Hi all ~ We are going to WDW March 13-22, 2007. I booked two nights in Daytona Beach, 13th & 14th and 7 nights at CBR with the intention to change the WDW ressies to CBR for 4 nights and another mod for 3 nights.

However, I've been considering changing that to 5 nights at CBR and 2 nights at a deluxe. DD wants to stay at AKL, so I called today....it's $130 per night more than a mod. Is it worth it?

We really want a relaxing trip....only three park days and a couple of water park days. The rest will be RESTING.

SO....I've been thinking AGAIN of changing to a Value Resort for the first 3 nights at WDW and do the parks and then the last four nights at CBR to rest and enjoy the resort. That's a $71 savings from a mod resort.

What do you think? Blessings, Sandra

Hey Sandra, you know my vote on this. Give AKL a try - form your own opinion about whether or not they're worth it. "Worth it" is so subjective and I really think that Emily & Evan would love AKL (as will you and Gary). Stay 5 nts CBR/2nts AKL. STOP THINKING - JUST DO IT!!!!! :thumbsup2

Now I'm think about ASMo....heeheehee! I think my kids would like deluxe resorts when they are older. I don't know! heeheehee. S :rotfl:

Honestly, it doesn't matter. You guys will like whatever you choose. As long as one of your resorts is something new, it won't matter a great deal if it's a value or a deluxe - it's the new experience that counts. We're trying ASMu for 4 nights next August. This is our first value stay ever, so we are looking forward to it for that reason. Just pick a theme that appeals to you and go for it. If part of your stay is at CBR which you know you love and only 2 or 3 nts are at a new resort, then you can't really go wrong. I go through this resort indecision every year. If only all decisions were this wonderful to make! ;)

We thought about changing resorts on our next trip..... but we looked at it like this.... we barely stayed in our room at all other than sleeping, showering and bringing back purchases. we decided that to spend the extra dough for a place to sleep, we thought we could better spend it in more Disney stuff!

My family has really enjoyed staying at the value resorts. For the amount of time your in the rooms (which are perfectly fine by the way) the savings is well worth it. If I did not have 3 kids I would continue to stay at the value resorts. (not allowed now)

Switching resorts in the middle of your relaxing vacation may be a bit of a pain especially if you have kids.

AKL is perfect for those relaxing stays!

The restaurants are great! The activities that they offer at the resorts are fun! The pool is great too! And then seeing the animules! Watching them using the Night Vision Goggles!

You can't go wrong!

I would definately try AKl for the experience. It is a truly wonderful property. It is so well themed and nothing quite like it around. Stay there for your relaxing non-park days.
Have you thought of renting DVC pts and staying at one of the DVC properties. This is what we did and fell in love with them and the price was great!
Good luck

Another vote for renting points and staying at one of the DVC properties. It's a great way to experience a deluxe resort. Less points are required for Sunday to Friday stays so you may want to split your stay between a DVC property and a value resort. This way you will experience first hand what each resort has to offer and it will cost you less than if you stayed at a moderate the entire time.

You'll really feel like you got another beautiful vacation somewhere else (without a lot of hassle) if you put in a few days at AKL. I'm out of the loop on whether you can now get a guarantee of a Savannah view or not. That is THE best. But even without it the place is fantastic with so many viewing spots.

DH & I were just discussing last night how it is still our favourite Resort. We both liked it better even than The Polynesian (a close 2nd). Last visit we just HAD to go over to see it again, even though we weren't staying so we ate at the Mara -- good value on Dining Plan.

The CMs are fantastic, friendly, informative, interesting, great with kids. The programs for the kids are also wonderful. SO relaxing a place. Great pool. Such a unique place.

Transportation to the Parks was fine. BUT, transportation to WaterPark did take them forever as they left late on a Dec. morning & ended up on a combined DtnD/WaterPark bus.

Truly this Resort is a hidden gem for WDW. 3 or 4 nights at a Value for going to the Parks then 3 at AKL is my vote. Try something new!

We where always big fans of the All Stars, especially POP, but since buying our DVC three years ago, we find it a grind to stay there now. I usually take the first night at one of the All Stars prior to heading into the DVC properties but last year even that felt hectic. If you are looking for some down time it might be nice to do AKL just to say that you have? Just a thought...WDW is magically any which way you slice it......this is our 10th year with dd (13 going on 40) and we're still excited! :wizard:

AKL is amazing! It might be a pain to pack and unpack though.

AKL is truly gorgeous.. It is not too much of a pain to move resorts... bell services does it all, Really nice to wake up and look out on your balcony at the animals! I did find the rooms on the smaller side however but they are still really nice!
My vote is for the Poly MK view was awesome!!! Big room, great view.. can't go wrong!

What did you decide????
