I dont know how to iron... I just tried ironing a pair of pants for tomorrow... they look worse than when they were wrinkly.. :(

I guess I defintely don't fit the Housewife stereotpye... :P

aaahhh...Meagan - ironing is a lost art! I've watched my 86 year-old mother iron some real masterpieces! However, I impressed myself today by finally getting to the bottom of my ironing pile! (I wish I didn't like cotton clothes so much!) I usually get the wrinkles out - but that's about the extent of it! (& I've been ironing for 40 years!!)

I'm a great ironer, having had that chore my entire life growing up. I used to iron my father's shirts everyday before work.

Preshi, try that Downy wrinkle release stuff. DH uses it when I'm not around to iron for him. It really works! Just spray it on, then smooth out the material and pull out the wrinkles, and you're good to go.

My grandmother did a GREAT job of teaching me how to iron when I was growing up. She was one of those who even ironed the dishtowels and underwear!! She made it seem like fun, and I don't mind the task now. My mother hated it, so I have done a LOT of ironing!

Whew, I am somewhat relieved to know I am not the only one with this problem! I try to solve all my wrinkle problems by throwing stuff back in the dryer!:o

into the dryer with the offending items...........either that or be right at the dryer when the machine stops....take out immediately and hang up ....only way to do it..........My hubby was a sailor and they wore those wicked white uniforms....

I hate to iron.:o I used to have an iron that was a travel iron. One day the handle broke while I was in the middle of ironing. It burned my forearm and my thigh real bad.:( Most of the time now, I'll put wrinkled clothes in the dryer so I won't have to iron them. If it's real wrinkly, I'll iron them, but I grumble the whole time.:teeth:

I absolutely HATE ironing!!
I like cooking, baking, cleaning, gardening, sewing, but I despise ironing!!! I'm ok at it, I just hate it and will get out of it whenever possible!

I always take that wrinkle stuff Snoop mentioned above with me on trips now, learned about it here on the DIS, like so many things, LOL. I like it, and it smells nice too. :)

There are two types of clothes in my house....
Permenant pressed and permenant wrinkled.

I hate ironing too! I can't even imagine how it was back in the day when they used to put the iron on the fire to heat it up. I am so NOT a pioneer woman!:D

I couldn't care less about wrinkles . If the dryer doesn't get them out then they are there till I wear it ( most of the time I will iron once or twice a year for SPECIAL occasions only).

DS however irons his T shirts:eek: WAY too consumed with appearances.

Steve

What's an iron??

Oh, that paperweight I RARELY take out of the closet!! :teeth:

I use mine to HEM things only!! If an item needs to be ironed I either don't buy it or throw it in the dryer like Pumba. A slightly wet tee shirt or washcloth and the wrinkles are GONE.

Otherwise, don't feel bad. Ironing is indeed, a lost art!

I detest ironing! Unfortunately I'm a champ at it.
I used to have to spend 2-3hrs a day several days a week ironing all the laundry (shirts, jeans, sweatshirts, pants, shorts, even tee shirts- for my Mom, Dad, brother and sister).

I even starch!
Since I married DH, ironing is only for dress clothes. Work clothes and everything else get the downy wrinkle spray and folded as soon as it's dry

I thought this was the offical way to iron. Is it not?

I HATE ironing BUT I love the look of freshly ironed clothes. I like the pleats nice & tight & as much as I DETEST ironing, I have to admit, I iron almost everything...including pillow cases!
