I'm really interested in being one of the founding members..

...AKV is going to be a large resort. Not SSR large but large. SSR has been selling for 5+ years at this point and I'd venture a guess that it will be selling for 1 more. Call it 6 years total, probably more however. It isn't twice as big as AKV will be.
Ummmm...you haven't been following on the size, have you. Nearly as large as SSR (about 2/3rds the size). Remember, SSR has been selling at a record pace (faster rate than BCV and BWV), but still taking over 5 years to sell out.

SSR will have 828 rooms and AKV will have 458 rooms - making it the third largest behind SSR and OKW.

SSR pre-sales began in August, 2003 after BCV sold out and the resort opened in May, 2004. SSR has now been selling for not quite 3.5 years and reportedly will be sold out in the next few months - a total of about 4 years to sell out.

again public sales started on May, 2004 - when the building opened.

May, 2005 - first year
May, 2006 - second year
May, 2007 third year (and it is not here yet)

if they do sell out in dec - that will 3 1/2 years. Disney members only got a couple of months pre sell.

so where is the 5 years or 6 years number coming from?

Doc gave the facts. Almost 4 years and still selling. I added on there in November of 2003.

Thanks for the clarification, for some reason I thought it started pre-sales at the end of 2002.

Based on this what is your best guess as to the time to sell out AKV. If you aren't comfortable guessing I understand that as well. Just thought you might be a good source for a guess since you've sen the track record for other resorts.

You bought SSR in 2002????? We bought BCV in 2002, and they did not offer us SSR. We had been members a couple of years before the announced SSR.

How did you get to buy a resort not even built yet in 2002?

I did NOT say that. SSR has now been selling for less than 3.5 years. If you want to quote someone, please try to at least come close to what was actually stated.

I looooove AK park. To us it is a multi day park. We spend a lot of time at AKL because we love it there as well. We never use WDW buses because we always drive everywhere. All of these reasons make the location good for us personally. I also like coming home from the parks to a totally different and even a little off the beaten path resort. That helps me decompress. Not everyone will feel this way or shares our style of vacationing but I believe AKV will prove to be quite popular. AKL certainly is very popular. The location doesn't seem to be hurting it to much with vacationers. I'd bet a nice little percentage of folks who choose to stay at AKL would consider buying VAK over the other DVC's but of course this is just my humble little guess.:goodvibes

BTW, I think the tapestry is a wonderful idea. I hope we can be one of the names on it.

Yes, much better to sit on the AK to BW-BC-YC-Swan-Dolphin-I-drive-MCO-Daytona Beach bus than to stay at AKL and share a bus with no other hotels.

New rule, if the bus marquee has to scroll to list all of the resorts that your bus will stop at, the bus is stopping at too many resorts.

I really don't understand what all the fuss is about the location of AKL. It is only about an extra 5 minutes on the bus then it is for SSR when you are going everywhere really. Except DTD for SSR and AK for AKL. I think it is a great resort and going to happy to own there.
