Im Thinking of changing hotels to a disney owned resort, this is so that i can save money on my park ticket and also send ALL my shopping back to my room

Do you think it would spoil my discon experience if i wasnt at the Swan?

I'm staying AKL and I think there are quite a few others not staying at the swan. You will still gave a great time I believe and looks like lots of the meets and activities are in the parks anyway.

Emma, myself and the DD's are staying at the YC. Any of the Epcot area hotels are within "crawling" distance of the Swan. Maybe stay at one of those.

I was thinking of booking into a disney hotel so that i could get a length of stay pass included, but after checking out some of the prices it doesnt make that much of a difference. I think i will stay where i am (for now )

You will love the Swan.

Being at the Convention site is so easy. Especially for the early morning activities. If you are like us and relying on Disney transportation, trying to get to another hotel in the AM hours can be time consuming.

Be sure to check out CCs thread on Discount tickets if you have not already.

Swan/Dolphin guests get the same package delivery and length-of-stay passes as Disney resort guests.

Nancy just took the words out of my mouth Staying at the WDW S/D has all the perks of any WDW guest (except that you cannot charge back to your room except from S/D shops/restaurants), but at that great convention rate! Plus, if you're a Starwood Preferred Guest, you can earn SPG points for your stay!!

Gee, that sounds like an Ad for the hotels....I should get commission!

I stayed at OKW last year for the convention. I swore after then that I would never stay anywhere other than at a BW area resort. Getting to the early morning breakfasts and getting home after late night Kimono's, Jellyrolls etc is a pain in the backside to say the least!

If you DON'T have a rental car, then staying at sites other than the Boardwalk resorts will add complexity to getting to early and evening events.

The S/D is a great resort complex, I enjoy it very much there. Very convenient for so many things. Main thing missing for me, and not that big, is chargeback ability to the room bill for park purchases. Additionally, if like last year, the majority of DIS-Con is actually the mini-meets and 'unofficial' things, as pointed out by 4greatboys.

Emma, I don't know about your DIS-Con experience being ruined.....but it would definitely ruin MINE! Please stay at The Swan.
Besides, I think NancyIL took care of any 'issues' you may have had.

I have changed my ressies to the All-Star resort as DH is not attening Dis-con this year. With my Ap rate I'm saving over $100.00 per night---- Plus shuttle fee to and from resort. I found a great rental on an intermediate size car (buick -La sabre) --$150.00 for the lenght of stay. I also found out I can park at the other resorts as long as I have my All-star parking pass. I hope I won't be dissappointed with my choice. Atleast I will be enjoying WDW with my new friends from the Dis.

Fancy thinking about not staying at the Swan - I would have had something to say about THAT but now that you're back on track we'll just put these thoughts down to a "DPA" other wise known as a DISCon Panic Attack.
