My aunt has already made her reservations at a 2bdrm @ BCV for 11/29/08 - 12/6/08 and she isn't a DVC owner. I am a DCV owner and want to make my ressies for our 2 bdrm but BCV isn't my home resort so I have to wait :sad1: .

I was thinking of doing the day by day thing like I've seen other do here on the boards, but someone with Dreams Unlimited to me I couldn't do it that it wouldn't work for me. Here is her exact words: If you were thinking that you could hold the 2 Bedroom with a deposit and then switching to your points at 7 months, unfortunately, it won’t work like that. The inventory of Villas that they book for DVC Members and then release to WDTC for the general public is completely different and non transferrable.

Some please help me. I so do not want to miss out on getting a 2 bdrm with the rest of my family for a grand gathering. We bought DVC for so we could enjoy these places and not be stressed about it. I guess I'll go thru the same thing in '10 when I want to reserve 2 rooms at the Grand Floridian.

Any input would be greatly appreciated even if it is to be patient it will all work out.

The TA is correct, you can not book a cash room through Central Reservations then transfer the reservation to points at 7 months, they are separate inventories.

What you can do, is book a two bedroom at your home resort on points, so you at least have a place to stay, then try to switch it to BCV at the 7 month window. The worst that can happen is you'd be at a different resort from the rest of your family, but you'll still all be at Disney, and can meet up at the parks. Having a car would also make meetingup pretty easy, one party would simply drive to the other resort to meet for dinner or get togethers.

Nope, not an option. don't want to be at seperate resorts. I guess we'll just keep our fingers crossed.

Another option is to rent points from a BCV owner for that trip - one that has the advantage of being able to book now for a very popular time of year. Either bank your own points or rent them out to someone else to cover your own rental. Its more work, but if its really important to stay at BCV, it could be done.

Nope not an option. We want to be at the same resort. The people that are making the day to day reservations what does that mean?

Your vacation starts November 29 and that is Thanksgiving weekend. I would say you have little chance of reserving a 2 bedroom at BCV for that week at 7 month window. I would say there may even be a waitlist going prior to the 7 month window for that time frame.

Thanksgiving into early December is a very desirable and high occupancy time for DVC. You can wait and take a chance, but I don't offer much hope.

Why would you not want another DVC Resort, i.e. your home resort? Perhaps your aunt would change her reservation to stay with you.

::yes:: I would not be surprised if there's already a waitlist for that timeframe...especially for a 2 BR at smaller resorts like BCV and VWL.

Many owners of BCV and VWL book December stays day-by-day at precisely 11 months out, and they are calling right now for the dates you need. That's why you're seeing all the "I can't get thru to MS today" posts here on the DIS!

I can't imagine being able to get a 2 BR at BCV at 7 months that time of the year. Carol's suggestion of booking at your home resort is a good idea.

I like Crisi's idea. If you find a BCV owner now they can book your reservation and pay them and either rent or bank your points. At lesat in this scenerio you have access to the 11 month window. Otherwise I truly don't think you will get a room since it is such a busy time of year. That is unless you pay cash which for a 2 bedroom villa I would guess it would be $600+ a night.

Good Luck

Carol's suggestion of booking at your home resort is a good idea.

And very possibly the ONLY option short of crisi's suggestion.

I would not recommend waiting until the 7 month mark to find out. You will likely not even be able to get your own resort at 7 months.

I agree with the other posters that the chances of you getting BCV at 7months for that time of year is extremely slim, sorry... If you have to be at the same resort, at this point I would book a cash reservation through CRO into nonmember inventory and then rent my points out to help pay for the trip. It will be full soon.

This may not be what you're looking for, but what if you called to see if they have a DVC discount on cash reservation for those nights and then at the 7 month window, check to see if there are any rooms available using points. If there is, then great (however, reading all the other posts, seems very unlikely). If there isn't any available then at least you'll be in the resort of your choice. If you decide that you don't want to pay for the room then at this time you can choose another resort. Either way, you have options.

You bought DVC at a specific resort. That means you can book at your home resort 11 months out from your checkout date, but you can't book any other resort until 7 months out, and that is subject to availability. You are going during a very popular time for DVC owners because of the holidays and low points cost, which makes it very difficult to get reservations among owners who own at the smaller, popular resorts to get reservations even at the 11 month mark.

Food and Wine Festival is another notoriously hard time to get a reservation at BCV and BWV.

Your aunt got a reservation through the Cash Reservations Office, which holds a percentage of all rooms at DVC resorts for cash-only reservations (I think its 20%). They are a completely separate reservation system from DVC, so you cannot convert a cash ressie for a points one at any stage.

We went this past Dec. 1st through 8th. We own at SSR, and booked a 2BR more than 7 months out. At the 7 month mark, we waitlisted for either BCV or BWV. The waitlist never came through.

You also don't say whether you booked anything yet. Did you at least book your home resort to at least guarantee that you have a room?

As for "day-by-day", which I don't see anyone has explained - its a common tactic to book a reservation at popular times one day at a time. Since you cannot make a reservation for your stay until 11 months/7 months from your checkout date, not your checkin date, someone checking out the day before you could book the room you want the day before you can. So instead, 11/7 months out from your checkin date, you book only that day. The next day, you call again and have the reservation modified to include the next day, and so on until you get all the days you want. However, you do run the risk that a particular room type may not be available for one or more of the days in question (someone beat you to it) - this may result in you needing to book a room elsewhere, and waitlist for the other days, and hope they come through, or deal with changing rooms/resorts.

CRO doesn't exactly "hold" a percentage of reservations. DVC maintains the right to own a small % of the units (less than 5%). These rooms can be used when other rooms are out for maintenance or DVC can choose to rent them through CRO. DVC also takes control of some rooms when members trade out, that % depends on how many members trade out, then they can choose to rent them through CRO.

I don't think the general public books too many DVC rooms through CRO, especially 1 bedrooms & larger because the cost is so high. So it seems like CRO always has rooms but I really don't think it's a high % of the total DVC resort rooms.

Now that I think of it, 20% does sound awfully high to me - not sure where I thought of that. But there MUST be some inventory that CRO has early enough to sell, and I would think that the 5% "reserve" has to be held "just in case" until closer to the booking times in question. In fact, I thought that was why there are two months that do not have Use Years associated with them. Those two months would be roughly 16.7% of "available" times.

But then again, I really have no idea why those two months don't have Use Years...

Actually there are 4 months that don't have use years. January, May, July, November. I don't think they have anything to do with the points DVC owns.

Can I book just regular rooms now at either the Beach or Yacht Club? Not the villas?

What about 2 rooms at the beach club or a 2 bedroom there? Could I do that now w/ points? We don't have to have a villa just wanted to be close to the family and of course there is no guarantee of that anyway.

I think I'll call tomorrow and make ressies at my home resort just incase and hope that I can change over at 7 months to the villas.

I so love to plan these vacations but after buy the vacation club 11/08 it has become more of a headache since our home resort isn't where we want to stay.
