I'm taking my first Ambien tonight!

Do you take it every night?

I can count on one hand the the number of times I have slept through the night in the last 20 years.

It's starting to take it's toll and I'm ready to seek help. I don't want to take something every night, but I would love to be able to sleep through the night once a month.

Yes, I have Fibromyalgia and it helps my pain and helps me fall asleep. I usually do a 1-2 week drug holiday every year and try something herbal or OTC......but have never found anything else that works.

Ambien works beautifully - I have trouble with racing thoughts at bedtime, but after I take my Ambien - out like a light:)

I have taken ambien for a long time. It really helps with my fibromyalgia which is made worst by my not getting deep sleep. I only take half of the very small pills and find it's enough. I don't hallucinate, sleep walk or anything. I guess occasionally I do get a little goofy if I try to stay up after taking it. They help me tremendously. If I am feeling really good I start to not take them for awhile, but when I start to get alot of pain I go back on it. I have never had to increase my dosage. I do feel a little badly for a night or two if I don't take it after taking it for a long time. I think you will do better if you exercise caution but not worry too much. Many people take it without any side effects.

I also have fibromyalgia and could not sleep. I guess I got lucky, my dr. put me on an antidepressant (celexa) at bedtime and it works pretty good. I can now sleep 5 hrs instead of a couple here and there.

I work shift work and have used Ambien many times over the years to help me get the sleep I need. It is wonderful for the nights I work late and have to be at work early in the am. It only stays in you system for a few hours. I never fell groggy in the morning.

I also have gotten out of bed after taking Ambien, because I always seem to remember things as I'm trying to fall asleep. No one in my family has ever reported me doing anything odd. It's been a huge help to me!

I am shocked at all these Ambien stories.....guess I'm lucky it works for me. I also only take 1/2 a tablet.

The first time I took Ambien, I was lying in bed watching TV and started seeing double. But that was it. After that it didn't do anything to me. It didn't even help me sleep any better, so I stopped using it. The doctor stressed to me that I had to GO RIGHT TO BED AS SOON AS I TOOK IT but I'd still lie there for hours awake even after taking it.

I've been taking Ambien occasionally for the past 3 weeks following a knee replacement surgery. The Doctor said it is very common to have sleep issues after a knee replacement and sent me home with a script. I have to say I use it 2-3 times a week with no problems. I wake up refreshed and so far no weird side effects.
