Okay, I live in Texas Congressional District 22, thats right good old Tom Delays stomping grounds.(although thankfully he now calls him self a Virginian and thankfully he's no longer a Texan and soon to be an ex-Congressman) As a result we have a very heated race going on for his seat. The Democrat running is Nick Lampson, and the Republican write in candidate is a current Houston council woman named Dr. Shelley Sekula Gibbs. To vote for her we actually have to do it twice, once to sort of certify her as a candidate via a primary type vote, where her name is on the ballot, and a second time as a write in candidate. I tend to lean to the conservative side on fiscal matters (like government spending, taxes and so forth) and am somewhat more liberal on social issues (Gay marrage, abortion, etc.) So last night as I look through our mail and sort through the 50th and 51st piece of campaign litireture we have received in the last two weeks (literally 3 to 4 a day) I get a pre recorde phone call from a candidate. It says they support and have voted for marrage to be defined as one man and one woman. They are a member of the NRA (great so am I), they are a life time resident of Southeast Texas, (hey so am I) and that they support closing our border to illeagal immigration (me too!) Guess who the call was from?
Nick Lampson the Democrat! WTH! this guys a Democrat? Or is he just pandering to the voter? District 22 is suburban Houston and has always been strongly conservative, so is this guy just saying what people want to hear or is he truly a conservative in Democratic clothing?
Anybody trying to pull the wool over your eyes in you local elections this year?
