UGGG, jury duty, I spend way too much time in a courtroom because of my job and was not thrilled last year when I was called in JULY.....no air conditioning. 150 people like cattle jammed into a little room, tvs not on, three day old newspapers and nobody ever knew what was happening. I kept hoping that I would get picked to be questioned and they would see the error of their ways and release me because of my job.....never happened. We were still sitting there at 5:30 pm and had not been released. Luck was on my side, the murder suspect that I had been picked to be on the jury for, showed up at the courthouse two hours late, asked his public defender for $1.00 to get a cup of coffee, took the $1.00 jumped on the bus and they didn't find him for three days. Thank goodness for the stupidity of criminals, he got us all released and his butt thrown back into jail.
By the way in PA we get $7.00 but it costs us $4.00 to park, and than if you want to eat from 8 am until 5:30 that also costs $$$. I showed them, I had my DH drop me off, I packed a cooler with my lunch and drinks. Than my company docked me the $7.00 I earned from my regular salary because that's what I earned for the day and they weren't going to pay me too.
