I'm the worst Mom....

Ok, another bad Mom here. Al three of my girls cut their own hair when they were that age - yes 3 of them! You think after the first or even the second, I would learn to keep all of the scissors out of reach! The first wasn't that bad - in fact, I didn't even notice it on her, I just noticed the clump of hair under the dining room table and then went searching to find out where it came from (I was told it was from one of her Barbies!) The second was much worse - she cut a good 6 inches off of one side of her head - she had the most beautiful thick blonde hair. I wasn't feeling well that day - I was in bed with a stomach bug - so my husband took her to the hairdressers to have it "neatened up". She came back with a crew cut! I cried I think at least a week! I was mad at her, at myself, and DH! The third (just last year) was DD4 and she just decided to cut her bangs because they were getting in her eyes! By the third, I hardly even cared. I figured it was just a family ritual! Don't worry, some day you will laugh about it!

my 5 sisters and i have all been through the same thing with our children. It is tragic lol that it happened right before your trip. I will bet anything at least 1 CM will have something to say. lol

IF you need another laugh.....

2 of my sisters children ( i am not sure how old they were at the time... maybe 4 & 5) one day took her Always Pads and plastered then all over the front porch. Mind you now they lived in a row home across from a church / school. And this was during school and mass. So alot of people saw their decorations. Who knows what those people thought! It sure makes me :rotfl2: when it is brought up.

Hope your week goes better! Have fun in WDW

Oh to have little ones....What will they think of next.
I DO NOT want to know!!!!

I am so over the hair cut already..on to the next challenge.

Thanks for the stories. They make me feel better!

:rotfl2: Thanks for reminding me- my oldest was in Kindergarten -

it was his first school picture day and I said-"I'm glad that we had your hair cut yesterday, you will be so cute for your first school picture!"- he just smiled-

when I picked him up after school he looked odd to me. I pulled the car over to get a good look at him and he had cut ALL of his eyebrows off and managed to cut off a full eye's worth of lashes before the teacher caught him :furious: . At the time I was angry with the teacher for not stopping him- I found a note in his folder that said that she was sorry and wanted me to know that he hid in the little potty closet ( each KDG room has their own potty )and did his special hair cut magic. She asked if he needed help with his pants because he was gone so long and he said no  he was almost done.
YES, this was just before the picture was taken! :artist:

We now proudly display his "no eyebrow" picture from his first picture day at school on our livingroom wall along with all of his other school pictures and laugh every time that we see it! :rotfl: He really looked odd for months- so at least a little head hair can be blended in - try no eyebrows on for a change!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
THANKS! TOO funny!
(Plus, I taught kindergarten for 12 years so I can relate to the teacher too!)

Reading all this made me miss having really little ones in the house. DD7 & DD8, now know better about most things so those cute moments don't come along quite so often anymore. Enjoy it while you can...it won't be long until your kids are telling you 'Mom, please don't sing out loud in public' or 'Dad, you're shirt is too plain to be cool'.

I know...I try and appreciate all the little things....I think she's too big already and she's only 3 going on 4! I cry everytime she says something just a little more mature than I would expect from her. I hear ya! But listen, yours aren't too big yet either. Wait until we have teenagers!:scared1:

Oh boy...did I just get punished for spending too much time on the DISboards! My DD just CUT her brother's hair and right before his 1st birthday party on Sunday and our big WDW trip!!!!!!!

If you're anything like my family your DD will hear about her hair cutting experience for the rest of her life!! I guess (from what my mom tells me), when I was 4 and my sister was 2 I cut my sister's hair....ALL of it! She had middle of the back ringlets and I played barber shop and had my own fun.....oh, did I mention my dad was suppose to be watching us!! I still hear about it to this day, and see the family pics that were done that same weekend-Christmas pics!! oops!

You do know you are in for payback right....or has it already happed!!!
(meaning your kids will do what you did, yada yada....)

That's why i have ALL the scissors on top of fridge!! So far so good :teeth:

DD4, when she was 3, painted her face with my bright orange nail polish. All over her forehead, checks, chin and down her nose. She even got some on her eyelids. That was our phone call NUMBER 4 to poison control. (fyi from phone call number 2, you have to eat a whole pointsetta plant in order for it to make you sick.)
She's also rubbed butt cream into her arms and legs, "so we can go to the pool."
But here's my (IMO) worst parenting moment: We stopped at a public beach in St. Augustine on the way home from WDW for lunch and I told the girls, "you're not allowed to go in the water."
THAT set up a MAJOR MELTDOWN OF EPIC PROPORTIONS!
And while I'm trying to handle the screaming temper tantrums of two little girls, every person on the beach is looking at me like, how stupid are you, bringing your kids to a beach and not letting them get wet?

We are also waiting for our Disney trip to get ds4 (age 18 months) hair cut.

My Mother, annoyed at the length of his hair, put his hair in pigtails to "prove a point"

So my husband (note: not another sibling) decided to "trim" his bangs....

He ended up looking like "howie" from the movie Benchwarmers.....

Now I hide the scissors from my hubby, too.

That is the best!!!! :rotfl2: I love the pix too! :rotfl2: I'm telling you... I hope this thread keeps going because it just makes me feel good. It's like our little version of America's funniest....the posts.
It helps you not beat yourself up over things, don't ya think!

I'll be gone as of tomorrow....hopefully no mishaps there!!!
Keep the thread alive for me when I'm gone so I can have some more great giggles when I get back. I'll need it after realizing I'm back home! :sad2:
Talk to all you GREAT Mom's later!
Debbie

Oh and the stories live for decades! My DB cut his eyelashes off because he was tired of all the ladies saying what beautiful eyelashes he had.
Years later my DM came home and my Dsis ran to show her the drawings she made and all the people had real hair, my mom freaked and started checking Dsis's head she used the kiddy scissors to cut chunks out of her hair to glue to the pictures.
This thread is freaking me out my DS & DD have beautiful red hair that always gets talked about wherever they go and now I'm worried about my little 3 year old DD playing with scissors. :faint: :sad1:

I do not blame you for being scared! It is the worst feeling because you can't put that darn hair back and you know it's going to take forever to grow back!! That's why each time I have been thank*** that the damage was at least something I could "work with".
HIDE ALL SCISSORS!! (but then again they are not always with you.... )

I'm off to WDW tonight! I really stress out until I actually get there so I am a little crazy right now! Didn't sleep very much last night!
Have a good week everybody!

My mom's brother shaved her eyebrows off when she was a teenager. She is now 54 and they still won't grow back right...She has to pencil a lot of them in.

Bye Everyone! Now...I'm leaving for the trip...no really I'm leaving
.......wish me a trouble free trip please!!!
No WDW mishaps...please!
I'll be thinking of all of you. Talk to you when I get back!

Hi Debbie!
I was thinking of you today. You are probably in Disney right now- I'm so jealous!! My Lilah gave herself her 1st hair cut when she was 3. I was packing up my bows for eBay, so I had the tape and scissors out. I ran upstairs for literally 2 minutes and came down to find her holding scissors in one hand and her hair in another- her perfect waist length hair  I couldn't even look, I picked her up and brought her upstairs to show my husband with the hair in my hand. As I was crying and checking to see how bad it was, I notice our chihuahua running off with the hair in her mouth!!!! As if it couldn't get any worse!!
Luckily it turned out not to be too bad. She took some off of the side, but I could hide it by pulling it back :thumbsup2 Thank goodness she didn't have ponytails in because I think she would have chopped one off!!!! Although we just had her hair trimmed a few days ago and that hair still has not caught up to the rest- 2 years later!! We laugh about it now, and that ball of dog chewed hair is now in her baby book :)
Have a wonderful vacation!!!!
