but... I don't get the dvc point system. I was looking to stay at animal kingdom lodge for 1 night in april and it said I needed 30 points. How much are points and how do I go about getting them? Sorry to be stupid..
To get points, you have to buy an interest in a Disney Vacation Club resort. It's Disney's version of a timeshare.
But, you don't need to be a DVC member to stay at AKV. You can reserve a villa through CRO for cash, just as you would any other WDW resort room.
Or, you might consider renting an AKV reservation from a DVC member. Check out the FAQs and stickies on the DVC Rent/Trade board to see how that works.
If you decide to "rent points" from a DVC member, please be sure and educate yourself on how a DVC reservation is very different from a regular hotel reservation, and the basics of renting points, as it is often referred to.
If you are looking to rent points for that one evening, it is approximately $10 - $12 per point, so that one night would cost you approximately $300 - $360.
