I have been planning for months about a September trip. It looks like we won't be able to make it. Money is really tight right now. I hope everybody enjoys their trips this year.

So sorry. That is a tough decision to make. Hopefully it is not too long before you can go again.

I'm very sorry, too. That's got to be so disappointing. Hopefully you can channel your Disney planning energy into something else.

I hear you. Had to cancel last falls trip due to unexpected reasons. Hoping to go this year but it ain't looking good.

So sorry, sending pixie dust your way for things to work out for you when the time is right, hopefully before too long. pixiedust:

I had to cancel last year for the same reasons and 4 yrs ago due to medical issues...it sucks. Next year!?!?

I had to cancel our planned Oct 12 trip. Our planned Sep 13 trip is now smaller, with the uncles & aunt unable to make it. So, we're going to use all of those points to go next week, adding extra days to our Sep trip & going in December. Since we own DVC, we needed to use the points so we'll buy annual passes next week.

Plans change. Financial circumstances change. Just put little bits back every now and again.

~Don't be sad! Seriously, save up for 2014! If there is any year to skip, this would be it! Everyone is waiting for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and for FP+ to finally be implemented. I'm thinking about skipping this year myself! Happy planning. :goodvibes

It is sad that you have to cancel, but you are being practical. If you went even though you couldn't afford it, it would cause you stress afterwards and you likely wouldn't enjoy it as much. When you do get to go, you will appreciate it that much more.

I also agree with the PP who pointed out that things are kind of transitional right now. Wait a bit and things should be much more settled.

Don't be sad.. Be proud!! You have sense enough not to spend money on something you cannot afford. You aren't pushing yourself into debt for something that is supposed to be fun. :)

:sad1: I totally know the feeling. Last April I put my reservation down for a November trip. We were slammed with an unexpected move....had to reschedule for January. Then it still wasn't able to happen, so I moved it to next November 2013. It stinks that I have to wait that long, but I figure it will give me more time to save for spending money and maybe I will actually be able to save for the Christmas party. :)

Sorry to hear you had to cancel your trip. I understand and sympathize. We booked for next week about a year ago. I have been anxiously awaiting. About a month ago we decided we needed to cancel due to our current financial situation, and it was not a good time to take kids out of school. It makes me sad every time I see a WDW commercial on TV. But....I am focusing my energy on a May 2014 trip. It seems like a long way off, but as a PP said. 2014 should be a better year to visit WDW. FP+ (like it or not) should be implemented and hopefully the bugs worked out in 2013. I am hoping New Fantasyland (including the mine train coaster) will be complete by May 2014. Also the Polynesian, our favorite resort, is getting renovated in 2013.

So, I understand your pain. I am an optimist and I believe that WDW will be even better in 2014 than it is today. Try not to focus on what you are missing out on this year, and focus on your next trip to WDW. As PP mentioned, start saving now for your next trip. Every penny you can put away in 2013 is that much less that comes out of your pocket in 2014.

Sorry to hear that. I have cancelled Disney trips twice in the past - travel companions backed out of Disney so I did a different trip each time, but it was still disappointing when you have your heart set on Disney.

We had a huge unexpected expense this year where if we didn't already have our trip booked we would have cancelled. However, we have decided there will be no trip next year. So, I'll just live vicariously through you next year :) Hope things get better soon!

You're not alone. Tax man hit us hard this year. Hoping for a 2014 return to the World.

I'm sorry to hear that! But I agree with PP - save for next year and experience the Mine Train in the first year it's out!

Yep I can't go this year either. I really wanted to take my grand-daughter but we were also hit with an unexpected twist that made it impossible to go to Disney this year.

It's so hard not to be jealous or get upset. Some of my family is going this fall and I am bumming because I was sure we were going this year. It is really hard to hear about other people's plans when you are not going.

I am looking at the bright side. My grand-daughter will be a little older and will enjoy it more.

Excellent post! More people should think this way.
