I'm sick. So why do I feel guilty?

I felt sick last night, and my DH told me to call in sick to work. I told him I can't do that! So I came to work this morning with a stomach ache. It is not terrible, but is bothersome. I don't really have much work today, and I would like to just go home. So why do I feel like I can't? Why can't I say, "I don't feel good and I'm going home". The thought of it makes me feel like I am just being lazy.

I think the problem is I work with a bunch or workaholics, and I am worried they'll look down on me.

Can I please go home now?

You answered your own question. You don't want your co-workers to think you are a slacker. If your not sick anuff to go home stay. If you were really sick you would not care what anyone thought you would just think " I WANT MY BED"

I have the same problem. I don't care one way or the other what my coworkers think of me, but I swear everytime I'm out, some problem comes up that makes me wish I had gone in after all. If I have any inkleing that I'll be out the next day (I feel a cold coming on) then I'll do my best to get my desk cleared off and let my boss know I may not be in the next day. If I'm sick when I wake up and had no warning the day before, I'll just go in for a few hours, do what I need to, and then tell my boss I'm going home because I'm sick. Usually she throws me out while saying "get out before you give whatever you have to us, I hope you feel better soon!". If you have a tougher boss, my stratagy may not work for you.

Yeah, my boss comes in no matter what. No joking, once he had some nasty eye infection and his eyes were surrounded with ointment and goo - it looked terrible! He had his wife drive him in because he could hardly see.
