I'm so disappointed in Disney

Some of you may remember that I had to cancel a vacation last year due to a relative being diagnosed w/ cancer and then we had a conflict w/ the kids missing school. Well it took Disney over a month to fully reimburse me, the check that was supposed to have been sent out didn't get generated and it was a mess. Well I talked to a lovely man in guest services and he had my check overnighted to me also telling me that he would make our next stay worth the while. To contact him after we had booked and he would apply a discount if possible.

Well I was foolish and upgraded to WL and then contacted him. He assured me that he would return my call and 6 days later still notta. So I just got off of the phone with guest services and no discounts can be applied to our household. Well I'm surely not paying rack rate prices at WL and I was very tempted to cancel the entire vacation had it not been for the kids wanting to go.

They were kind enough to give us VIP fireworks viewing in Epcot, which I'm really grateful for. And I just told them since they can't do anything with a discount would they downgrade us to a value under the circumstances. She did and for no charge. She did say that when the original guest services CM gets in that he may be able to go further but it has taken me since September to get in touch w/ him. Its like an act of congress to get through to him.

I'm just so disappointed. Thanks for listening to me whine.
 
I understand your being disappointed, but the man did say he would try. He did not say he could give you a discount for sure. It sounds like you were counting on an upgrade a little to much. I would keep trying to get a hold of him though. You might get lucky. But try to focus on the fact that you did get your money back, you are getting VIP fireworks viewing, and try to get excited about whatever resort you choose.
 
Sorry to hear about your circumstances, but I'm not sure I understand why you are complaining. You did end up getting all of your money back I assume once you had to cancel the original trip. And now you are expecting a big discount to a deluxe resort? I think it is a little unreasonable. Sorry, just my opinion.

There are no guarantees, you did say he said "discount if possible". Guess it may not be possible. Nothing wrong with the values. Enjoy your holiday and I hope your relative is receiving good care.
 
I did get all of my money back but I should had the trip was cancelled almost 3 months prior so I was due the entire amount. I don't mean to sound so ungrateful and I did count on the discount because of what he said. He did say if possible but went on to say we'll get something there is always some kind of discount available.

Anyway I finished with my whining session yall can bill me later.

I do realize it may seem as if I'm being petty. I just remember having such a hard time getting my refund. Had I not called the check that was supposed to be for $1891 but was for $600 would've never gotten generated. It was locked in their system is what they told me. And I'm just frustrated that the man was supposed to call but never did. To tell the truth I knew that I wouldn't get a big discount but I was hoping none the less. All I really wanted was a phone call just to let me know one way or the other what he was able to do. Anyway I feel better after venting.

Maybe something will work out. Trying calling a couple more times. If I understand correctly, they kept $1200 that you were fully entitled to for a month and only then did you receive it because you corrected their error. I don't know that you should get a big discount, but you should at least get a return phone call, JMHO. Anyway, wishing you luck and a fabulous trip.

The main reason that we cancelled was because my aunt to whom I'm very close to was diagnosed w/ pancreatic cancer. The issue w/ the kids and school could've been resolved w/ me simply taking them out regardless.

And for the record, I (meaning me) didn't ask you (Mr Stockholder) to pay for anything. I didn't post the entire conversation and we spoke last Monday and he was continuing to work on the discount. Now it really has nothing to do with receiving a discount but I'm tired of trying to figure out what they are going to do. I never asked for anything I was told to contact him w/ a possible discount. Since that time he told me he would give me the VIP fireworks and continue to work on getting us a discount because in his words, "this never should have happened and it was unusual circumstance that validates the best we can do for you in making your stay more cost efficient." That was on our last phone call. He told me he would call me back if not contact them. To which I did. Now I'm just tired of it and choose not to pay rack rates for a deluxe. So I chose to spend our money to suit us (my family) not you ( Mr Stockholder).

Thanks. I agree w/ you. I really don't think I'm entitled to a discount but who was I not to try. But in the long run I could've found a better way to vent. I do feel better though, if that counts for anything. :goodvibes
 
There is only so much the CM can do, so if there is no discount available (you can verify that yourself I believe), then then I dont see the need to be upset upset with Disney.

It would have been nice had the CM gotten back in touch with you, but maybe he is still working hard to find something for you and doesnt want to call until there is definitive news. I am glad that you were able to downgrade at no charge though...Im sure yall will still have a wonderful trip and who knows, there is still time for a some magic to happen, right? =)

There is only so much the CM can do, so if there is no discount available (you can verify that yourself I believe), then there is no reason to be upset upset with Disney.

You're exactly right. And it was very nice of them to do all that they did. It has been one of those days for me and I just had to vent.

I do know that this man has done alot in what he has already done for us and I am really grateful, despite my intial post.
