Wow this is so interesting to me, cuz I just made all kinds of costumes for my DD's play last May. I made Jasmine's, the Genie's, Harem girls, everything, and I made the Magic Carpet for my DD. I was a sewing fool! If I have time, I will try to post some pics for you, to show you what I did for the Carpet. I'm not real savvy when it comes to posting pictures so bear with me.
But I can tell you what I used for it.
First of all, I found a picture of the Magic Carpet from the play at DCA. I used that for reference on the placement of the head, hands and feet.
Next I used stretchy velvet panne fabric. I bought enough to cover my DD on the front and back with her hands stretched high above her head. I then had her lay on the fabric, and I placed her head where it needed to stick out. I marked that with chalk. I cut a slit to start with.

Then I had to mark her hands and feet. I sewed gloves and socks onto the marks.
You know, this is going to take some explaining to do. It was a very hard project to do, and I sew alot. If you are still interested, you can PM me. I don't want to bore everyone.
Sorry about that.
To the OP. Find someone to sew Jasmine's costume for you. The one I made turned out beautiful if I do say so myself. Cut out the coupons from Joann's to get 40% whenever you can on the fabic and trim. At DL, in Adventureland, they had the perfect headband too. Maybe someone can check it out, to see if they still sell it. There might be a cheesy picture of Jasmine on it, but just replace it with a cheap rhinestone.
Good luck to all.
