LOVE AKL!! And just talked with the other mom last night from our Mother/Daughter trip in August.......she wants to stay at AKL instead of POR and with the discount out now, there wasn't that much of a difference between the two!!! We are going back to AKL!!!

OH, and had to tell you that I loved your video clip from MNSSHP. I love your enthusiasm for everything. It's one thing to read along, getting to know people that way, but seeing and hearing your excitement just added to getting to know you a bit better. Thank you. That was really fun.

I can’t believe Paul is GONE. I mean, he is like Stacey, is frogfish form, but not. Because like no one is as amazing as Stacey. Except like Walt. But ya know… I tried to find Paul in November but he was nowhere to be found. HOW COULD YOU DO THIS, DISNEY?!?

The sun setting at Disney is BEAUTIFUL. Spaceship Earth looks gorgeous. UGH.

I am literally STARVING right now. And these food pics from Jiko are not helping. HOLY CRAP. The food looks so delicious. I REALLY want to go to Jiko, but my mom is not really an adventurous eater. I am the totally opposite and will eat anything. I am dying to try the food at Jiko, but I don’t see that happening very soon. And this is why I need to take a solo trip. I was thinking how awkward it must be to eat a meal alone but my opinion just totally changed. I would just need to meet a chef from Botswana and I’d be all set!

ISN’T THE BALLROOM AMMMAZINGGG?!??!?! If you didn’t get an ADR for BOG in four days (!!!!!!), I would try a walk up if you really want to eat there. I got a walk up in November and HOLY CRAP. There were no words. I went RIGHT at 3:45 and got in at four. An early dinner, but it IS BE OUR GUEST!

I know. It makes me very sad. And I agree, he is the Stacey of exotic fish.

Well there are some less adventurous options on the menu too. You should go over it with her and see what she says!

Yes, it's breathtaking. Unfortunately we don't have a BOG reservation but I have plans to do the CS for lunch so hopefully that will work out!

I peaked inside the door and he was bent over yelling down the drain "Rapunzel, Rapunzel" It was the cutest thing ever. After reading about your adventures I had to share.

Day 8, Part 1 In Which I'M STUCK IN DISNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I woke up around 3:00 AM feeling kinda sick. Not like with a cold, just still really tired and STILL FULL FROM JIKO and I just felt really heavy and my stomach hurt a little. I also felt SO DEPRESSED over leaving and I had so much anxiety over how I was going to fit everything into my bags. Also, I had so much food left over that I didn't want to waste but I didn't know how I was going to carry it home... I just started freaking out. I hate when I worry about every little thing. It happens sometimes but NOT IN DISNEY! So I was not happy.

I could not fall back asleep so I looked at my phone. There were a mass amount of texts and voicemails from so many people back home. Everyone was FREAKING OUT over Sandy.

This was the morning before it hit the NY/NJ area and my parents especially were just worried sick, but even people I had not talked to in a while were texting me about it, so that's when I knew it was serious.

My mom told me my flight was most likely going to be canceled. For some reason, I still didn’t think that would happen. Probably because a lot of time the media exaggerates these storms before they happen and it scares people. They then overreact and over-plan for nothing.

Of course being parents, mine were thinking the worst and worrying about my safety. I assured them I would check and double check with the airlines and be the safest possible. I'm not proud to say that on top of worrying about everyone back home, I did get a little twinge of "I might have to stay here!" excitement. :/ SORRY I COULDN'T HELP IT. I mean, imagine how sad it is when you have to leave Disney. Imagine if you then discovered YOU MAY NOT HAVE TO!

After texting/emailing everyone back I was able to go back to sleep.

I set my wake up call for 8am, but either it didn't happen or I slept right through it! I ALWAYS have my phone on silent, but I happened to leave it on "calls only" mode just in case there was a new development/emergency. So good thing my parents called around 8:30! I drowsily picked up and just told them there is no sense in discussing anything until I talk to the airline, so then I got off the phone looked at my e-mail. I had booked through Expedia and they sent an e-mail saying that my flight was in fact canceled.

I couldn't believe my eyes.

I WAS STAYING IN DISNEY!

Oh my God. Seriously?

Even though I was worried for everyone else, I relaxed a little. It is ridiculously nice to know that you get to stay in Disney World when you were just about to leave. This whole time I had extremely mixed feelings!

So I called Expedia and discussed the situation. I don't remember the exact details but they were not very helpful throughout the whole thing. I understand though because I assume they were slammed with thousands of calls and e-mails. However, they should have been better prepared for this in my opinion. They suggested I take a flight that was leaving the next day and so I got a case # and said I would call back.

I called my mom and she was like "DO NOT FLY TOMORROW; it is going to be even worse!" Again, I thought she was exaggerating b/c I assumed the Expedia people would up on all the news down to a T, and I was wrong! My mom was right. Little did I know, I wouldn't be home for over a week. CRAZY.

At this point I believed the severity of the storm but I did not grasp the damage that it would cause. So I never thought I would be in Florida as long as I was. I thought Sandy would come, make a mess but nothing that serious, and then I’d be able to fly home. Of course, we all know that it was much, much worse than that. I probably sound like an idiot, but remember, I had been in the Disney bubble all week. I had no idea what was about to happen.

I called the Front Desk and explained the whole situation. Right away I was treated with care and concern! I LOVE DISNEY. See, *they* have a game plan for when this happens. I said I wanted to book another night and they offered me a Hurricane Rate without me even ASKING. Now that is service, people. You are not supposed to take advantage of people in their time of need, you are supposed to help them, and that is what Disney did! I LOVE YOU DISNEY.

Expedia told me I could either get a refund for my flight or I could get a credit toward another flight. The other flights they offered cost a lot more than my credit and I would have to pay the difference. In my opinion, if your flight is canceled they should replace that flight for you without charging extra. I know it's not Expedia's fault and they have to do what the airlines say, so I don't fully blame them. It just doesn’t seem right. Thank God I was stuck in the greatest place ever, or I would have been so mad.

I just decided to take the refund, because what's the point of having a credit when you can just get your money back? The lady told me it would take about 3 business days to go back on my card. I understood since that is the normal amount of time for a refund. But when I called back to ask something else, another person told me it could take up to two weeks! I was so annoyed because if I had known that I would have just kept my credit! I was like, I need that money back ASAP, I have to pay for another flight. And they just said it depends on your bank and that's it. Sorry, bye.

UGH.

All of this stuff took hours and I was SO TIRED STILL. Since it was no longer my last day I decided to get some sleep. I knew I would enjoy myself so much more later on if I was rested, so I put my phone back on silent and tried to sleep away all the #StuckinDisney12 stress!

I woke up around 1:00 PM and I again took care of all my calls, emails, and stuff like that. I started unpacking some stuff and it was just CRAZY. I could not believe it.

Not to be dramatic but it was pretty much the same thing as someone on Death Row getting pardoned. I WAS STAYING IN DISNEY! And I even though I only had one extra night currently booked, I figured I would end up staying the next one too. So I was gettin' comfortable!

I then decided to have a delicious meal of Four Cheese Pesto Pizza and Mac & Cheese from Wolfgang Puck's! And I didn't even have to leave my resort. Ahh, it was wonderful. I am so glad I got takeout from WPE 2 days earlier. It's like I knew!!!

I also ate some of my leftover stuff from Jiko. It was an absolutely WONDERFUL meal. Oh my God. I was kind of in Heaven.

I decided I really had to try and let go of all my guilt from being #StuckinDisney. I couldn’t help but worry while all my loved ones were in harm's way, but the fact was, there was nothing I could do for them except keep them in my thoughts & prayers. So I had to just appreciate my luck of being in Disney at the time of this hurricane and enjoy myself!

So instead of my original plan of getting on Magical Express and going home… I went to Animal Kingdom.

Yeah.

I can’t deny it: IT ROCKED. It was amazing heading to park instead of the freaking AIRPORT.

Oh my God. What a fantasy, honestly.

As I walked to the bus stop, I saw some CMs doing the Hokey Pokey with kids by the Fantasia Pool and just got such a surge of "This is the most magical place on earth and I DON'T HAVE TO LEAVE!" I think I probably skipped the rest of the way.

Meanwhile, the weather was absolutely PERFECT. Warm and sunny with a nice breeze. So I did feel guilty. People at home were boarding up windows and taking shelter underground, and I was basking in the Florida sunshine! Life isn't fair. You never know when you are going to be on the good side of the coin, and by some amazing stroke of luck, I was on the good side this time.

I was so happy to get some extra Animal Kingdom time in!

Let The Bonus Days Begin!

It was just so weird because usually on my departure day I go do a bunch of stuff one last time and then go to the Magic Kingdom before having to leave. And here I was, all willy nilly at Animal Kingdom with nothing but time to kill!

So I decided to linger in the Oasis a little bit to see if I could find some animals I never saw before.

I FOUND THIS PRECIOUS CREATURE!

Oh my God. would you just look at its little body! Ahh!

I just really wanted to hold it and pet it and take care of it. I WAS INSTANTLY IN LOVE.

It looked like a baby deer to me, but I figured it was some cool African deer. I talked to a nearby CM who filled me in! It's called a Reeve's Muntjac:

I thought that thing about it barking was SO cool! You would think it would be completely vulnerable to predators like the tiger, but the CM told me that bark totally keeps them away, and it really sounds like a dog. That is so interesting to me. Unfortunately, I didn't get to hear the barking but I just thought that was really cool. I can't wait to visit this animal again!

I moved on and made my way to Discovery Island!

Like I said, I really had no plan. I just wandered into Camp Minnie-Mickey.

Dragon Waterfall! Remants of the mythical creatures element of Animal Kingdom that almost was!

Most creative water fountain ever? I think so.

I noticed the Character Greeting trails did not have long lines. It was great arriving to Animal Kingdom closer to closing when most people were outta there. So I got in line for Donald, cause I was wearing his Magical Ribbon mini.

Love that thing.

You know what was awesome? Camp Minnie-Mickey was decked out for Halloween! There were decorations everywhere, Halloween music playing, and the characters were wearing special costumes! If you haven't noticed, Halloween is kinda my thing so I was SO happy. I had also never met characters at these trails before so it was a whole new experience for me!

DONALD WAS SO CUTE AND FUNNY. Oh my God, I love that duck.

The kid who went before me had a Mickey Mouse pen to go with his autograph book. Obviously, this was unacceptable. As you can see in the photo above, Donald put the pen on his nose and refused to use it. LOL!

When it was my turn, he was even more hilarious.

First he stepped back and opened his arms and pointed to all his beautiful Halloween decorations. He then went over one of the big fake spiders and started petting it. I OOOHed and AHHHed and just acted like the whole display was the most amazing thing ever.

Next, I put my head down and showed him my Donald bow. He stomped his feet and pointed and then gestured at the Character Attendant, like, "LOOK AT THIS!!" and the attendant thought it was so cool!

Donald decided he would show off his Davy Crockett hat to me next and started petting the animal tail hanging off it.

I told him it was "just lovely" which was of course sarcasm! I do not support killing animals for hats. But Donald was just adorable so I let it slide. It was so great that it wasn't just like a hug and taking a picture. AHH I LOVED IT.

Luckily, he wasn't offended by my Princess pen. LOL.

Day 8, Part 2 In Which I Look Like A Princess

Next, I got to meet Pluto!

He ran up to me all excited the way any dog would and gave me a big hug! I told him I loved his Halloween decorations and he nodded and showed me his awesome pumpkin collar/dog tag!

After that I got into Mickey's line which was the longest. The boss is in very high demand!

His character attendant was the best person in the world. I say this because as soon as he saw me he said, "I thought I saw a princess!" I was like "Where?" even though I knew he meant me since he said it right to me. He was older and just like so genuinely kind. He said to me, "I know you... you work in one of the other parks, right?" and I said no. He said, "I thought you were a princess! You're not? I thought you were Cinderella!" I told him definitely not but I wish I was. He told me that I looked like a princess and I could be and it was just the best moment. A lot of people have said that to me, and Cast Members have thought I was a CM in the past, but to have one actually THINK I'm a princess friend when they are around actual princesses every day& it was just the best compliment ever!

When I got up to Mickey, I told him I LOVED his costume and he showed it off. I also told him I went to his Halloween party at the Magic Kingdom and he nodded cause obviously he knew. But then he was like "Me?" and I was like YEAH YOU! and he put his hand to his mouth like, "Oh, gosh!" He's precious.

HUGS NOT DRUGS.

Next up was the lovely Minnie Mouse!

I can't remember this greeting that well but I do recall that there was such a difference between her movements and Mickey's! She was just so like... girly and sassy, especially when I said I loved her costume.

THAT WAS SO FUN. I was so happy I took the time out to meet everyone!

I still had to meet Pocahontas. I never have before! I looked at the Character Greeting guide and she was supposed to be out right then for her last appearance of the day. What luck!

However, after a few minutes she didn't come out, so I asked a nearby CM if she was going to be there anytime soon. She told me that Pocahontas' schedule that day was altered and that she would be out in about 15 minutes. It was no problem, I would just hang out til then.

More Halloween decorations, yay!!

I loved it.

I sat down and waited on a bench and a duck couple came out of the bushes QUACKING SO LOUD! I think maybe they may have been in an argument.

Pocahontas' line was starting to form already so I got up and got in line so I could be one of the first to meet her!

There was this British little girl who got in line behind me and she was SO ANNOYING. I rarely am annoyed by children, but she was really bad. Normally, I love when kids randomly talk to me because I find them adorable and often fascinating. However, this one was just so rude and kept hinting around that she was going to cut in line. She made up some big lie about how she had to get to the other side of the park for something so she had to meet Pocahontas FAST. Her story kept changing and I mostly kept quiet because I didn't want to egg her on at all. If she had just sweetly ASKED me if she could go in front of me, I would have just said yes. She's a little girl at Disney and I don't care if one person goes in front of me. That wasn't the point. The problem was her dad was standing by watching her inch more and more toward cutting me in line and hearing everything she was saying and he just let her do it. I'm sure he always just lets her do whatever she wants and that's why she thought it was fine to just go right in front of me AND the people that were first in line who had 2 little girls with them. I think they didn't know what to do. They kept looking to the father to say something and he never did.

Also it was really weird b/c this little girl seemed like it meant SO much to her to meet Pocahontas and then her dad asked her what movie Pocahontas was from (?!) and the little girl DIDN'T EVEN KNOW! She wasn't that little either, she was maybe like 8 or 9. I was like, um, the movie is called POCAHONTAS. Someone get this kid some manners and a copy of this movie STAT.

Once Pocahontas did come out, this girl got even more anxious. I wish her father had just said Stand here, wait your turn, it will be your turn soon. Like all parents usually do when eager kids run toward characters. However, it wasnt my kid. So I just let her do it, it's not my job to teach her right from wrong and I didnt want to start anything. Whatever man.

So once it was my turn to meet everyone's favorite nature-loving, flowy-haired, wise and independent Indian princess, I got a good look at her and I thought... hmm, she looks different than I remember her from the movie! But I mean, that came out in 1996. You know, people change. LOL.

She was nice though, she asked me if I saw any animals today and even though I hadnt, I just told her about the gorillas and how they were having a face off the other day. She thought that was really cool and said she likes to visit them too when she isn't chasing Meeko and Flit around.

After I said goodbye to Pocahontas, I was just in such a great mood. Here I was supposed to be on the Magical Express and instead I had just met five characters. Oh my God.

Next, I headed off in search of my next #StuckInDisney12 adventure!

P.S. I AM LEAVING FOR DISNEY WORLD IN 58 HOURS. I have no idea how on EARTH I am going to get everything done in time. No idea. I am in shock. I literally can not believe it in that I don't even feel like it's actually happening. I am serious, I am going to have to be on that Magical Express bus with Lee-Anne passing through the gates before I believe this is real.

I have to work all day tomorrow, MY LAST WORK DAY!!! and between that and Mother's Day, I have absolutely NO idea how I am going to get everything together by then. IT'S CRAZY. I mean I am going to be gone from home for so long! I don't even know. I AM DYING. THIS IS INSANE. I AM ABOUT TO HAVE THE BEST TRIP EVER AND MY BRAIN JUST CAN'T BELIEVE IT.

I will try and post as many updates as possible before then but like I said, I've got a lot to do. It's almost 10:30 and I haven't even had dinner yet! Sigh.

Oh Donald. Word of warning to everyone... he tends to get very upset (in a totally adorable way) with Mickey merch more than any other. Last week I had a Mickey sticker on my shirt (mostly to cover a coffee stain), but he wouldn't take the picture until I took the sticker off. I loved it. Character interaction is the best!

Oh my god I can't even believe it! Seriously we went to Animal Kingdom that day too!!!! Of course we left the park at 1:00 to try and arrange our extended stay - our flight wasn't canceled until 11:30 that morning (we were supposed to be flying out at 9:00 that night) and we were flying into Atlantic City! My mom was super stressed and freaking out that day since pretty much my entire family lives along the coast (she even started crying at guest services). I have to admit though, I was pretty excited about the whole being stuck in Disney thing, especially since the first flight out we could get was Friday morning which gave us four more days!

Anyway didn't you just love the characters in their fall costumes? So cute. And yeah, I thought there was something a little off with Pocahontas as well. Also, that is so awesome that someone thought you were a princess.

Have an amazing time on your trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DH and I almost got stuck in Disneyland because of hurricane Isaac, so I can kind of understand how that goes. If we had been kidless at that time, we would have reacted the exact same way you did...worry for the people at home, but hey, it's still pretty awesome to get more time in DL right?! Unfortunately, panic over being stuck away from Paxton took over, so we ended up on an earlier flight when ours for that night was cancelled.

We missed all of the Halloween decorations at Camp Minnie-Mickey!! Now I must rectify this next trip. We went to the greeting trails on Friday the 25th, and they were not decorated, but when we went on the 27th (the day before you apparently) we didn't check out the trails. Definitely need to make sure we do this on our trip this year. How freaking adorable is Minnie's dress? And Mickey as a scarecrow?!?!

I know you are already in Disney World, so have a FANTASTIC MAGICAL WONDERFUL AMAZING TRIP!

So like right now you are probably running around Disney with Jess and Hula Timon. I have been following along on Twitter and Instagram thus far and OMG I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU! Can’t wait to hear more about the trip!

And now onto the updates…

That is ridiculous Expedia didn’t prepare for Sandy. Like, you were in the Disney bubble all week so of course you weren’t paying attention to the news because DISNEY (so understandable!) but Expedia should’ve since, um, they’re a huge travel company and all. No biggie or anything. But Disney is great and helps you. THAT IS WHY DISNEY IS AWESOME. The end.

I hate when people just pass the Oasis. There are so many cool animals there!

I know about the dragon waterfall but where is it? I have looked for it so many times.

I LOVE Camp Minnie Mickey at Christmas because of all the decorated Christmas trees but HALLOWEEN LOOKS SO COOL.

So um the picture of you hugging Mickey is like the cutest thing I HAVE EVER SEEN. And that character attendant… oh my god. That is just precious.

Oh God. Parents need to control their kids. AND WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT MOVIE POCAHONTAS IS FROM. Not that hard people…

How fitting that I finished this trip report when you just arrived for your next adventure! Love reading about your escapades!!!

I tried to convince my oldest son to audition for a Prince role since he graduated from the Youth Performing Arts School. Really that seemed like the dream college intern job. You probably can't even do that but you would think he would at least entertain the thought. Alas,he broke my heart and decided to be an electrician...He would have been a perfect Eugene complete with the smolder.
