Update
I guess 3 other people are interviewing and the last one is on Thursday. I work with him on Friday so I will know by then. I think I made an idiot of myself on the interview but my husband reminded me that I thought the same thing when I first got hired so who knows. We'll see!
----
Tonight I have a meeting with my store manager about becoming an assistant manager. It will mean about 5-10 more hours a week but I would be thrilled to have the position. About $3 more an hour wouldn't be too shabby either.
For a person who didn't think she would get hired in the first place, being considered for this after only 7 months with the company makes me feel great!
I'm a SAHM and I would always put my kids first. I had stopped wearing makeup for the most part, hadn't bought new clothes in ages, and put myself last in all situations.
Working has really forced me to put myself first sometimes and I enjoy my job tremendously. I originally took the job for the discount (Gymboree - clothes for the kids) but quickly found that I loved interacting with adults, helping others shop (one of my favorite things to do), and being away from the house for a bit. It has most definitely boosted my self-esteem as well.
I love my husband and children dearly but I think that having this small job JUST FOR ME has actually improved my relationship with my husband. I think I resented him at times for having a job outside the home and wanted his constant attention when he was home.
WHEW! So, if you are a SAHM and you are feeling like you need a break, I highly recommend a small PT job. It gives dad some one on one time with the kids as well which I think is important too. Sometimes I wonder what he would do if something ever happened to me. Now I know he could probably handle it.
Long post, apologies to PD
