thank you all again.
Calypso, she has what the doctor calls "global delay"
You cant tell by looking at her either.
She was born almost deaf and had ear tubes put in when she was 19 months old. That solved the hearing problem but she was behind in many ways.
*I* think she has Central Auditory Processing Disorder and I have gone behind my doctors back to prove that. I have an appointment with an audiologist to test her for it.
You can read about it here:
CAPD
part of that article says:
Is your child easily distracted or unusually bothered by loud or sudden noises?
Are noisy environments upsetting?
Does behavior and performance improve in quieter settings?
Does your child have difficulty following directions, whether simple or complicated ones?
Does your child have reading, spelling, writing or other speech-language difficulties?
Is abstract information difficult to comprehend?
Are verbal (word) math problems difficult?
Is your child disorganized and forgetful?
Are conversations hard for your child to follow?
this describes my daughter to a *T* with the notable exception of reading. She is 5 and loves to read. She tries very hard and can read several words. Its one of her favourite things to do.
The thing about my daughter is she is truly the most loving, empathetic, enthusiastic person Ive ever met! Everyone who meets her loves her immediately. I take her to church and all the kids rush to her side yelling " Karissa's here! Karissa's here!" the adults love her and tell me all the time how she is such a joy and that her enthusiam for everything just makes their day!
She is a great kid. I know, in my heart, that she is destined for great things and that this is just a small hurdle on the way to those things.
I guess its true what the say... you will never hurt as bad as when someone hurts your child!
Thank you all again. I truly appreciate your support and hugs and kind wishes. You will never know how much you have helped me today!

God Bless.
