This is our 5th day here in DL I am so ready to go home, it's packed, and we haven't had a great time as normal so many things have happened... You can read in my trip report! Anyway we were dreamed yesterday got the fast passes, we didn't use them all though. We have the halloween party tonight I hope we have a good time DH has made it clear he does not enjou DL at all and doesnt want to come back. So ds and I will be back on our own again and maybe have a better time!!!!! We will be back home on Sunday. I just can't wait.

I am unable to find your trip report on the first page. Have you started it, or are you waiting to finish the trip first? My husband is known to throw tantrums if there are crowds or if he has to wait for anything. I considered myself lucky that he only threw a couple fits on our last DL vacation. My mom will never go to DL with him again after witnessing his childish behavior. Unfortunately, I have to deal w/ it on future trips.

In my Trip Report, I posed the question of whether too much DLR is never enough or does a little go a long way? And a few people have chimed in that it can and does 'get old' after a while, but as soon as they/we get home, we feel that need to get back to DLR back as soon as possible!! I think it is possible to burn out there - mentally and physically. And you are experiencing that now! The worst thing is to burn out when you still have days left on the trip, and you just feel like staying in the room! Rest and breaks are definitely a necessity on multi-day trips!

Were you able to replace your DS' Buzz Lightyear cup after that episode with that rude jerk the other day? Those cups are SO cute. I wanted one for myself!

Awww i'm sorry your having a bad time!!! I'm sure the halloween party will go better!!!! if not just think u can have A make-up trip for u and ur son!!

My non DH doesn't really enjoy it as much as me and the kids, so we go without him sometimes. When he does come I only get him a two day pass because I know he does not enjoy it. So he golfs, or visits with friends in the area or whatever. Then we meet up with him for meals or pool time.

Good luck! Be careful traveling home. :)

Our house is the opposite, my DW is so over Disney, we went in 2004 and again in 2006 and I love being there as a family, the kids love it and at now ages of 17 and 12 having something the whole family can have a blast at is great. We are planning our last big family holiday there next year but the only way I could get my wife to come was to add on a week long stay in Fiji on the way back.

Without the kids I don't think I would be as keen, the joy on their faces whilst we are there is was does it for me.

I am sorry that you and your family are not having a particularly magical time at Disneyland. I hope that your continuing visits will make up for that. Maybe you and your family will be dreamed again, that would be awesome. :)

I'm sorry your trip is not going to plan. We had a BAD trip last Feb, we even left early.
It's CRAZY busy today :scared1: and I hope I will see you tonight at the TOT party.

I'm sorry to hear you're not having a magical time. I read about the rude person knocking over your son and breaking his cup and I understand enough instances like that can really ruin a trip! Last year I went in October and it was so unexpectedly busy so I totally understand the crowd thing.

Well, I hope you have a wonderful time at the halloween party tonight. Hopefully winning the dream fastpasses helped buoy your spirits a bit! And, if you come back again this year with DS I think you'll be able to use the rest of the tabs on your dream fastpass.

I agree!

I also believe that if you have time that it should be more than just going on rides. I personally think that having a list of things you want to look for or try that take up some time when you have a lot of days, you can fully enjoy all of them :)

Im sorry your trip is not as magical as you would like. Hopefully the end of your trip will make up for the begining. I hope this does not keep you away for too long though ;)

Oh, I remember not too long ago you mentioning moving to Anaheim. Is that still the plan??:confused3

Yes, lists for all sorts of things are essential now at DLR because the crowds are thick and there are so many things to do there in 2008, that there is almost no way to totally wing it 100%. You have to go in with some sort of a plan, even a loose one. I think having more time at DLR overall, spread out over several days and nights in shorter increments MAY be better if people can afford it, because you can make sure you cover all kinds of bases (rides, shopping, eating, taking pictures, Hidden Mickey hunting, people watching, looking for little details you don't normally notice, etc.) in doing the things on the lists, and also rest and enjoy the hotel or whatever - just to get away from the madness of the parks. Trying to pack a bunch of stuff into 2 days or 1-1/2 days or whatever will only burn people out faster, I think. We all want to enjoy the entire experience from beginning to end, and when everything is rushed or we feel like we missed out on a bunch of things, it is no good! Then, you are still exhausted but yet you didn't do half of what you wanted to do!!!

OP, I am sorry about your DL trip not being the best. :sad1: But you are right...it has been very crowded of late. We go allot (we live very close) and it is so hard manuvering around the Land when it is so packed.

Well the weather has been beautiful hopefully tonights Party will be a HIT!!!

Where is the trip report you spoke of? I would love to read it!

Sorry to hear that your trip hasn't been great  I hope that your next one will be much better

I too have to say that I am sorry that your trip is not turning out to be magical; however, I have admit that as a DL regular I can not imagine spending 5 days at Disneyland. It just seems too long. We spent 7 days at WDW and there is SOOOO much more there. Perhaps 5 at DL is just too long - especially if DH is not a Disney fan. :goodvibes

I hope the remainder of your trip goes well. Congrats on being Dreamed. :wizard:

so sorry OP! we had kind of a similar experience when we went a couple of weeks ago. it was the first time i really felt like i may have wasted my money going to DLR.

but after about a week at home, i started planning the next trip (i probably wouldn't be, except that my daughter graduates in june and she asked for a 5 day trip to DLR to celebrate). i'm not as excited about it as i usually am, but i am hopeful that the next trip will be better.

i hope your last day there was more fun, and that you were able to recapture a little of that disneyland magic.

Aw, I'm sorry!

About hubby...when we went in September, I nearly squashed the Disney spirit in my hubby (and, um, my son). Convinced them to go in December and TRIED to be better, but still, they just weren't having as good a time as they were "supposed to".

That's why I did my solo trip solo, partially, b/c no one else wanted to come at all. Took them 5 months to want to go back, and then during our May trip they loved it.

And the other day, hubby told me that he's really missing Disneyland, and can't wait to go again.

A far cry from September '07 and especially December!

I agree with Sherry E, you feel this need to rush around and get to everything...then you leave tired and disappointed. My DH and I are going for only two days in decemeber and we are just going to relax. Take the holiday tour and do and see things that we wont be able to do when the entire family and kids are with us in april.

I hope your trip gets a little better and ends on a good note. Not sure what I would do if DH didn't love disney as much as I do. Travel safely! :)

Yes, it is tough squeezing a lot into just a couple of days at DLR. Also, if you don't know for sure that you will be back to DLR soon, you tend to want to do more in your two days (like in my case). My friend likes to rest a lot, and I don't want her to feel like she has to push herself when she is exhausted, or that I am abandoning her when she is taking a break. And then I don't want to go running off and doing everything without her by myself, which I easily could do, because then why go there with her in the first place? And she tends to not want to explore very much. She dismisses things too quickly if they look boring to her. We were strolling through DCA and turned into the Hollywood area, and she instantly said, "Oh there is nothing down there. No rides or anything." And started to walk away! I wanted to wander down that way to look in shops and just absorb whatever little details I could. I like to look at details. I like to hunt for Hidden Mickeys. I like to look in shops. I like to see everything that is there, restaurants and all. And I like to ride more rides than my friend does. We have our key rides that are most important, but I would go on more if she were willing! Same with DL. I like to roam around all the hotels and see what's happening. So I feel like I can't do all the stuff I want to do, and my friend feels like she is not getting enough rest, and yet, at the end of the trip, I feel like I missed a lot of things and am still tired because what we DID do we had to squeeze in to 2 short days or 1-1/2 days.

So next time, I think I will have to rethink our plan of action to make it the most effective and satisfying. I end up getting frustrated with DLR itself when that is not really the main issue!
