I'm souring on split stays...

We used to do split stays when we first became members. I wanted to try all the resorts, but over time, I hated packing up and being roomless for a day. Now we just spend our whole trip at one resort. We might entertain a spit stay as you can head to a waterpark if they still offer the waterpark tickets on check in day.
We did split stay to take advantage of free water park on check in day at second resort. It worked out great.

When you are in the midst of a split stay and you carefully packed in space bags the clothes you picked out for each day in its own bag so you don’t unpack it all at once before moving resorts and your husband tries to help while you are in the shower and opens up and hangs up the clothes for the wrong day 🤨

I do split stays every trip. I stay 3, 3 and 4 nights for a total of 10 at three different resorts. I am used to it, so it is not an issue for me. I have an insulated backpack that I put all of my refrigerated in and take over to the next resort and leave it with the bell desk.

We're not a fan of split stays either due to the mental load to the pack to leave for DW/unpack/pack/unpack and pack on departure and that's if we're just doing two resorts! It's too disruptive for us and we do have an owner's locker, so once all that stuff is out, we don't want to repack and unpack and repack again. That being said, we haven't stayed at all of the resorts. So, this October trip I booked an 'arrival day stay' to 'sample' a new resort where we won't unpack everything as we're basically ready from travel day, so it's really the next days clothes and tooth brush, etc., so not nearly a full unpack. The next day we'll have everything transferred, so I'm hoping that it's much less of a headache and not as mentally disruptive. We'll see. We love our home resort, but know that there are many other great options and we want to see what makes the others unique.

This October will be arrival at OKW and transfer to GF. I'm looking forward to the laid back vibe of OKW and the close proximity to Disney Springs and then we'll settle into the GF and call it good for six nights. I'm thinking that's gonna work.

We aren’t split stay folks. I like to unpack and get settled in. We also go back to the resort every day for naps and to decompress from peopling, so I don’t think I’d like the “homeless” feeling when switching between resorts.

I guess I’d do it if we had to piece a stay together, but I think we’d probably just do less days or keep searching until we didn’t have to switch.

I've really enjoyed most of our split stays, but DH is totally over it. He'd be happy to ONLY stay at our home, BWV, for ALL of our trips, for the rest of our travels, while I want to try other resorts, and the only way I'll get to do that , is really a split stay, BWV plus somewhere else. We usually do something like a 4-4, or 4-3, or 5-3 or 2 kind of split, and almost always w a BWV part of it.
I do agree, big pain to pack up midstay, especially the way we travel. We bring a LOT of stuff, and buy quite a few groceries, etc. that need to be move. We do always drive, so we are able to just load up car, and leave the stuff in it, until the next room is ready. '
I actually love AKL, love it there! BUT certainly don't want 7 or 8 days. Our favorite parks now are Epcot/HS, and walking from BWV is just too convenient. so we just plan our days around which resort we're at, best we can.
There's so many resorts I still haven't tried: GFV, RIV, BRV (did finally get to do CCV, w/o DH, haha, and LOVED it there) Poly tower, and split stays are great for just a couple days to try them out.

Skywalker3 my DH is the same way. The only reason we stay anywhere but VGF is because we bought points at CCV and Poly Tower. I did get him to relent on arrival night when we drive. We will book a studio at wherever is available at 7 months and then move for 10 night at VGF in a 1bedroom for the full trip. I am excited this year as we will be staying in a studio in the Poly Tower and this will be our first stay at Poly point owners.

I will saw we really like to move in when we get there for our summer trips. We have two Owners lockers and the idea of packing both of them and our luggage would stress me out. So we have our Owners Lockers delivered the 2nd day we are there and when we move to the 1bdrm that way we only unpack once and DH is happy and I am happy because I tried something different for at least 1 night.

I got back a week ago from my second split stay, 4 nights each at Boardwalk and Copper Creek, and I am coming to the conclusion that I don't like the split stay. The problem isn't the packing up half way through the trip, or losing access to a room during the heat of the day, its that it's too discombobulating when switching between the resorts. I love both resorts (which is why I bought there), but they are so very different in style, atmosphere and location that the move messes too much with my head.

I feel I don't get enough time to really take advantage of all that the boardwalk has to offer, and its location next to Epcot & HS. In theory, during the festivals I should just be able to nip through the IG and get a dish or two from France or the other close countries and head back, but I didn't get the chance. I did discover Ale & Compass at YC which has an amazing moule starter.

At Copper Creek, I don't think I spent enough time soaking in the atmosphere in the lobby, and it wasn't even holiday season when its even more special. I only ate at Geyser Point once when staying there. I did get to enjoy the pools and had the most magnificent view from my 6th floor balcony during a florida rain storm.

I suppose this is a general problem with a disney vacation - FOMO - there is always more to do, and when you split stay, more opportunities are at your doorstep that you don't always get to take advantage of, so the FOMO is more pronounced.
Less park time, more resort time.

(World Showcase is just an extension on BW… so that doesn’t count)

We've grown into loving split stays! Several nights where we can walk to EP/HS, and several nights enjoying access to AK, DS, and the occasional trip to MK (we don't do MK as much anymore!). We just make sure we have a pool or cabana or shopping day when we're without a room for 5-6 hours!
we are doing split stay BWV and Poly in July but it's not ideal, it's easier to settle in. We'll do the waterpark on our moving day so may not be terrible this time

I'd forgotten about that! I have a split stay coming up, due to necessity. My first night will be in a different resort than the rest of my trip. So do you mean I could go to a water park on the second day of my WDW stay, the switchover day? Can I go to either Water Park I want to (assuming it's open)? Then do both Water Parks have transportation to the resorts?

Switching resorts will unlike a waterpark day! It’s a great thing to have access to if you want to have a relaxing day and not worry about the whole homeless aspect if it.

They provide transportation to them but some resorts, if not all, have a transfer somewhere.

We always use Lyft on way there just to avoid.
