here's a letter from her principal that she brought home this afternoon!!

"Dear Mr. & Mrs. AmazingGrace
While Grace is always an outstanding student, and a young lady we love having at ****** Elementary, she has gone over and beyond what is usually expected of a student in the last few weeks. We had a student enroll at ******* that has many special needs. Her mother wanted so badly for her to be able to be with other students her age and do the best she can in that environment. Grace has befriended her and helped her to be able to be in Ms. ****** and Ms. ******* classrooms. While other decisions have been made this week that will take this student out of the classroom for most of the day now, she still knows she has a friend in Grace, and she just loves her. So do we. Grace just has a loving and caring personality that radiates from within her.
Today, her teachers had a special private lunch with Grace to thank her, but we wanted to let you know how much we appreciate Grace. She is a tribute to both of you and I know you are proud of her all the time, not just for this incident! Grace is a role model to other students and we are so glad she is one of our *******Unicorns.
Dr. ******* Principal"

This is one of those moments as a parent that really shows that the things were trying to teach her are really getting through. I am proud of her all the time, but there are times when I swear i'm just spinning my wheels. Today makes up for those times in spades!!!

What a beautiful letter and testament to the wonderful character of your daughter!!:thumbsup2

That's just wonderful!

Well it shows that you have done a great job of raising your DD. She has a great heart.

That is awesome. You are right--it is moments like those that you will always remember and treasure. It speaks volumes about the kind of girl your Grace is.

:cheer2:

That is an awesome letter!!!:goodvibes

Nice job raising such a wonderful DD!:)

TC:cool1:

She sounds like a wonderful girl and she must have wonderful parents too. :thumbsup2

I think sometimes educators forget that the good stuff should be mentioned as much as the bad stuff. That just warms my heart!

I'm proud of her, too!!!

My son's best friend has a brain injury and has MANY special needs. He's been his best friend for 4 years thru middle school and into high school. All anyone wants is acceptance. Your amazing child shows the kind of character that can many ANY parent proud and is a total reflection of how you've raised her to accept and cherish all life.

Like my son always says, why does it have to be strange? Why can't everyone treat everyone well?

In a week where I've seen so many uncomfortable to horrid traits in parents and children, this is a pleasure to hear.

God bless you all... :grouphug:

What a wonderful daughter you have! As the parent of a special needs child, I always appreciate the kids who choose to see past his different behaviors and befriend him. There were kids in elementary school who made fun of him but there were also those who went out of their way to play with him, eat lunch with him and help keep him calm when he was anxious. I couldn't believe when he was in 1st grade and I walked into the classroom and saw a very caring 6 year old rubbing his back to keep him from freaking out over a math problem. Some kids can be so amazing. You should be very proud of your daughter!:goodvibes

I'm so glad they let you know how amazing your daughter is. It's nice to get some positive feedback. Good job! :thumbsup2

What an incredible letter to receive - good job being parents! You're obviously doing a wonderful job! :goodvibes

Aw, that would have made me cry!! You obviously have done a wonderful job raising such a considerate young lady!

I hope you're going to get that letter laminated, Mom!

Congratulations on raising such a great kid and having it acknowledged by her school so eloquently. :)

What a wonderful letter. You must be mush inside right now. :)

That was really nice that the principal took time to let you know how your daughter is impacting the school there. She seems like really quite a special young lady.
