Just venting having come home from work tired and knarky. I'm supposedly on "receiving" duties at hospital Thurs (yesterday) through to Sunday... meaning 12 hour shifts for those four days. Normally in this receiving rota, we get two days off after that to make our hours legal. Well, guess what, on Monday I swap to a normal rota which means that I'm on the wards normal hours from now on. No days off. In fact, I'm on the WORST ward on Monday which no-one wants to work on because the hospital mucked it up again and my colleague who IS supposed to be working on that ward is down to do the Sunday nightshift finishing Monday morning.
So basically, I have no day off. I am on late 9am-11pm on Thursday, and touch wood off Saturday, but am working Sunday next weekend 9am-11pm and through the following week (including the following Saturday).
Am I totally stupid?
Is this hospital completely and utterly using me? Of course, they have us residents under the thumb, because we need our forms signed by the Consultant supervisor in order to progress.
Sorry for the vent. I'm just feeling like I'm living at work and occasionally visiting home.
John (or should I be anonymous in case this is being checked by my seniors?!
PS Incidentally, I can't remember the last weekend I wasn't working (and wasn't scheduled for annual leave).
