I'm ready to face facts...

Honey, come back into the clique!! My hips are enormous, but I still don't wear mom jeans! They only make your butt look a foot longer and your tummy look bulgier! I'm not saying you need to wear super low-rise, but try some jeans that look 'less momlike' and see how your butt looks. :thumbsup2

Youre cracking me up...

At my son's football games inthe fall - I'd sit back with my younger son, and say "look at all these high waisted jeans, and loooong butts" And he said "OMG, youre right! theyre terrible!" And he's 10!

NO MOM JEANS! :lmao:

When I picked my son up from school yesterday, I was appalled at how many mom jeans were walking around.
Seriously peeps, if your chest is a few inches away from your belt and you ARE wearing a bra...do you think that looks good?
We need to come up with a 'boo to belt' ratio. :rotfl2:

Ok...this is no joke anymore. :teeth: I tried on some stretch mid-rise jeans today. I guess as long as you're standing up they're ok. However, as soon as I sit down, they gap in the back and pull down. No one and I mean no one wants or needs to see that much of me. How do all of you handle this kind of design without it gapping in back? Didn't Oprah mention on her Favorite Things show some type of jean that was cut higher in the back and lower in the front to account for this very problem? :confused3
Somewhere, I saw a jean that was midrise but supposedly cut a bit higher in the very back to help avoid that gap. I can't remember where I saw them :confused3 but they definitely exist.

You guys would really laugh at me today. I'm wearing evil sweatpants right now. Hey I'm just at home. :teeth:

Just say "no" to the mom Lee jeans. Most of us moms that grew up in the 80s wore those tapered pants or we "pegged" our pants. Guess what, that makes your butt look VERY wide and unattractive. A little flare actually makes your hips/booty look smaller! Did you see that episode on Oprah when she had the "What Not to Wear" lady on there? She gave jean advice to ladies of all shapes/ages.

Here is the link with the jean buying advice:

I have a long torso and am tall. I find a midrise jean works best on me. Good luck with the jean buying.
:thumbsup2

I dont know....I seem to be either in the muffin jeans (mid rise) or mom jeans (sits at natural waist line).
Between the two looks I prefer the mom look to the muffin look for me :rolleyes1

Honey, honey, honey... mom jeans aren't just the ones that go to your natural waist. They have to be the ones that meet your bra strap. And the pockets on the butt accentuate the wideness of the hips and saggy butt. I now wear the ones that sit at my natural waist but the have a little "style" to them and stretch, which means they don't look like saggy butt. We CAN look good and be comfortable at the same time! :thumbsup2

Whew :cool1: Cause I tried the mid rise and it was depressing being a muffin :guilty:

Being over 60, I find it difficult to find jeans that fit. I have a severe case of NOASSATALL. I did find J Jill Tried and True jeans which fit. Also... Not Your Daughter's Jeans fit. They are not as Mom-Jeans as some.

I have found my new fav jean :woohoo: .....Levi Signature, mid rise, either boot or straight..They have a little bit of stretch in them....They sit low enough on the hips :hippie: to not look at all like the horrible MOM :sad2: JEANS but not so low that you are hanging out of them....They come in short, reg. and long lengths....They are comfortable and looked great.. ..Several of my friends :grouphug: , all over 40 have commented on my new look jean....a few have gone out and bought them.... :cool1: No more MOM JEANS for me.... :thumbsup2

EXTREMELY common problem...no worries.

Ok - to fix this particular pair...two ways:
1. cheap way
Put on a belt (that will pull in the 'gap' in the back)

2. a little more money
have them tailored...they will just nip in the back, no problem.

I read in a magazine, maybe last year, that some styles are now coming "higher in the back/lower in the front" so you dont' get this 'gap'...I believe "Gloria Vanderbilt" makes this style (I laughed...cause I thought this was a 'mom jean' brand...but I guess I was wrong).

I have a pair of Blue Cult jeans (normally $150+ ...found a 'past season' style on clearance at TJMaxx for $43 - score!) that is cut a smidge higher in the back...

Funny you should mention GV. My cropped jeans last summer that were GV are the ones that set me on this mission of "no-more Mom jeans." :thumbsup2

Me too! Me too!  I LOVE these! I've bought 3 pairs of them so far. They are a perfect rise for me - not too high, not too low. The stretch is super comfortable and I'm short (5'2) so the "short" length is perfect (hate paying for hemming!) Problem is, I've only found these, in the short lengths, at Wal-Mart. Are they available anywhere else (online or B&M)? I'd love to see an equivelent of these in other colors or capri length - I'd buy the heck out of them!!! Please tell me where else you all are finding these, besides Walmart.

Since there's been some talk of mom and non-mom jeans on the current fads thread, I am forced to bump the two non-mom jean threads. :teeth: This is the first one.
