I am buying curtains for my daughter's nursery and I'm having a terrible time matching colors-I'm so bad at that! Any advice?

I'm trying to find a shade of pink curtains to match the valances that are already up.

Here is the pattern on the valances (and she has the matching blanket):

The images are from Google-I don't have that pink sign above the window:

Her wall color is a very pale yellow.

I am deciding between the light pink:

or dark pink:

Thoughts? I'm leaning toward light pink, but not sure....

TIA!:goodvibes

I like the darker color with the valance, which is really cute.:)

The light pink would be more forgiving as far as matching the light pink in the valance. If the dark pink isn't exact it will stand out as not matching much more.

You will be able to blend other things with the light pink more easily also versus trying to match a stronger color -the dark pink.

I would go with the light pink. And light pink with light yellow is pretty.

Light pink. I think the dark pink is a little to hot to match.

Have you seen the pink curtains in person? I would lean towards the light pink but if you haven't seen them in person I would take one of the valances with you and make sure that the pink actually matches.

I would also consider white (or whatever neutral color that is in the valance) It might look better against the yellow walls.

The dark pink is an absolute no. The light might be okay, but it's hard to tell. I don't think they're the same value of pink, but it might be okay. Honestly, you can't go wrong with white or consider taking the balance to the fabric store and picking some fabric to match. Can you sew? Even if you can't you can make simple curtains with hem tape.

Do you need curtains? My kids have always just had a valence. Did that set have matching curtains? If not then I think it was probably meant to be used alone. It looks like there is a yellow border? Not sure that would look great against pink.

The dark pink is a no-no and I'm undecided on the light pink. The online picture makes the color appear too bright for close match to the baby pink in the valance. I'd personally opt for white to make the valance pop.

LOL-thank you! It looks like most of you are going with light pink, but I'm going to wait to see what more people say.

I'm so bad at matching colors, it's borderline embarrassing!

I would prefer no curtains at all, but I'm buying them because they are blackout curtains. Ever since daylight savings time started back up, my DD is having a terrible time napping & I'm pretty positive it's because its just so light in her room. She naps just fine at daycare and they have blackout curtains.

I have not seen them in person. They don't sell them at the store-online only. I can always return them if they look horrible, but I'd love to avoid that hassle.

Edited to correct myself... I see that the photo is not your actual room!!!

I can def. say that the dark pink curtains are darker and more of a hot-pink.

If you have checked other nearby stores, and haven't found a match, I would order the lighter pink first. I think it has a better chance of matching.
Even though, to my eyes, the pink in your valance looks like it has shades of a coral pink to the color.

And, PS: I do like the idea of curtains hanging at the window with that valance!!! It will look wonderful!

Have you checked your local stores (not just Walmart but also Target, Lowe's, Kmart, etc) to make sure they don't stock them? I ask because many stores stock those around here and I don't really think either one will really match. I will also add, that we have those curtains in various colors in every room of our house and I would not put a valance with them. I just don't think that they would look right.

I would be taking the valance with you (or a sample of the material) and matching it with a shade of pink that is in that. I would go for a lighter pink.

If you don't really want curtains, what about blackout blinds?
We have them in the living room and they darken the room really well, significantly better than the blackout curtains we had previously. You can find a range of prices and colors (plenty of neutrals) at places like Lowes, Pennys, etc.
You order them to fit the window frame, and they only took my husband about 15 minutes to install.
Just thought I'd confuse you more. lol.

The first two images of your valance are blocked for me at work, so I can't help with matching, but I can tell you we have the Quinn panels in light blue in my son's room.

We left the blinds on the window since we are in a rental. With the blinds down and the curtains closed it is not completely dark, as you would imagine with "black-out" curtains. It is nice and dim though - which I actually like because it does help the person sleeping to keep in mind when it is day or night time.

At the time we got them, I ordered every single blue panel that looked remotely close to the right color and then took all the ones that didn't match his bedding back. The Quinn ones matched the best. The colors vary so much compared to what is shown online. I will say the "light blue" color shown online is very close to what they look like at home.

Another option since you have a valance, would be to get a traditional roll down black-out vinyl shade that you just pull down at night time or nap time. You could mount it under the valance so it is not seen when it is up.

Good luck!
