but I can't find the answers I'm looking for anywhere. I was planning a trip for June of 2012 but we just bought a house and there's some stuff we need for that before a vacation can happen. So, I'm now starting to look to 2013 for our trip. Where can I find information on when the "best" time of year to go is? I'm not against taking my kids out of school but I want it to be worth it. I am planning on renting DVC and we'd be there for a week. Thanks a bunch!

It really depends on what you view as "best" for your vacation. Do you want low crowds? Then avoid any times that school is out of session (think holidays and long weekends). Do you want cool sights? Try something like late September for low crowds and the Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party or early December for the Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party. If gardens are your thing, try to be there for the Flower and Garden Festival in the spring, and if you have Star Wars fans in the family try for a weekend in May/June for Star Wars Weekends.

Personally my favourite time to travel to Disney is late September, halloween decor is up, crowds are generally low, and the halloween party is on. I am hoping to get there for the Food and Wine festival this year so that may change, but if I'm voting now, I say late September, early October.

Those seem to be our prime picks.....based on value season (cheapest room rates) and lower crowds. We also enjoy the Halloween festivities more than the Christmas one and this is because the weather is more conducive to swimming, we enjoy the resort pool alot....

We're not into the free dining plans so that doesn't enter into our thinking.....but we generally get a good general or AP discount for the room only reservation (we never do packages) and weather is a big decision for us...we want the sun and heat....but anymore, with different promotions Disney offers, crowds will vary greatly...really hard to predict (seems weekends are all plain nuts ) anymore but generally September/October have been decent for us...

Well yes, crowds are a big thing. My husband doesn't do well in huge crowds but it being Disney, I'm sure he can deal better than say at Walmart on Black Friday. Weather is another big thing. I know it can be unpredictable but we all get grumpy in the humid nasty hotness. I'm not too big on the "extra" events at Disney. My husband and son would love the Star Wars thing but it's not a must...same with the other ones. Thanks for your insight though!

My absolute favorite time to go is the final week of August. Im from the north east so we are still on summer vacation, and the Florida kids are in school.
