Me- 24, a little crazy, and totally addicted to Disney World
Mom- older than 24, also crazy and addicted to Disney World
Day 1- 12/8/04
I woke up early (although I did oversleep!) and the no-longer significant other (but that's another story..) drove me to the airport. I checked in with no wait, got through security with no wait, and then waited at the gate. So I guess it all evens out. I people watched (SO much fun!) and finally bought a book (In Her Shoes- pretty good!). The flight was uneventful, and went by too slowly! We landed, and the very nice gentleman behind me got my carry-on down from the overhead compartment. Very nice!
I got to baggage claim, collected my bag and sat outside to read and enjoy the warmth while I waited for Mom. Her flight was landing at 11, so I headed back in to meet her and we found our towncar driver. Before long we were on our way!
We got to Pop Century at about 12:30 and I checked in in record time. Our room was ready (0436) in the 70's section. It was on the end, and very quiet. We changed and headed to MK for lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern. I asked about a Guest Assitance Card at Town Hall (we didn't think Mom could handle the moving walkways on some of the rides), but the not-so-nice CM just kept telling me to use Fastpass. I tried to tell her that we weren't trying to skip waiting, and that even with FP, Mom would have to use the moving walkways and might go boom! The CM told me Mom wouldn't fall (and she turned out to be right- so maybe she's psychic?). She also said the walkways can't be stopped, anyway. So I don't know if we should've been able to be helped or not, but we ended up doing fine with out her stinking assitance. Humph!
I was miffed about this, but once we got to lunch, I calmed down. The meal was great- Mom had the Colony Salad and the Griddle Poundcake. I Had the pot roast and chocolate cake thingee with the warm middle and the raspbery sauce, and oh my gosh it was so good! We walked out just as the parade went by. What timing! We watched that, then headed to Haunted Mansion. Mom was nervous about trying to get on rides, but willing to try. We figured we'd tackle a tough one (moving walkway AND dark!) to see if she could, and she did! No problem at all. So I guess I can't be mad at that CM anymore.
Got FP or Philharmagic, then off to tomorrowland for Carousel of Progress. The we rode Space Mountain (this was the hardest ride for Mom- she could get in, but getting her out was tough! And her being stuck made us laugh, which made it harder.) before using our FP for Philharmagic. It was awesome, of course! It was getting close to Spectromagic time, so I got some drinks and we waited. Mom loved the parade (me too!), and we decided to head out before Wishes because we would see it at MVMCP on Thursday.
But we didn't want to go back, so we monorailed over to Epcot to ride Spaceship Earth and Test Track. Then we power walked around World Showcase and had desert in France. Finally, we were ready to head back to POP. We bought our mugs, got drinks (no Cherry Coke! Do the All-Stars still have it? If not, I'm going to write a letter!) and went to sleep.
Yikes, that was tiring. Next- AK and MVMCP
