back to Frontierland so DD and DH could ride the antidote to excessive heat, Splash Mountain! DS and I played in the misting stations and then the playground near the ride’s exit. After DH and DD rode Splash Mountain there was some technical difficulty with the ride and they stopped it. DD and DH got on the very last ride. That night the park had Extra Magic Hours from 10pm-1am. We watched the 4th of July Celebration Fireworks in Magic Kingdom at 9pm in Liberty Square near the 1787 building and the Hall of Presidents. After the spectacular fireworks display was over we went to Fantasyland. DD didn’t want to do the Haunted Mansion at night, so we skipped it. Instead we opted for It’s a Small World, the Mad Tea Party and Dumbo rides. We watched Spectromagic at 10:30pm before leaving all the magic behind. We took our boat ride back to the resort. The kids went to sleep while DH and I packed the suitcases and settled our bill with the front desk before turning in for the night.
