At the beginning of the year I lost ten pounds in about one month on my own by simply not drinking any pop (soda). I have not been able to take off anymore since. I made the mistake last week of going to LA Weight Loss for help, but their program was a little too restrictive for me. I eat out a lot, so I have problems following anyone's plan. How do you lose weight when most of your meals are take-out?

I follow the Atkins plan and I find that it adapts easily to take out and to eating out.

Just about the only place I won't get take out is Taco Bell, other than that I can adapt just about every other fast food.

I get fajitas with cheese, sour cream and guacamole but no tortillas. Or a double bacon cheese burger without the bun, olive burger with no bun. Grilled chicken sandwich without the bun.

I love getting shrimp scampi to go, too. My very favorite dinner out is at the Outback. Salad (no croutons), steak, grilled vegetables, skewer of shrimp with drawn butter, yummy!

Have you considered trying Atkins or WW? They are both excellent eating programs and adapt well to eating take out.

No sad faces allowed, cutie. We will help you work through this issue. I think you just need a little more structure in your eating plan, just not as much structure as LA weight loss.

You can do this, we're going to help you, okay?

I agree with Kath----no sad faces allowed. I think it's in the WISH by-laws somewhere!:D :D

You have taken some very positive steps, so far. Cutting down on soda was great. And I don't see that going to LA Weight Loss was a mistake, at all. You are beginning to investigate different weight loss plans and you just found one that wasn't right for you. That's a positive step because now you know what your needs are in a plan. I think you just need to do some more research and find the one that best meets your needs.

I have been on Weight Watchers for 3 weeks now and have eaten out 2-3 times per week. So far, I have lost 8.4 pounds. I will have my weigh in on Monday for week 4 and I hope to make the 10 pound mark!

As far as eating out on WW goes, it's a matter of adjusting your other meals so that you have enough points to eat out on. Also, you can choose places that serve things that will stay within your plan. Mexican food is my favorite and there I will choose 2 chicken fajitas. In other restaurants, I will usually have chicken and veggies or a small steak and baked potato. I was even able to have 2 slices of pizza one night! If the serving sizes are too big, I just divide it up when it comes and ask for a box (so I won't be tempted to eat it) or give it to DH.

You're on your way, RAMWDWFAN, you just have to find the plan that is right for you!

This is a good place to be. Congrats on your initial weight loss. Definitely research the diets. You will find the one that's right for you. Good luck on your journey!!:smooth:

You can always try the 1/2 diet - basically what ever you order to eat or take to eat only eat half. I have a friend who because of her work eats out every lunch and a few dinners a week - she eats only 1/2 of what she is given and doesn't take the rest in a doggie bag - and she has been a size 8 for years! - Might work - might not. I know it wouldn't work for me I'd eat it all;)

I agree with Kath, I am also on Atkins and I don't find eating out a problem at all!! I absolutely love seafood, steak and veggies and usually most restaurants have this! :)

Congratulations though on your initial weight loss!! That is great! :)
