I'm putting together a graduation DVD and need help with music

I am IN LOVE with this song! If it were my daughter graduating, this would be the song...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bq5DDHC8wug

There's a little flame inside us all
Some shine bright
Some shine small
The rains will come
And the waters rise
But don't you ever lose your light

In this life you will know
Love and pain
Joy and sorrow
So when it hurts
When times get hard
Don't forget who's child you are

This little light of mine
I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine
I'm Gonna let it shine
Gonna let it shine

May you live each day
With no regret
Make the most of every chance you get
And your eyes get wide
When you look at the stars
With the same sense of wonder as a child's heart

With the ones you love
Treasure the time
And for those who are gone
Keep the memories alive

Hold on to your dreams
Don't ever let go
There's a fire inside you
Burning with hope

chorus

There will be days when you wanna give up
When clouds settle in
But after the rain comes the sun
Don't you ever forget
Don't forget
Don't, don't forget

One day there will be no more pain
And we will finally see Jesus' face
So until then I'm gonna try
To brave the dark
And let my little light shine

chorus x2

Oh, shine
Gonna let it shine
There's a little light inside us all

My younger DD graduates next year and I know one of the songs I will be using is My Wish by Rascal Flatts. But we are huge Flatts Fans :cool2: I figure I will use this for the pics at the end. the ones taken most recently ....
I am also considering using Let Them be Little by Lone Star (I think?) for her baby and very young pics.
The way I procrastinate, I should probably start this project this summer!! :rolleyes1

I love Martina Mcbride "In my daughters eyes"

In my daughter's eyes,
I am a hero,
I am strong and wise,
And I know no fear,
But the truth is plain to see,
She was sent to rescue me,
I see who I want to be,
In my daughter's eyes

This is my DD's, 17, ringtone. Love this song! I am subscribing to this thread and saving ideas for next year!

For a bit of a change of pace, how about "Sweet Child of Mine" by Guns and Roses?

Could be cute if done creatively. . . .

My oldest just graduated last year. We used a lot of these songs but the one that always got me bawling was Whenever you Remember by Carrie Underwood.

Your dance song is great, but have you heard the song Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman? It is the one my dancing daughter picked for her grad DVD. I'm going to go watch her video now...sniff! She's been gone for 2 years and now I have to send off the next daughter.

For her video, I was thinking of using this one (it is Christian oriented)

Find Your Wings

It was only for a moment you were mine to hold.
The plans that Heaven has for you will all too soon unfold.
So many different prayers I'll pray for all that you might do.
But most of all,

I'll wanna know you're walking in the truth.
And if I never told you,
I want you to know that as I watch you grow:

I pray that God would fill your heart with dreams
And that faith gives you the courage
To dare to do great things.
I'm here for you whatever this life brings,
So let my love give you roots and help you find your wings.

May passion be the wind that leads you through your days.
And may conviction keep you strong,
Guide you on your way.
May there be many moments that make your life so sweet.
Oh.
But more than memories.

I pray that God would fill your heart with dreams
And that faith gives you the courage
To dare to do great things.
I'm here for you whatever this life brings,
So let my love give you roots and help you find your wings.

It's not living if you don't reach for the sky.
I'll have tears as you take off,
But I'll cheer as you fly.

I pray that God would fill your heart with dreams
And that faith gives you the courage
To dare to do great things.
I'm here for you whatever this life brings,
So let my love give you roots and help you find your wings.

I used this song too. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4NS7gChzvk as well as My Wish and Never Alone by Lady Antelbellum.

For a bit of a change of pace, how about "Sweet Child of Mine" by Guns and Roses?

I honestly really like this and definitely would not have come up with this on my own. It will definitely be in my DVD somewhere.

Love this thread!

DH makes a DVD for our youngest each year so we go through this each year. Here are a few that I really like:

Heaven by Live

(I don't need no one to tell me about heaven
I look at my daughter, and I believe.
I don't need no proof when it comes to God and truth
I can see the sunset and I perceive

I sit with them all night
everything they say is right
but in the morning they were wrong
I'll be right by your side
come hell or water high
down any road you choose to roam)

You'll Be in My Heart by Phil Collins

(seriously can not make it through this song without tears)

You're So Beautiful by Joe Cocker

These are the Days by 10,000 Maniacs

Beautiful Day by U2

Sister by Dave Matthews

(Sister, I hear you laugh
My heart fills full up
Keep me please
Sister, when you cry
I feel your tears
Running down my face
Sister, sister, keep me

I hope you always know it’s true
I would never make it through
You could make the sun go DARK
Just by walking away

Playing like we used to play
Like it would never go away
I feel you beating in my chest) DD20 always hugs DS22 when she hears it

Landslide by Dixie Chicks (actually Stevie Nicks first)

(Well, I've been afraid of changing
'Cause I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older and I'm getting older too)

I like to Move It- Madagascar, by Mad Stuntman

Learn to Fly- Foo Fighters

It is hard to find the right mix of sentimental yet you don't want everyone crying :thumbsup2

And there is a good chance that you will watch it many many more times over the next few years! I have 2 in college and while I am thrilled they are well adjusted adults, I still miss them so much!!

These song suggestions are great!! I have been pondering what songs to use thanks for sharing!! I am tears already, I can't believe graduation preparation time has arrived.

Tis the season so I'll bump this thread up! I keep thinking of Baby of Mine from Dumbo. Any other Disney songs??

I am planning to use

Baby Mine - from Dumbo

Forever Young - Bob Dylan

You'll Be in My Heart - Phil Collins from Tarzan

Mother Knows Best - from Rapunzel

When You Wish Upon a Star - from Pinocchio

I am crying just typing this post. :headache:

Oh my...after senior prom for our twin daughters last night...and parent orientation for one of them today...could somebody please pass the Kleenex???

I always make an end of year video for my first graders, and I use Miley Cyrus "The Climb." I think it would be great for the school photo section!

I can almost see it
That dream I am dreaming
But there's a voice inside my head saying
"You'll never reach it"

Every step I'm taking
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking

But I gotta keep trying
Gotta keep my head held high

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb

The struggles I'm facing
The chances I'm taking
Sometimes might knock me down
But no, I'm not breaking

I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I'm gonna remember most, yeah
Just gotta keep going

And I, I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on

'Cause there's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb, yeah!

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Somebody's gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb, yeah!

Keep on moving, keep climbing
Keep the faith, baby
It's all about, it's all about the climb
Keep the faith, keep your faith, whoa

All of these are great! I need a couple more songs for DS and he plays sports.. Keep the ideas coming.

What website or software is everyone using to make the videos. I've used Animoto in the past but I don't think it let's you use multiple songs.

I'm making a DVD as well and I think I'm going to start with "Life is a Highway, by Tom Cochran just to make it fun and then end with "Find Your Wings", by Mark Harris. I can't find the actual recording of "Life is a Highway" that I like on youtube except for the Wolff's Disney video;) This is the version I am using.
