I'm so disappointed!

I think I"m going to just go ahead and cancel my birthday trip. I had planned on spending my actual 40th birthday just how I'd always wanted it as a child, at WDW. DH even said that he wouldn't hyperventilate if I booked Poly GVC for a week.

Then I took a new job in student housing and the first day of class is the day after my birthday-so I have to work on the 27th. No problem, we'll just go ahead and go the next week, which is Labor Day weekend. (It was a Grand Gathering, so everyone had to figure out schedules etc). Then I find out that there's a large convention scheduled which could add up to 10k extra people as well as closing one of the parks early.

Now, nobody wants to go over Labor Day and to be honest, it just wasn't as special if I couldn't be there on my exact birthday (childish, I know).

I know that this is just a rant, but nobody else I know understands how big a disappointment this is except for other DIS'ers.

I am so sorry! I am planning a 40th birthday trip to WDW too. I know you must be heartbroken. :grouphug: Maggie

I'm sorry too. I will be the big 4-0 in July and we are going in August about 3 weeks after my b-day. But I know what it's like to be disappointed about going to WDW.

Labor Day weekend crowds aren't so bad, and an extra 10,000 bodies don't make THAT much of a difference spread over four parks. The MK alone has a capacity of about 90,000 (and is nowhere near that during that time of the year).

I think you can still have a great time if you decide to go.

... and if the people are there for a convention, hopefully they'll be working and NOT in the parks. :thumbsup2
